I mean look at shimming this guy really sucks Idk what his amateur record was but I think we all agree this guy is a KO waiting to happen.
Master Rigo as I like to call him made one of the most amazing transitions I have ever seen from amateur to the pros.
I believe it only happened because of us the hardcore boxing fans that noticed how good he is and started demanding that Nonito take the fight, but then he schools one of the most talked about fighters of the last 3 years, hell I think Nonito was like top 5 on almost every P4P list.
In only 12 pro fights Rigo schooled us all in the art of Boxing.
So what do you guys think is he the best to go from amateurs to pros?
Do you guys know of anybody else who has been able to make it from the amateurs to the top in the pros so quickly?
if they waited till their 30's to turn pro? Yes. This ish is stupid.
Y'all are nauseating with this Rigo thing, seriously. He's beaten Donaire in his 12th fight, yay. Truth of the matter is, it was a bad style matchup. Nonito can't chase an elusive opponent well. He's not suited to do that, with his style. Who was the most elusive opponent he faced prior to Rigo? Nishioka? Get the fuck outta here!
To compare this guy to people like SRL, Ali, RJJ, and even Floyd, is ludicrous. Those guys have proven they could fight all types of fighters in their prime. Rigo has been protected by headgear his whole life, he just needs to get cracked.
smh. Only on NSB.
Consider this, he has only had 12 fights, and been down twice already. Floyd, who you are so fond of comparing him to has had 40+ fights and only been down from a measly glove touch and a hurt hand. What you won't like to see is that Rigo gets sparked clean out by a good pressure fighter. Where will your accolades be at then? It will have been just a waste of your damn finger energy.Rigondeuax didn't wait to turn pro, he was forced and the knock on him was that he fought for too many years in the AM, if Floyd and ward wait until their 30's in your opinion they surely would had done it and you maybe right, but they didn't because they want to make money and stayed long enough to get recognition as amateurs...
Diego Corrales was top 5 p4p in January 2001. Rigo is going to have to win more titles in more weight classes before we can rank him above Leonard, Whitaker, Spinks but he is the best double olympic gold medalists to turn pro this century without question.
Hope he gets more support from HBO after he knocks out his October opponent - in my opinion he is perfect for HBO BAD this winter. Is there any bantamweight he shouldn't stop in seven? Mathebula? Hasegawa?

I don't think Mayweather has fought a top 5 p4p in his life

This guy made the best transition to the pro's. There is no blueprint to beat him and he won a title in only 7 fights. I've never heard of him, but he's gotta be it!!
Seriously....Rigo is an amazing fighter and made me a believer after beating Donaire. But there have been many great fighters to transition in exceptional ways. I think it best to see how his career plays out before making this judgment. Jmo.
But all of them werent GOAT amateurs to me this is the first time i see a GOAT amateur and wont have to wonder what he would have done as a pro etc. Hopefully keeps going the way it is and he may get in the GOAT category as an amateur and pro.
Again dont forget the thread name " Is Rigondeaux the best Olympic medalist to transition to the pros?"
Then the answer to that is yes absolutely by a mile people mention floyd forgetting he only got bronze at the olympics Rigo is a multi Gold medalist and probably would have broken the record if he stayed in Cuba.
I'd say his is the most fascinating. Two gold medals and a championship in his 8th pro fight and then beat a top 10 p4p fighter in his 12th that's crazy what's even crazier is that he took his am style and he's beating top pros with it. Hit and runs is really what it is masterful but he runs some times and gives no ****s and nobody can figure it out. Yet... I'd like to see what mares can do he's a punching machine and everyone rigo has fought has tried to box with him or look for one big punch.
the problem is every time Mares is in the ring with a good boxer them damn golden boy judges allow him to low blow all night.

Actually Ioka is no joke. I've seen most of his title fights.
So you're just here to hug rigos nuts I seeAnd you to hate him, Spinks won in his 8 fight and loss in the rematch, More won the 154 belt on his 12 fight, Rademacher fought for the HW crown in his first fight as a pro and loss (he went down 6 times and Floyd once)
leon spinks beat muhammad ali with fewer fights.
there's a difference between the best amateur you've ever seen turn pro and the best amateur to ever turn pro.
Secondly, Do you think Mayweather , ward or any top fighter would win against a top 5 P4p fighter of the year opponent in their 12th fight

you just think that because of the donaire fight, donaire literally thought anytime he touched rigondeaux he'd be hurt, he'd hit rigo and then sit there with his mouth open like "ohhh sht, he's hurt!" and would come in just walking into whatever rigo threw thinking he was going in for the kill, instead of just running off right after the punch, like rigondeaux was doing, seriously, if donaire had rigo's mentality of "run" he'd probabley had outboxed the sht outta rigo since donaire was usually the one to land first
guy was too high on the hype on his power and rigo's glass chin talk
after he started noticing rigondeaux not get hurt and wack him right back he went into a shell looking for a super mega punch, thinking he just wasn't putting enough pop into it earlier
Check my signature. :biggthump

Wow sounds really interesting I'll have to check this guy out.
Papp was a very unusual boxer had an amateur record of 312-6 (I think) with 55 or 65 1st rd KO's. He was a welterweight who fought as a middleweight and was only 5'5" tall. He was a real buzz-saw. I followed his career because I'd met him when I was a kid and exchanged a couple of letters with him. He was fancied to beat Joey Giardello for the middleweight title and the fight was signed when his government took his passport. They insisted that he devote his time to training thr Hungarian team....... So he did.

What about Roy Jones...?
People claiming that Rigo got the early chances because of his age are contradicting themselves .
First of all, I consider Rigo as the best active boxer amateur or pro even before Donaire fight .
Secondly, Do you think Mayweather , ward or any top fighter would win against a top 5 P4p fighter of the year opponent in their 12th fight ? Even if they got the chance ? leave alone the impressive way of winning
For your surprise , even when they were the reigning chanpions , those names have never fought a top 5 p4p in his prime , and all their resume depends on being american + wins over average hyped opponents + 1-2 wins over legit above-average or elite opponents
Lastly, nobody dares to compare the amateur record of the best amateur of all times " Rigondeaux " to any of those names .
P.S
Never forget to give credit to Donaire for taking the fight !
Sure , without doubt
Lennox lewis achieved more , but Rigondeaux is the best boxer of all times IMO
Words like " professor , Master " are very good to describe his talent
He comes to the ring to give lessons to the opponent , other boxers and fans
Again non of them did what Rigo did in just 12 pro fights and according to most of the posters on BS it takes a couple fights to successfully make that transition. In Floyds 12 pro fight he fought Angelo Nunez 14win 11lost 3draws :nono:
Mayweather also fought Emmanuel Augustus when he'd already had about 25 fights and 4-5 130 lb title defences. Augustus had about 20 wins from over 40 fights. And even with all that, Mayweather's brains trust nearly slipped up, because Mayweather has never been hit so much in any fight, at least until recently, and if Augustus had not beena feather duster kind of puncher, he could possibly have KO'd or TKO'd Mayweather.
He always said that this was his toughest fight, whether true or not I don't know, but it's a great fight and I watch it every so often.
In Lennox Lewis 12 pro fight he fought Ossie Ocasio 22wins 9lost 1draw and he beat him by UD:nono:
I remember Ocasio, He was a little guy about 5'10" and weighed about 180 lbs. He was also KOd about a half- dozen times give-or-take one.
This was just a set-up to boost Lewis's record. There's a lot of that you know. Although the worst by far is Marciano's record when you consider who he fought and at what period in their careers as well as who THEIR opponents were. Boxing is full of this crap. Nothing honest about padding records.
