Scott clearly got up before the 10 count, its easy to see because the ref never even said "10". So it was waved off because Scott decided to take all the time allotted to him?

exactly this!
As soon as the guy goes down an official at ringside starts the count so the ref can direct the other fighter to the neutral corner. Once the refs done this he picks up the count from ringside and starts from there. Nothing suspicious about that.
What he said. I saw more than one say something about 'starting At 4' Good to see we have new fans of the sport. :)
Can someone tell me Is a ref able to start a count from any number? I was shocked when he started the count from 4.

is that you Juan Ma?
lol jk, but yea he technically beat the count....
Yes it's me
It seemed like a very fast count even before the strange ending.
He wanted the fight to be over so he can fatten his pockets
The metric system is all screwed up, not surprised.
Exactly
It's very obvious from that video that the ref stopped it early. It wasn't incompetence or an honest mistake, he was fully aware of what he was doing and wanted to stop it to give the home boxer the win.
But Malik should have known when fighting in another country to get up by the count of 8.
And his gambling problen. It was strange
that will be cleverly in all likelihood
I think so too
They should change it to an 8 count then if they're not going to give a guy the full 10 seconds.
No because then you would need to get up at 6.
Lmao clueless
something is going down in cleverly-kovalev, early stoppage/warren throwing oil slick at kovalev's feet/rounds ending 2 minutes early/someone barging in between rounds and whacking kovalevs knee like nancy kerrigan. something is happening.

I agree on both points but I think maybe Scott was more hurt than people realised. He hardly protested, didn't seem overly angry and talked of a shot n the post-fight which upset his equilibrium (David Price style).
I had it 4-2 Scott (arguably 3-3), and obviously the extra point for the KD. That's if the round was completed, which I expected.
Imho there were only two clear rounds (5 & 6), the first four could've gone either way. I had it 3-2 Chisora, with one even.
Right. I'd be interested to read your take on how the fight was being scored, where you think the momentum was going, etc.

Everything I read (watched the scores on Twitter) indicated a close fight, maybe Scott edging. Hope I can catch it all a little later. Saw discussion on the sixth and wanted to see if there was a real fuss point.
There was.
Cliff, did you not think Scott was being "Green Teefed" all night, though? Every rough exchange saw the ref warning him, but never The Chisel.
The most annoying thing is we never got to see how the fight would have turned out.
Haven't seen the whole thing yet. Just YouTube for the last round.
Terrible job.
The ref was out by a whole half-second on a downed fighter, not a hanging offence imo. Lebedev v Jones...now that was a terrible job.
Scott on the other hand, if he really wanted to continue (and I'm sceptical) needs to look at himself and ask why he stayed down so long.
His trainer was screaming "he was up on 8", when in reality he wasn't up until 9 and a bit.
This short piece sums it up for me:
If his physical condition suggested Scott was in a position to continue his body language unquestionably said the opposite. Even Chisora appeared surprised at the stoppage but tellingly the strongest outrage came from his trainer Jesse Reid and not the fighter himself.
A little excited?
Seriously? I guess I am not surprised as boxing journalists tend to be afraid to be too critical of anyone in fear of losing a connection somewhere down the road.
If you are a referee and you never start to say "10" out loud you know that you cannot stop the fight. He never even finished saying 9.
Lose access to what? GTFO...I just think sometimes human error is more likely than a conspiracy theory approach. The ref blew the call...hard for him to know ahead of time and formulate "I can screw this guy on a 9 count."
Both are good fighters. That should be a good scrap. Don't think this was a hometown thing...ref just got a little excited. Human error.
