From what most people say Nonito is more estadounidense than Filipino, I am wondering the day Manny leaves boxing, is there another home grown talented fighter that has potential to be the next major Filipino star/elite fighter/world ranked pound for pound best? I don't know too much about Filipino boxing and it's a serious question. There must be some good prospects out there, right?
I think it's interesting to see who will be the next megastar Filipino boxer who will carry the torch as far as bringing more fans from around the world to the sport we all love. I would say asian, but I want to talk about specifically Filipinos, mainly because if I made it about all asians, I feel like Japanese boxers have the largest talent pool/most champions, but again, I am not too familiar with Filipino boxing. Discuss?
Here's my breakdown to this question based on the province where I live.
My province has:
1) 7 cities
2) 40+ islands
3) 40+ towns
4) each town has 10-40 barangays
5) each barangay has 5+ sitios
Now:
1) most of the sitios has its own small basketball court
2) then the barangays has also its basketball court
3) then the towns have a gym which is literally a basketball court
4) no need to mention anymore the basketball courts in the cities, in schools, in some institutions, etc.
5) billiard tables are now surpassing basketball courts too...
And this province has only 3 known boxing stables. So literally you only have three boxing gyms where boxers trains. There are other boxing gyms of course but it's just for fitness, not for boxers.
To answer the TS, NO, he has no successor. Maybe 50 or 100 or even 200 years from now. Teens & adults here will watch NBA or PBA rather than boxing.
Finding Michael Jordan (lol) or Willie Mosconi or Efren Reyes successor is easier than finding MP successor.
Also, the "Philippines has stop when Manny fights" is exaggerated IMO. NBA or PBA finals here are as popular as Manny fighting. It just happens that Manny fights on Sundays, that's why they said "stop" because it's a rest day.Interesting, thanks for sharing.
there's one young undefeated prospect from the philippines named jun doliguez..he's fighting tomorrow in mexico. has good power, very aggressive, southpaw, decent defense, knows how to cut off the ring pretty good...not sure about his stamina or how well his chin is and he tends to get a little wild with his punches.
but he seems to be getting some decent hype and he just signed with zanfer promotions...
there are also the young penalosa brothers..both have good skill and big punching power...
:boxing: Where's the hype for this guy!

With TR as the promoter, plenty of fighters can fight and get schooled by good boxers with movement whilst beating shop-worn fighters coming off losses tailormade for a fighters style just like Pacjuiceman.
Child please.
Haha exactly my thoughts. Pacs a hof but honestly he fought tailor made guys at the right times of their careers.
Idiot! Pac was already a WBC flyweight champ at the age of 19. By the age of 24 he was already a 3 divisions champ and 2 lineal champ while your coward idol at this age was still fighting bums after bums taking care of his precious health. If you can't see the real deal and the pretender then you better change your sport to aerobics.

How is it ignorant? How is it not? You make a claim that "flowmos" "only" play this race card crap, and are "indoctrinated" to think racist when they hear the word "black", in the same paragraph. It's contradictory and false. Proof? Here, I am a "flowmo" and am not black, am not playing a race card, and give credit to any fighter when it's due, regardless of race/belief.
No need to explain to this dude man, trust me. Just with him mentioning flowmo is enough for you not to get down to his dumb ass level. You seem level headed and we need more people like you around here and less of idiotic fans. I am also a fan of floyd and I used to hate his freaking guts part of the reason being the unwarranted hate he gets and he is a great boxer. Off my soapbox.
how is it ignorant? Its only the flowmos who play this race card crap, they have been indoctrinated to think racist if anyone mentions the word BLACK, when what I said wasn't even racist or ignorant!

how is it ignorant? Boxing biggest fights have been dependent on nationality and many black boxing fans say they support the black boxer? I have no problem with it to be honest, as long as they give credit to the guy who beats their fighter.
You can support any one you want, I just don't like the racists who hate on any person who isn't there own race and plays the race card and don't give props to a fighter.
Like for example a lot of Mexicans supported Mexican fighters against Pacquiao, but when Pacman beat them they gave props. Its only the flowmos who play this race card crap, they have been indoctrinated to think racist if anyone mentions the word BLACK, when what I said wasn't even racist or ignorant!
Why does BET market to blacks? is that racist? seriously wake up already. Business people market to certain demographics.
Unless they tell you specifically, how would you know the color or nationality of a fan of a black boxer posting in this forum?
What does his color of skin have to do with anything? Are you insinuating fans of floyd mayweather are black? I am a Floyd fan and I am not. Are you a fan of boxing? Or a fan of boxers of a certain nationality/color? I am a fan of boxing.
Interesting you call someone else racially motivated but you post something ignorant like this.

I think it would be great for boxing if he did! I don't get into this My Country vs Your Country and this "PRIDEFUL COUNTRYMAN" BULLSH1T I just love the sport of boxing regardless of where the fighter is from.
Filipinos are a great fanbase and very loyal to their fighters, I think it would benefit all fighters you can keep that Filipino fanbase around after Pacquiao is gone
Sure some of those fans can be annoying but every fighter has fans that are fukin annoy and go overboard especially on the internet
Few as annoying as the ones he brought, but aside from that, I completely agree. Some people didn't read the OP or misunderstood the question, I never asked if somone "like" manny would come along again, I only asked if someone filipino would be similarly iconic, not as iconic, but will they have another international star. Who cares what his style is, just will there be another significant filipino boxer that may become a top 10 pvp fighter.

If Pacquiao were a black American he would surpass Floyd, every floyd fanatic would call Floyd a coward for ducking Pacman. Pacman is the biggest foreign draw ever in ppv boxing history and he isn't even a heavyweight so that in itself is already an accomplishment.

Interesting you call someone else racially motivated but you post something ignorant like this.
When did I say Zimmerman was outcold? do you have reading comprehension skils? you love twisting crap you are so racially motivated its disgusting get rid of that victim mentality man.
so we can't look at a person because of their skin color if someone looks at a suspicious guy who happens to have black skin we are racist now?
I didn't say you did.
Hectari, if you think wearing a hoodie makes every male suspicious then its all good. But if you think wearing a hoodie makes only ceratin males look suspicious then thats a problem.
If you want to debate privately or in the trayvon thread I will. I actually think we may find it refreshing. but I dont want to detract from this thread.
if you didn't make those posts I would not have had anything to quote.
this isn't a trayvon discussion thread-but since zimmerman wasn't out cold it makes no sense to bring up examples of people who were or died to make an argument.
I didn't sig the quotes because I think you're a racist. I sig'd the 1st one because it was funny. what exactly is a black power flowmo?
I sig'd the 2nd one because IMO it perfectly captured the short sighted mindset that too many people have. This tragic event didn't start with the fight-it started when zimmerman saw a black male in a hood.
But this is a manny appreciation thread.

The guy is like a whiney ex girlfriend, he spends his time on here calling people racists if they have a different opinion of his, and he was one of the first to bash Pac on catchweights and than defends Floyd for the catchweights he is super biased and a racist.
He doesn't offer any intelligent replies if you prove him wrong he resorts to playing the race card on you or he will just reply with SCARED OF NEEDLES, he thinks everyone is a Pactar who doesn't favor Floyd.
when did I call you a racist or a *******? and I called both floyd and manny on the cw. you don't have to lie dude. I mean yeah we don't agree all the time but you are really over reacting to a simple jab.
Of course he does. All it really takes is that one exceptional athlete to get the future generation interested in a particular sport.
We may not see it within the next 5 years, but surely somewhere down the line there will be inspired kids, from the Philippines, who enter into boxing and accomplish great things.
Well said.
Its funny how you are reaching in my quote. What is the purpose of bolding those two things? I can see you learned well from the left wing biased MSNBC on how to use propaganda to spew racial tension.
I said zimmerman shot trayvon in the chest, I never said he was out cold, I was giving an example of why it was self defense because there have been guys who have been knocked out and got brain damaged from repeated punches to the head while out cold, where did I say zimmerman was out cold?
Have you heard of the Delfino Mora case? some teens hit him one time and he died after that punch
You really are in panic black power mode right now super defensive paranoia mode lol get a life move forward already do something with yourself instead of thinking everyone is a racist because they don't like Floyds antics.
if you didn't make those posts I would not have had anything to quote.
