Thats exactly what a gatekeeper/journeyman is, a guy who's not good enough to win a title and and good fighter should beat. Who cares if he headlines or co-main events show? That doesnt take away from him being a gatekeeper.
maidana isnt a journeyman, more of a gatekeeper. the two arent necessarily synonymous.
Yes, he's using the Berto method, to a much worse degree actually. Just beat bums and wait to be ranked higher when all the other fighters fight each other. Berto became the #2 contender after beating Quitana:chairshot
You're spot on, it's literally the exact same thing except even worse lol.
he's not even with golden boy. maybe they ranked him so high to make alexander look better kinda like putting guerrero on the p4p list which was hilarious.
The only reason I can think of is that most of the other guys in their top 10 are relatively new to the WW division. Most of them have only had 1 or 2 fights at the weight. Brook's a career welterweight.
alternatively, ring are full of ish
That's the crazy thing. He's been ranked in the top 10 for 113 weeks now, which to me is laughable too. My guess is it has to do with his 0 and him just moving up because guys have left the weight class, lost, or retired. Either way it's a joke and makes no logical sense.

Words can't explain why, anyone who thinks he's actually the 4th best ww in the world (Floyd is ranked as champion) is kidding themselves.

It's nothing alike to what an actual journeyman is. As in, the literal meaning of he word.
A journeyman is a fighter who fights on a weekly basis, losing more time than not, for pay cheques traveling all across the country. Hence the term, "journeyman"
I dont know the proper word to use but i think u what what i mean
the ring has kell brook rated #3. how in the flying f-uck

Size is another thing, Jones has fought at light middle and I could be wrong but I think as high as middleweight. Hes not a small welterweight either and is a strong welter.
Maidana really is a blown up 140lb fighter who for me is soft at the weight.
That is another reason as to why I think Brook beats Alexander too, Brooks a big guy who doesn't have the wins/names on his resume but hes fought at welter his whole career & been in with big welterweights.
Both guys was shredded at 150.
Now you are just reaching. Devon got bigger when he finally became an adult, remember he was fighting in title fights when he was around the age of 20, and out grew 140. Sure he has only had 3 fights at 147, but that's his weight and he has looked impressive at it. Hell, he struggled to make 140 his last 3 or so fights at that weight.
So what if Brook has fought at 147 his entire career? Devon is a full fledged ww now and to suggest Brook has an advantage because he has more ww fights is silly.
He nearly got stopped by both guys. Karass is nothing but a tough guy, a fringe contender & Lopez is a barely top 15 light welter.
It just comes down to name value. Oh wow this guy beat say a Victor Ortiz, its like, who hasn't?
Most of these guys are nothing but names that have been pushed.
For me your Karass's and Lopez of the world are no better than a Matthew Hatton or say a Rafal Jackiewicz
He still beat them, that's just the kind of fighter he is. He takes a lot and gives a lot. But he has proven himself a lot more than Kell Brook has and to blame it one him fighting guys with better names is asinine. Yes, they have better names, but that's because they are better fighters.
And most of the people Ortiz has fought haven't. So beating him does hold credit.
I see it this way, if Carson Jones, a guy who's style isn't completely different than Maidan's, could get work in a much better Maidana would do a lot more and would probably hurt Brook.
The biggest question for me is size, because Brook is a big boy who is out growing WW very soon imo.

I get what you are saying when you put it that way.
Just watched the fight.
I wasnt impressed with Brook. He's a good fighter but he's so vulnerable at times.
He will undoubtedly struggle quite badly at the top level if he gets there.
Maidana isn't a gatekeeper/Journeyman, he headlines shows or Co Main events shows.
He was a top 5 at LWW and is a top 10 at WW.

Its an if though. He is slower than Jones, more flat-footed, doesn't have the head movement. He can't cut a ring off but that isn't to say he wouldn't beat Jones or isn't the better fighter.
Anybody who goes to Maidana's body has a shot at beating him for me.
I would fully expect Brook to school him with a few rough moments he'd have to weather.
Maidana is overrated due to the wars he gets in/him being vulnerable and his K.O ratio.
He is made for Brook and I'd expect it to look a lot like the Matthew Hatton fight.
