What do you think is up next for Lara??He won an exciting fight his last time out,do you think he can fight a Kirkland or Trout??Would you like to see him in against the winner of Mayweather Alvarez??Or maybe even the loser??Some thoughts?
I don't know about the next big thing, but tough fight for anyone at JR MW..
Yes i agree, he will be a tough out for anyone,, but some posters think he will just blow away canelo, trout, etc... I just dont see it...
I think he beats some guys and will lose to some.... He is a .500 top level guy
Im not that high on Lara like everybody else is,,, He has never blown me away with his performances...
Struggled vs molina
knocked down twice by angulo
Couldnt clearly defeat Paul williams, even though he probably should have won,, it wasnt a masterpiece
Horrible fight vs Vanes....
His best performance was blasting out Ronald Hearns,,,, ANd people think this dude is the next big thing...
I just dont get it

I don't think Lara Cotto would be competitive at all. It's a good fight for Lara. Not only would he beat Cotto easily he would also get his name out there so random fans would start to recognize him. Lara isn't a big name and way too dangerous so Floyd will not fight Lara unless he starts to make some noise.
Personally I think Lara would beat both Floyd and Alvarez and Trout
Molina says otherwise
Lara will likely fight Trout
fight will probably suck, but Lara will win it
there could still be a possible Molina rematch, though it's not needed
expect the WBA regular belt to become open after Floyd beats Alvarez
Lara will wind up with that strap next yr
Ishe Smith got injured and the fight was postponed, but it was by no means called off, that would be so unfair to Molina! I wouldn't be opposed to seeing a rematch with Angulo since the first fight was so close, but Lara-Trout makes the most sense in terms of determining a #1 contender for the belt Mayweather + Canelo are fighting over. Might not be the best fight to watch though, hopefully they stick that on an undercard. I don't have much interest in Rosado at this point, he needs to beat some better fighters. The fight was close because of the two knockdowns and he make him quit, what do you think it will happen if Lara is allow to rehydrate and they fight in a regular ring not in a phone booth? remember that he was fighting a lighthevy in a very small ring that is why Angulo was able to touch him, it was not enough space for a boxer like Lara, besides he don't deserve a rematch after turning his back on Lara, he quit...
and he is doing that.
they cashing out and that is the difference, he will get embarassed but not too beat up, they will claim that the loss was against the best fighter of this generation and move on to fight the jww's of the world...
Lara would beat Cotto easily imo. And would likely stop him. If Cotto beats Delvin, this would be a good exposure fight for Lara. I'd like to see him fight Kirkland if he gets back in the ring. If Canelo loses to Floyd, which I expect, Lara-Canelo is well overdue and would be a great one.
I would have loved to see Lara Kirkland like a yr ago..As it stands now,I can't even call what's good with Kirkland..
Lara vs Trout, I know it has the potential to be a big time stinker, but it's a good fight against two Top guys at 154.
It was up on boxrec for 9/14, but has since been taken down.
I know this is the norm with boxrec, but I'm wondering if it's not gonna happen.
Trout tweeted not that long ago about fighting in October.
Canelo's mandatory he's been dodging for quite some time. Golden Boy hates he beat Angulo because they can't keep him shelved and quite while Canelo gets the big opportunity to fight Floyd.
Trout is definitely the most logical option. Definitely could be a decent fight since Trout hasn't been in a bad fight since drastically stepping up his competition against Cotto & Canelo. Lara also has the confidence of hurting/stopping a tough guy like Anglo so I think he will be more aggressive and have better fights.
If he beats Trout he's definitely logically next for Canelo/Floyd as the next best contender at 154. Cotto/Lara would be badass though.

Landy must be a pretty cool guy; it looks like he spent quite a bit of time shooting the shit with you. The "European" Lara mentioned must not be very well known, otherwise he would've referred to him by name.
Actually it was only about 10 mins. We were both at a bar waiting to be seated to eat dinner. He was with family and I didn't want to be a groupie. We took a couple of pics and it was a wrap. Like I said, really cool humble dude.
Hmm interesting. The only European that means anything at 154 is probably Zaurbeck Baysangurov who holds the WBO strap
lmao This must be the guy. I wouldn't expect Lara to remember this name. :lol1:
I actually bumped into Lara last month while on vacation at a resort in the Dominican Republic. First of all, really cool dude. Very fan friendly. Well, I asked him what's on deck and he said he wanted Cotto next and his management was negotiating with 3 fighters. Cotto, "a European", and Ishe Smith. I had to break it to him that it looked like Delvin or K9 was getting the payday and he seemed really salty about it. I don't know who he was referring to when he said "a european" but I recommended to him to go after Ishe's weak strap. I also told him I thought it was BS how his own promoter has been keeping him from Canelo and how in house fights are so simple to make they are obviously protecting Canelo. He just shrugged it off and said he really wanted Cotto.

My takeaway from our conversation was that he wanted the Cotto payday (and easy win). And in lieu of that opportunity he wants a strap/any strap to at least give him a bargaining chip to get a name fighter in the ring.
