SEPT 14 2013 will be an interesting night of boxing. I noticed in many of Money's fights he uses his elbows and forearm against his opponents neck and face to then connect with his punches a clever way to measure his opponents.watch this video to see what I am referring to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqldHEJ4p7U&feature=related How many warning should he get before points are deducted will the referee let them fight when in clinch and fight it out or will the referee keep interfering and breaking it up.Do you guys think Canelo has a plan for those tactics?? :boxing:
If you're not convicted, it's legal right? See OJ, Zimmerman...
Bottom line is the boxers need to have a game plan for the likes of Floyd, Bhop, Holyfield, Bradley... Can you see anybody getting dirty with a Duran? I'm hoping Matthysse has the same nasty streak. Most boxers today are too clean, Pacquiao included. If you're not going to do something about the nasty then your tough luck.
prohibited from kicking, head-butting, or hitting with any part of the arm other than the knuckles of a closed fist (including hitting with the elbow, shoulder or forearm, as well as with open gloves, the wrist, the inside, back or side of the hand). They are prohibited as well from hitting the back, back of the neck or head (called a "rabbit-punch") or the kidneys. They are prohibited from , holding an opponent while punching, or ducking below the belt of their opponent (dropping below the waist of your opponent, no matter the distance between). based on the video it shows money doing all in bold letters.
Was this fight at lightweight? He looks like a small fighter there compared to the welterweight of today.
Messed up he never fought Tszyu.
This was his first fight at 147. It was right after Gatti and before Zab. Hes grown into the division quite nicely since then. The Tszyu fight would've been awesome. It's too bad they couldn't make it happen.

I didn't say a fighter did anything bad, I said people support fighters like Erik Morales and Antonio Margarito two people that blatantly cheats and yet praises them for doing those things. Yet are reaching to blast Floyd for techniques that aren't particularly legal or illegal.
What Floyd does is not exactly illegal, if he used his elbow as a strike then yes it's illegal but he never uses it in that manner.
That ref in the castillo fight was a very subpar ref, not only in the castillo fight but in every fight he reffed on tv.
I agree that that ref was not great but on Floyd's move, he had it right.
Floyd was warned numerous times then was deducted a point for continuing to use his elbow. Did the commentators or anyone disagree? No!
When you're in a clinch and you throw a looping punch, of course you intend to hit your opponent behind the head. This can't be a serious question.
You had brought up the Manny fight vs Hatton. Maybe there was a specific punch that I can't remember that you would have to point me to ..... but from what I saw, the action was intense and so was the movement (especially by Manny). When a fighter comes in while the opponent is simultaneously throwing a punch, there is a possibility that the punch ends up lower than expected. You are calling that intentional. I saw it as stated above.
When Hatton got deducted a point against Floyd, that was a bad call.
Absolutely not, and it wasn't legal what Broner was doing in the Malignaggi fight either.
However, the officials protect the money (excuse the pun) so they get away with it.
No it's not legal neither was the grappling and UFC wwe moves that Hatton used. But money talks and Floyd brings it and so did Hatton
Every great fighter there has ever been has broken and bent the rules to gain an advantage, Mayweather is no different in that regard. It is a bit annoying that referees rarely call him out on his use of the elbow and forearm though, it should at least be more consistently recognized by referees during his fights that he is doing it. Using a Hatton fight to indicate the illegal practices of his opponent is about as ironical as it gets. If the queensberry rules were applied in the most puritanical way possible then Hatton would not have had a boxing career and neither would most fighters. Hatton was more than competent at the dark arts of boxing.
It is up to Mayweather's opponents to mention the forearm and elbow as much as possible leading up to the fight, as well as during, bombarding the referee with such complaints.

Good post, i'd trust Harold's opinion over the average fight fan.
Lederman is a credible source. I'm surprised no one mentioned this before. It's a tough issue though but I wouldn't expect a well schooled fighter to purposely cheat. I would, however, expect a fighter to know the rules and push them to the limit and take advantage where possible.
Intentional you think or just landed in an area that was not legal?

Rewatch the Hatton/Pacquiao fight and count how many low blows and rabbit punches Hatton throws in less than 2 rounds. His brother is even worse than him though.

You mean like the time he got deducted a point for not even touching Floyd? Floyd gets away with it more than others would.
