NFL and NBA are in the offseason, so they would get full media coverage from the sports world. Is there a reason Big fights never happen in the summer?
July 4th weekend typically draws poor TV ratings. However, the UFC has carved out a niche on this date (same goes for new years eve cards, another no-go for boxing), so it's possible.
Because boxing rates about 10th on the sports list around here.
Why don't Mexican basketball players hold a tournament on Sept 16th?
LOL, that is ****ing retarded.
This is a good question. I think they should give it a try. Americans aren't big boxing fans like in the past. Mexicans on the other hand are the most dedicated. This is why the biggest fights are on cinco de mayo. Also, during the 4th of July there are a lot of factors to consider. Many people travel during this weekend. People barbecue and go to the beach.
Also, Floyd has followed the blueprint of Mexico's biggest star. Once he retires, maybe the next American star tries something different. How do we get boxing back in the mainstream in the US?
Good question. I think it would be perfect to have a top American fighter fight on July 4th if it fell on a sat or even sun n just fight the 3rd. Celebrate the whole wkend. That would be great vs like a European or Mexican.
