Garcia only good win s against khan and morales didn't get a free pass he fought his azz off too.
Morales comeback fights were Alfaro, Limond (for some WBC Silver title), Lorenzo, and a good showing loss against Maidana for the title. Then the next fight thte title was vacated and he fought Cano instead of Garcia.
The WBC controlled that outcome.
None of those fighters but Maidana were doing anything noticeble in the sport.
Garcia fought a couple of fringe contenders but had wins over rank ones like Theophane, Campbell and beat Holt for the # 2 spot.
Morales got his shot cause his name and brings money to the fights. The second fight against Garcia should had never happened especially after Garcia KOed Khan
Garcia fought his way to the mandatory position for a crack at the title. Morales got the free pass against Cano.

IMO Lucas is the favorite in this fight. But I'm rooting for the underog to beat the odds that are stacked against him.
This fight is ripe for the making now. I waited for the Khan/Bradley that never happened. I hope this one gets done
I wish that were true. That the fans would pressure Promoters into making big fights but I don't believe this fight was made because of the backlash it would have created.
GBP and TR do whatever they want, and pour in money to try and change the common fans perspective.
Meanwhile fighters like Martinez, Williams (during his time), GGG, Matthysse, Rigo among other had to earn there spot the hard way. And still, big name fighters avoid to fight or unify with them.
For example Sergio, was completely avoided at 154 being rank #1 by the WBC for two years, and had to fight another avoided fighter in Paul Williams to earn some recognition. Eventually had to go up to 160 because nobody would have ever faced him in his natural weight class.
Matthysse has been hanging around 140 for a while and had to face two controversial loses, ko WBC poster child Humberto Soto and fight undefeated Ajose, while Morales and Garcia would get free passes to the title.
We the fans are sometimes are made to think we push for fights but in the end it's the promoters or even the fighters calling the shots.
Garcia v. Matthysse was going to be done regardless of the backlash. Schaefer was elated with Lucas victory over Peterson going as far as calling him the next Manny Pacquiao. Danny's stock fell against Judah and if he ends up losing, there's still Lamont Peterson in the picture. GBP are still in a win win situation.

The fans have spoken. This is like the new xbox one and all their crap policies no one want, everyone ****ted on Microsoft and they were forced to remove the crappy policies. Same thing here.

am i the only one who doesnt think this fight is a big deal?!!!
its just a good fight if it gets made between two fighters that dont really bring anything special.
i mean, garcia is very average in my opinion. matthysse has decent power but again, not so high in the skills department.
its one of those fights that might as well happen, its just good for boxing overall

I hope we see it announced soon and I hope we see it the weekend before Mayweather/Canelo. Would be a great fight to get people hyped for the big show on Sept. 14.
Still trying to figure out why people are so convinced Lucas will brutally KO Danny. Reminds me of the Khan fight when no one gave him a shot and he shocked the world.
Not saying Garcia will win guaranteed, but this fight is a lot closer than it seems many people think. Not a big fan of either i just want to see the best fight the best in each division.
he's lying, notice he touches his face when he says he's doing his job; that's a tell, at least according to a seinfeld episode. btw he says a week to ten days, not 3 to 10, just to clarify so there aren't 50 more threads on monday asking why hasn't the fight been signed.
Have your ears checked bro, cause he definitely says 3 to 10.
