In other words, domination of the young Mexicans taking their first real real step up in class. Not comparing Alvarez to Chavez or Floyd to Sergio, but in terms of how the match plays out.
What I'm saying is, does anyone else think Floyd will have a relatively easy time with Canelo unless the young one shows something brand spankin' new come fight night?

He won't have to. Gasnelo doesn't apply that level of pressure
What's interesting is how will Alvarez react when Floyd hits him in the body causing him to gas
At least somebody gets it. They swear size alone is good enough to pressure a fighter...

I think Canelo will win, it might be a struggle though, Floyd is no push-over, I always thought Trout was a great boxer and see what Canelo did to him, Trout = last 3 Floyd opps.
This is a 50/50 fight, a toss up
What exactly did Canelo do to Trout? Explain...

I think your going to be surprised

Exactly, what I'm confused by is why people think Canelo is some big come forward pressure fighter....he's not and he gasses easy enough as it is.... if he tries to turn into one for this fight it'll be bad bad news.
i could see this...i dont think canelo will wait so late as cesar jr did though... he'll get outboxed at least 5-6, then let the trigger go whammer hammer..

Floyd "Hardwork Dedication...oh and catchweights" Mayweather will of course be in supreme physical condition for this fight. As always.
His goal will be to keep it even while simultaneously making Saul work harder than he wants to.
After 6 or 7 rounds (maybe less if Floyd goes to the body alot) Canelo will gas and then PBF (oh and catchweights) will start lighting him up pretty much at will.
However, ever mindful of risk, Money (oh and catchweights too) will fail to press his advantage and Alvarez will see the final bell but lose a wide UD.
On the other hand, Canelo is skilled and strong and confident.
If he magically develops great stamina to go along with it, despite having to cut an extra couple of pounds, then I can see him being a legit threat to Floyd & catchweights.
But imo, that's a pretty big if.
I see 8 rounds to 4 for Floyd. I think late in the fight Canelo will get frustrated and stop throwing. I would love to see Floyd open up more and look for the KO.
Guerrero and Cotto won 3 rounds against Mayweather. Canelo is 2 inches taller and has 3½ inches more reach than Cotto and is fresher too. Canelo is just an all-round better fighter than Guerrero, and has a slight height and reach advantage over him too.
Based on this, I expect Canelo to win about 5 rounds. He might even pull off the upset.
Canelo is only an inch taller than Cotto, he and Floyd are basically the same height as you can see from the photos. Showtime had Canelo standing at 5'7 1/2 not the 5'9 that boxrec has him at.
And to the OP, No this fight won't look like Chavez jr. vs Martinez. Chavez overlooked Martinez and Canelo is an all around better boxer than Chavez. However, Floyd is fresher and a better boxer than Martinez so it is possible we could see a dominating performance. But I don't expect that, I expect a competitive fight where Floyd wins a close but clear decision.

floyd cant be easier than trout if thats what you mean lol
No but triangles theories never work. Trout is huge, in his 1st division and is Southpaw. Floyd is small, in his 5th division, and is orthodox. Don't sleep on that. Not to mentioned how much older Floyd is than Trout
Canelo claims he's going to try and play chess with Floyd. If he does so he'll end up like the others. Floyd specializes in confusing his opponents to the point of despair. Many of them give up before the fight is over. Floyd "has no rhythm" - his words. That means Canelo is going to be a very confused boy by the third or fourth round. I'll have my pillow and blanket on hand in case I need to catch a nap during the mid rounds...
to be fair, I think Trout is a very good fighter. Chavez never fought anyone like that. There are probably some on here who think that Trout is the harder fighter to beat at Jr MW between him and Floyd
none compare to floyd anyways lara better than trout imo.

Andy Lee = Trout

Agreed, I think that Lee was the equivalent to Trout. Not a particularly great fighter, just a good fighter with a few decent wins.
the only way floyd doesn't unanimous decision this fool is if he gets robbed but i see canelo loosing 9+ rounds like floyd said...
even trout was giving canelo a boxing lesson before that right hand in the 7th and even then i still had trout winning that round with the knockdown.
theres a big reason canelo's not top 10 p4p, is simply because he's a big name with no real boxing skills.
Trout is a Southpaw though. I think Canelo would've done better if Trout were a righty

Floyd vs Alvarez, going to be shades of Martinez vs Chavez Jr.? | BoxingScene Community
