So, I have been watching classic JCC fights and remembered that this fight was being mentioned around 1994. Both are battle tested warriors who loved infighting and going toe to toe. Chávez had one of the best boxing records ever and he would be going against one of the hardest punching welterweights of all time. Trinidad was undefeated at 147 and never lost a firefight, he was also the naturally bigger guy although Chávez had a big edge in experience and championship fights.
What are your thoughts? Maybe it's too much to ask to a few around here but try to keep it boxing related at all times. It would be nice to have a good, troll free discussion going.
In reality it would've been better than some of the bums Trinidad was fighting from '95 to late '98, though.
Of course, it would have been a megafight back then. After a very productive 1994, Trinidad was harmed by poor management which resulted in fights against weak opponents. That was until 1999, when he started the run that solidified his status a a great fighter.
Don King was trying to find options for another JCC welterweight fight since a Whitaker rematch aint possible, and yes this was mentioned upon in '94. At that time I'll already be picking Tito by lopsided decision, similar to Trinidad's win over Camacho.
Finally, someone who is aware of the discussions that took place back in 1994. Glad to see an informed reply regarding this fight that never took place.
It took long enough for the trolls and uniformed to make an appearance. If you don't know jack about the boxing scene's discussions back in 1994 then keep away from the thread. If anyone looks stupid by not knowing boxing history and fights that were actually being discussed at a certain point in time it's you, wiseass noobs.

I think that Trinidad would have won but I could see JCC going the full 12 rounds because of determination and will. This is one of my favorite "what if" matches ever, one of those that never took place but you always keep wondering about them.
Trinidad by brutal ko...
I love chavez but he would walk into huge bombs by tito and get iced in under 6...
Would have liked to see jcc vs srl in 1997 instead of srl v camacho
I see a couple of votes for JCC yet no one has picked him here. What's going on? Voting without stating why does not hold as much water as an informed response along with the vote.
Chavez would have made it interesting with his will and determination but I don't see him beating Tito at 147. That was above his jurisdiction. Chavez wasn't prime at 147 either.
This, more or less, is what I think of the fight. I also think Chávez' experience in big fights could be a factor but Trinidad had all the physical advantages.
Only Oscar truly gave Tito a run for his money(thoroughly outclassing Tito) at 147 I can't see a out of his prime Chavez sr. beating him at that weight it would be a hell of a scrap while it lasted.

The simple case of a fighter being naturally bigger and younger against an older naturally smaller fighter. Their careers never crossed paths.
Chavez Sr fought ODLH at 140 and Whitaker on a CW
