Do black guys in America really metal braces om their teeth, to look good?

I think grillz look very stupid but there was no reason at all for the OP to say "black" Americans. First of all this is a boxing forumn so why are grillz even being discussed? And lastly the OP could have just said people that wear grillz but no he chose to say black for a obvious reason.

It isn't a regional thing at all. I grew up in NYC in the 80s and dudes were rocking them way back when. You can go to any of the 5 Boros and find gold grill spots today. I've lived in DC, The Bay, and now ChiTown and hood dudes rock them everywhere I've been. It's a "'Hood Rich" thing. Same reason dudes buy expensive cars, expensive rims, expensive cloths, and expensive jewelry. There have been dissertations written about the spending habits of young males in low income areas. It is what it is. If you don't like it then look for a fashion assessory forum and post there. Otherwise talk about boxing or move along.

Gold grills will always be popular in Texas. I'm pretty sure the same could be said for other cities like Memphis, New Orleans, St. Louis etc.

It's a down south thing. If you go to places like Houston you will see Mexican, Asians, Blacks and Whites rocking them. It's not a black thing, more so a hip-hop/down south thing. BTW reading some of these replies makes me wonder if some of you guys have ever met a black person in real life....smh

Started long ago (70's 80's. Not sure how far back it goes, dont feel like looking into it), but on a smaller scale. People would have 1 or 2 gold caps, then people took it over board over time.
