hey guy,s salido has totally ruined lopez... his career is over... he,s slow, and is always opened for counters... good luck lopez... it was great while it lasted... do anyone else feels that lopez should retire????
even though mikey came in overweight, he would,ve a problem finding lopez... i know everyone watched the fight so did you guy,s see that jab he was hitting juamma with? that sht was like a laser beam... direct hit everytime... poor head movement and the curtain shall fall... again, good luck and hopefully he had some investments on the side because he,s a fight away from getting permanently damaged...
He even sounded punch drunk in his interview(the one before the fight). I really think salido finished him, I didn't think salido did that much damage on him but it was evident tonight.
Because he was and has been punchy for a long time. Somebody needs to tell "boxing expert" Max Kellerman. He had no clue based on his commentary.
The first Salido fight was the end of the line.
Juanma got a beating towards the end of that fight and has gotten worse in every outing since. He didn't even look like a boxer last night; terrible footwork, awful technique with his punching, no idea of what defense is...
Done.

The sad thing is I still think Juan Ma thinks that all his fights were not legitimate losses. In the Salido fights he thought the ref stopped the fight prematurely. In the Garcia fight when the ref stepped in he looked as if he thought it was an early stoppage. This becomes dangerous because eother he doesnt want to or genuinely cannot see that his skills have declined and it is time to pack it in before he ends up with permanent injury (if he hasn't already).
It is just crazy how fighters go from all this hype to fizzling out before really even reaching his PRIME. But lack of Defense, lack of head movement is what ruined his career!
isnt that the type of guys shaeffer loves to promote though? lol
I think Mtagwa should get the initial credit not Salido....But that being said since he hasn't made any improvements in his defense whatsoever and looked even more punch drunk Against Shovel Face and unlike Guys like Rigo and Gamboa who had very easy 20's etc And look like very young 30 year olds Juanma should retire before he takes any long lasting damage. He should stop before his birthday He just gets hit too easily and is not taking it well anymore it's a real shame.
Mtagwa really exposed him, though I truly believe that it was his own ego which beat him in the long run. Too much "cool-aid", not enough smarts or talents.
Stupid assertion. Pre mtagwa,, Lopez is still Lopez, still fights like Lopez. Still has Lopez' defense, and mediocre in ring Iq. Salido pushes him to the brink before and after.... anyone.
True but I think Mtagwa should get the initial credit not Salido on showing Juanmas flaws, and the toll that those flaws could and did eventually take on him.

Juanma was one of the most impressive prospects to come out of Puerto Rico a few years back. I for one was very impressed with his punches and power. I think that many of us in Puerto Rico were hyped about him as being the next big champion from the island. In hindsight we were just blinded with wishful thinking. I realized this when he struggled with Mtagwa and especially against an expired old champion Rafael Marquez when in trouble all he could offer was a standoff.
Due to his outgoing persona (as opposed to Cotto), his prospectus, and his relationship with Puerto Rican favorite Felix Trinidad, Juanmas popularity soared prematurely. He drank, and then drank some more of his own cool-aid and of course figured in his own head that he was the next big thing in Puerto Rican boxing when in reality he had not accomplished much at all and the quiet Champion Miguel Cotto stood above him gracefully.
Juanma was simply a warrior-- the kid could bang. He never fixed nor adjusted his defensive flaws because he lacked the innate ability to do so. Some clamored for a change in trainer, but it is too obvious that a move like that would have solved nothing. I knew he would get beaten badly against Mickey. Now, I just hope that he hangs them up for good and takes care of his health and his family.
The Puerto Rican Curious George looked like an amateur tonight, oh how the mighty have fallen.
Red K for the monkey reference man. No need for that here.
Salido didnt ruin Lopez.... Lopez ruined Lopez.... Salido just opened everyones eyes to Lopez' lackluster defense, and subpar boxing ability. Hes a good fighter, withh heart... but smarts take him out.
Nuff said. Good post Roy.

All the credit should actually go to Rogers Mtagwa, he was the one that ruined Juanma. Pre-Mtagwa Juanma KO's Salido.

Couldn't agree more, Reed.:fing02:
Mtagwa got some good shots in on juanma but Salido put it on him for 2 fights.
