Stylistically I think Pacquaio would destroy canelo, much harder fight for canelo than mayweather, pacquaio would be too fast and canelo is not that good at setting traps, he wont be able to overpower pacquaio hes too fast for that, just cause marquez beat him with perfect counterpunching I doubt canelo would be able to survive pacquaios wave of attack that destroyed cotto/mosley/margarito
I'll go what history suggests. If Floyd beat Canelo so Pac will just like how he beat easily their 4 common opponents (Oscar, Hatton, Mosley, Cotto).
That makes no sense. Triangle theories don't work in boxing. Floyd beat an over the hill Oscar, Manny beat an even more over the hill and weight drained Oscar, so Manny's victory really doesn't count in my book. Mosley? Mosley was way too old and also is a less credible victory for Manny, a prime Mosley would have given him a war. Only Cotto is comparable, and even then, we haven't even talked about how styles match up.
Canelo isn't exactly flat footed he does move around and try to get different looks before he mount an attack. He is a thinker in the ring, something that many opponents that Pacquiao faced wasn't. Also as someone mentioned he has a straight right hand that is pretty accurate. Pacquiao gets hit alot by that punch as well as the jab. Canelo is not going to win this fight by power but by outsmarting Pacquiao which I think he more than capable of doing. No one put alot in weight but it does impose a difference in how punches affect a boxer, Pacquiao also wouldn't fight a healthy Alvarez or anyone above 150 and a rehydration clause. Canelo also have a good body attack something that will affect Pac, just look at the Marg fight and his previous two K.O losses and you will see how much body punches effect his boxing.
Canelo would struggle to land clean against Pacquiao he would be too quick, yeah Canelo can look good against Stationary fighters who stand right in front of him, Pacquiao moves...A LOT, he can dart in and out and strike from just about any and every angle. Canelo should slightly better movement in his feet against Trout and should that he can bounce around a bit but he is still flat footed and once he gets tired, he really becomes sluggish and flat footed
Pacquiao would dart in and out landing what ever he wants against Canelo and be quick enough to be gone by the time Canelo tries to counter, you beat Pacquiao with Counters and timing, Canelo don't have neither of that
I think those ALT in red should never allowed to post here in NSB or much better ban them immediately. They are polluting the board with their nonsense.
There is no proof that Marquez used PEDs just speculation. You are playing dumb here and hypocrite. The floydiots are quick to believe and swore Pac was on PED after their coward hero accusation but then after Floyd paid Pac for the damages he made, declared Pac a great fighter never on PED they stick their gun on the accusation. Only the low iq floydiots will believe Marquez hired Heredia just to jerk him off just like Floyd monthly visit to his TRT friend clinic to play poker game.
YES! Lets be honest, Pacquiao built his Career up fighting Flat Footed Mexican fighters, to me he looks his BEST against that style. So yeah I think Pacquiao would STOP Canelo. Fans put way too much into size and weight, that sh1t a lot don't win fights. You still have to go out and connect with your Power and if you don't know how to use your size to your advantage then your carrying extra weight for nothing
i don't know ..mosley looked petrified against pacquiao and got knocked down easily with one punch..againsy canelo, mosley didn't have a problem eating up punches and coming forward all night.
pacquiao's speed, stamina, punching power, and footwork would pose too much of a problem for canelo...
A good point. I would take Pac over Canelo. Can't wait to see how Pac looks against Rios.
I'd still give a current Pacquiao the edge now(the version from JMM IV) over Canelo. We all saw Canelo slip Trouts little pitter pat punches and if Canelo's stamina can't keep up with Manny's work rate it won't end up well.
Although considering the weight disadvantage, I wouldn't be surprised if Canelo could beat Manny simply by punching with Manny with those snapping combos he has shown.
He is fighting the best in the world thats pretty elite , and you will see the kid can really fight , but wait youve seen him fight before havent you , and you cant tell Canelo is A grade , I get it , you got to see big names for his wins to verify to you that he can cut it at top level , you understand he has 20 pounds on Floyd as well right , hmmmmmmm , not fit for Pac you say , but Rios is , really !
You comparing apples to oranges. Manny is coming back after a KO.
You talk about Manny fighting and criticize ..... An even older version of Mosley had an easier time with the bigger Canelo than against Manny. With Manny, Mosley was running away. When have you ever seen Mosley run away like that for the entire fight? Against, what you called the grade A fighter, Mosley was trying to win until the end and did better.
Yes it's important to see names (resume) as that is one way you can gauge the fighter. Of course, it doesn't always work that way because styles makes fights. So you can look great against one great fighter then look average against another due to styles.
Canelo is on the upswing but he needed more time before facing a Floyd type fighter. He is going into this fight without first resolving his major issues and even taking a CW that may actually augment his known problems. Now he may get lucky and turn it around with this training camp but the odds are against that from happening ..... BUT it has happened before. Still, seeing Canelo's style, it would take several fights for him to improve to that point, if ever, IMO.
The only way to know how Pac will do against Oscar, Hatton and Mosley compare to Floyd performance against them is to fight them. Otherwise you guys will keep saying Oscar, Hatton Mosley will beat Pac easily. Fast forward, despite the fact Pac had only one fight at 135 to boot, Pac beat Oscar, Hatton, Mosley and Cotto easily without making a sweat while Floyd went life and death over them. Now according to these reliable facts, Pac should also beat Canelo.
I could KO Ali right now , so whats really in a name on your belt if they not what the name represents ? hypes a wonderful thing it can sell snow to Eskimos .
WOW thats unreal maybe Manny should be fighting Canelo instead off B grade Rios , I mean he did all that greatness to all them there big names , I can see how your thinking ,, Floyd got no chance against the kids army !

Exactly.
People seem to think how big Canelo is automatically makes him a huge puncher, but he couldn't even knock down Mosley, where as Pacquiao did, with Mosley stating at the post-fight conference that he has never felt that kind of power before and he was very hurt by the knockdown and shocked.
Make no mistake about it Canelo is one of the top10 if not 5 biggest punchers in the sport
You should also see how Pac made Oscar, Hatton, Mosley and Cotto crumbled under pressure and compare it to Floyd fights against them.

Crazy in his comeback from retirement, how Mayweather is able to make anyone he fights crumble under the pressure, and become hesitant/frustrated.
You can see it all in the faces of Marquez, Mosley, Ortiz, Guerrero "the what do i gotta do?" look
The only one who was able to step up into the bright lights, pressure was Cotto. He gave all he could in that fight and did not shy away from becoming great
We shall see from Canelo in Sept. cuz the Trout fight he died out there a little bit and got tired
