DAVID HAYE and Tyson Fury could earn a staggering £5m EACH in a megabucks bout this year.
Negotiations are progressing for a September 28 blockbuster between Britain’s two top heavyweights at the Manchester Arena.
Haye’s co-promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed that talks are taking place and said: “It’s now a case of getting both fighters to cross the line.”
At the Fury camp, his uncle and trainer Peter said: “We want Haye. If the fight does not happen, it won’t be down to Tyson.”
The fight would be a 22,000 sell-out with pay-per-view takings likely to be sky-high in what will be an eagerly anticipated contest.
Hearn said: “It is a fight that will have enormous interest and it could generate one of the biggest pay-per-view figures of all time.”
Hearn’s Matchroom organization has a four-fight deal with former WBA champ Haye, who has not fought since July last year. Click Here To Read More]
It's an ideal fight for Haye. Fury isn't very good, but has an undefeated record, a lot of unsubstantiated hype behind him, and a British following. There's no doubt about the result, though - Haye will win easily after circling around him like a timid matador for the first three rounds.
it's an okay fight but not ppv worthy. ppv should be reserved for the best of the best.
Wrong. PPV is reserved for whoever is going to sell PPV's. Haye vs Fury will sell.
Obviously it won't be on PPV anywhere else, its two British fighters. Just like Chad Dawson vs Bernard Hopkins would never be on PPV anywhere other than America. Most of Mayweather and Pacquiao's fights aren't PPV here.
I take your point though. David Haye himself should never be on PPV again after he single handedly ended it in the first place.
Good points. Spot on :ANYWORD:
Interesting fight. I think it could be more competitive than some are saying, especially if fury can make it out of the first 5-6. I still reckon Haye was beginning to gas in the Chisora fight.
One of the biggest fights that could be made in boxing right now and loads can only moan lol
The trash talk will be worth £15 on its own!
Exactly :lol1: I don't get it. This is a huge fight and a good fight.
I can't complain for £15. I might even go. Depends if I go Mayweather-Canelo or not.
The trash talk is going to be immense. You know Fury is going to have some hilarous lines and Haye will have the odd gem too.
I didn't read the article and i don't care about this fight;c'mon if light hitter cruiserweight like Steve Cunningham scored a knock down i really believed David Haye will stop Fury without big problems in 6/7 rounds!!!

Hi Dirk...
It is a good fight. Would be by far the toughest HW opponent either man has faced (removing Wlad from equation)
That being said I resent the fact already that the winner of this fight will somehow become by default the "best non Klitschko HW" while so many other fighters who are much more active and have more top-10 wins get pushed aside.
Everyone knows the winner of this fight is just going to sit on their ass and wait for a Klitschko fight as if they are entitled to it.
Beating someone like Pulev to actually earn the shot? Not in a million years.
Sadly those attitudes are fostered and supported by fans who pay PPV money for fights like Haye-Harrison.
When a fight like Haye-Fury gets so overblown that it gets put on PPV it is bad for the division and sport. This fight should be free to the fans who actually supported Haye's pathetic run at HW with their hard earned money.
Pretty sure most people outside of the UK will be watching via an illegal stream, anyway.
I understand and agree with your notion.
What my post is saying is this fight is a big fight in the UK. It's a fight that's going to attract the casual audience.
It's a good fight regardless. They're the best 2 HW's in the UK and both Top 10 HW's.

I understand that. There is just no logical justification for it based on their in ring accomplishments.
Your post is essentially saying "UK fans favor style over substance"
Either that of for some reason they find Khan and Brook more compelling because they are not white.
No matter the rationale I will never understand why UK fans support a loudmouth braggart like Haye who has fleeced them with a PPV farce like Audley over a guy like Carl Froch who goes balls to the wall against the best in the world every time out and throws more punches in 3 rounds than Haye does in 12.

Well, Brook and Fury are more known than Degale, Groves and Cleverly.
If Groves or Degale made the noise Fury has then a fight with Froch would be bigger than anything else at the moment.
Froch has only recently come into the mainstream in the UK so that's why guy's like Haye and Khan are bigger names despite not being as good as him.
That said, Froch-Kessler 2, a fight where one of the fighters wasn't from the UK is probably bigger than both of those fights regardless and was on PPV.

To be fair, Fury would dispose of Harrison pretty damn quickly. Fury beat Chisora and Cunningham, who both would have beaten Harrison. Kevin Johnson probably would have too.
I'm not so sure to be honest.
Harrison is a decent boxer when he fights someone who hasn't got a big punch. He's just too chinny to fight guys like Wilder, Haye & Price.
I'd like to see a Fury-Harrison matchup actually.
Honestly it just pisses me off as someone who has been a Carl Froch fan since the Pascal fight and has watched while he fights 5-6 opponents in a row who are all superior to anyone Fury or Haye has ever beaten.
Better than anyone Khan or Brook have ever beaten.
Froch at 168 is much better than Haye is as a HW
Degale, Groves or Cleverly are more legitimate than Tyson Fury as opponents.
A fight between Froch and any of those 3 would feature far superior fighters in a much more competitive fight.
It would also be much more legitimate than Khan-Brook which is essentially a domestic match up between a guy who gets knocked out or beaten by every world class fighter he faces and a guy who gets injured before he steps in the ring 75% of the time.
The fact that Haye-Fury and Khan-Brook are considered better UK fights than Froch and one of his contemporaries is a perfect example of why UK boxing is sh*t and the fans deserve reproach.
Quoted for truth. Well said!
