Hold on a minute bro, there's still time for a phantom hand injury.
If he gets in the ring with Kovalev, i will apologize wholeheartedly.
Cleverly just announced the fight is Signed, Sealed and Delivered.
The fight is officially on.

Sergey Kovalev is a mean puncher! hardest sparring partner i have had. Punches harder than Marco Huck, Robert Helenius.
Kovalev by KO inside 8 rounds.
I thought the last fight was questionable, the first one was a solid win for Murat imo.
I think so too, but Cleverly is incredibly fast for LHW and he takes a good punch. He'll get in close and let the punches fly to the body and head from the get-go and I just see him stealing way too many rounds early on.
But the Hopkins fight definitely makes more sense, both interest wise and financially, though Kovalev might be a closer fight. If Cleverly beats hopkins, I think he'd go for winner of Adonis/Bellew rather than Kovalev tbh.
He is very fast hes also deceptively strong I mean hes quite a lanky guy but appears very strong. I think a lot of criticism comes from Frank Warren protecting him.
I wouldn't blame him at all if he did that, in fact I think that would be smart and probably what anybody in his shoes would do and those IMO are all winnable fights for him. I'd definitely say there was less risk and more to gain from them than a fight with Kovalev.
Warren never offered Shumenov Feb. 25 Unification fight vs. Cleverly
January 3rd, 2012 | Post Comment
LAS VEGAS (January 3, 2012) – Hall of Fame promoter Don Chargin, advisor for World Boxing Association (“WBA”) and International Boxing Association (“IBA”) light heavyweight World champion Beibut Shumenov, has responded to a press release issued by Frank Warren Promotions that claimed Shumenov turned down a unification offer to fight World Boxing Organization (“WBO”) titlist Nathan Cleverly.
The press release announced that Cleverly will be defending his WBO title February 25 against Tommy Karpency in Wales. It also claimed: An offer went to WBA title-holder Beibut Shumenov to face Cleverly, but he said he would not be ready in time – although it could happen later this year.
Back in November, Chargin reached out to Warren, after reading stories that Cleverly was interested in a unification fight against Beibut. Chargin spoke twice to Warren’s matchmaker, Dean Powell, but Don didn’t hear back until he received an email yesterday.
“I thought that it was strange to get an email just yesterday asking what it would take to get Beibut to come to the UK, especially where we had been talking by phone, and they never responded to our offer weeks ago for Cleverly to fight Beibut in Las Vegas,” Chargin said. “The next day they announce a fight between Cleverly and Karpency? The truth of the matter is Beibut never turned down any fight against Cleverly because they didn’t make an offer to us. We offered them a fight against Shumenov in Las Vegas and they never even responded to that offer, which, to me, means they turned it down. To say Beibut wouldn’t be ready in time to fight Cleverly in two months is quite amusing. Beibut’s been ready to unify since he first won the WBA title. I am terribly disappointed that they would make false statements like that.”
Shumenov (12-1, 8 KOs), a 2004 Kazakhstan Olympian, set a light heavyweight record for capturing a world title in the fewest career fights, 10, when (Jan. 29, 2010) he won a 12-round decision against Gabriel Campillo in Las Vegas. In three successful world title defenses, Shumenov won a unanimous 12-round decision versus No. 1 mandatory challenger and previously undefeated Viacheslav Uzelkov (UDEC12), followed by a six-round knockout of three-time world champion William Joppy (KO6), and then his victory last July by ninth-round TKO versus three-time world title challenger Danny Santiago.
In only 13 pro fights, Beibut has defeated four world champions (Campillo, Joppy, Byron Mitchell and Montell Griffin), as well as three world title challengers (Uzelkov, Santiago and Epifanio Mendoza

I'm sure we can both agree that Campillo is not on the same level as Cleverly. He was beaten years ago by a guy Cleverly beat like a hillbilly on his wife.
Cleverly has a great chin, ok power, but greatwork rate and skill. When a great boxer meets a great puncher- the boxer usually wins. And Cleverly is better than him imo. I hope this fight happens though!
Kovalev is a good boxer and very technically sound himself, with a decent amateur background as well. Like Dan said..... A lot of people see a guy with KOs and heavy hands and assume he's a face first brawler with no skills. Kovalev is the same with GGG in this regard.... Both are very good boxers who just happen to have devastating knock out power. It's all just a big myth. People here think GGG can't box and is a brawler, but the fact of the matter is you don't have over 350 amateur wins without being a good boxer first, period.
That's what makes Kovalev so scary. Don't let the power fool you.
IMO.
Why? Cleverly gets unfair stick around here. He has been turned down by Hopkins, Shumenov and Froch (twice) already.
Hopkins wants this fight in the U.K & Cleverly was steered away from Shumenov and instead opted to fight Tommy Karpency as for Froch he clearly had bigger fish to fry.
If you mean Murat I actually had Campillo winning both of those fights. Hes had a lot of hard decisions go against him.
Kovalev is very good technically himself. I think his power makes a lot underlook his skillset. Hes very solid technically.
Its a good fight and I'd love to see it but Cleverly is way too protected for my liking & don't get me wrong I wouldn't blame him team for steering him away as its a high risk-low reward fight. B-Hop in the U.K makes far more sense to me.

Kovalev has the power to hurt anybody. Hes very heavy handed.
I'm not sure why people seem to think workrate is the key to winning every fight. The more you open up the more openings you leave.
Campillo also has a very high workrate, Kovalev destroyed him and never let him get into the fight.

Cleverley wins.
You can't outpoint him, he throws 90 accurate punches around, and you can't hurt him.
Clev to unify.

Warren would never put Cleverly in with KOvalev.
Hearn mentioned it in an interview, I assumed he was mistaken. It would be a real 'wtf' moment if he signed Cleverly up to fight Kovalev.
Can't believe the near unanimous pick of Kovalev. Don't get me wrong, he's awesome, but we haven't seen enough to make him the favourite over Cleverly. Kovalev has a great all-round technical game, surgical mind-frame and knockout power, but we really don't know what he'll be like against better competition. Beating Campillo put him on the map, but it doesn't make him the next big star.
I'm going to put it out there that Nathan Cleverly is an extremely tough fight for anyone at 175 - very fast hands, very high work-rate, excellent chin, good combination puncher and an aggressive mindset. Against a fighter like Kovalev, maybe his aggressive mindset and occasional disregard for defence will count against him, but it's a basic fact of boxing that it's hard to win a decision against a fighter that throws close to 100 punches a round. It wears a fighter down having to defend and try to match a fighter with that kind of output. Even if Kovalev can land the cleaner, more eye-catching punches, the judges will often go for the guy who lands more, even if his shots don't mean as much.
I think Kovalev would need a knockout to beat Cleverly and while Kovalev has excellent power, Cleverly has shown an excellent chin as well. Could happen, but far from a certainty and with the likelihood that Cleverly would win a decision (as far as I'm concerned), I'd have to make Cleverly the favourite.
Kovalev is vastly superior to Cleverly in every way. He can box, has great defense and one punch KO power. Not to mention he's a world class fighter.
Kovalev by KO early to mid rounds. Once Cleverly feels the power he'll get on his bike and try to survive.
Kovalev early stoppage based on not a lot but Kovalev being quite similar to Bellew only a hell of a lot better in every area and vastly more experienced and heavy handed.
Cleverly can not stick to a gameplan, hes far too willing to take shots and if Bellew was able to do that to him I find it near impossible to see Kovalev not crushing him.
