There are things that consistently work though, you can't say nothing ever works on Mayweather. Whether a fighter has the ability to make it work is one argument, but the way to beat him is there.
Again their are things that can help you win Rounds against Mayweather but he never been defeated so NOBODY can say they have the gameplan to defeat Floyd in a 12 Round Fight
Sure we know the Jab can work but nobody has defeated Mayweather with a "JAB" and people always leave out the fact that everybody who had a effective Jab, Mayweather eventually find a way around it and/or found a way to make you put away that Jab, with Oscar it was Mayweather Jab to the Body that made Oscar put away his Jab
Do fans ever admit when they don't know something or does everybody just pretend like they know everything to impress others on this forum.
Nobody knows how to defeat Mayweather, at best it is a strategy to win rounds against him but to beat him in a 12 Round Fight? GOOD LUCK! The man is too cerebral while the rest of boxing is all PHYSICAL, they are thinking Knockouts and Hurting their opponents while Mayweather the #1 Plan is always to...WIN!
So it is up to Canelo to do his homework and try to find and create his OWN GAMEPLAN, don't use Oscar's, don't use Jose Luis Castillo's, do your homework with your team and come up with your own
His problem like many fighters problems is to find a Sparring Partner to prepare for Mayweather, that is extremely hard to find, while Mayweather on the other hand he was probably Preparing for Canelo during his previous Camp against guys like Daquan Arnatt who has sparred and worked out with Canelo before and is just about the same size as Canelo but is much faster so Mayweather already have guys in his Camp that will help him prepare for Canelo, that is already a big advantage

He is not stationary. He moves his upper body, that's what he showed me Vs Trout. He negated Trout's entire offense through solid defense and some offense, and it worked out (albeit a close split decision which I agreed with. I thought he had an easy time with Trout).
Now he is facing a 5'7 guy who at age 36 is not looking to do much work offensive, rather just wants to sit back and anticipate and counter off of what his opponent is doing. I say, don't fall into Floyd's trap and be a contrarian. He has the skills to pull it off and make Floyd come to him (and win one part of the scoring criteria which is Ring Generalship).
See I don't think he did, his defense was improved but Trout landed a lot of punches it's just that Canelo landed his with more power and won the fight. He won't land those (counter)-punches on Mayweather who unlike Trout is the most difficult fighter in the sport to hit. Imo Canelo has to impose himself, go in there and attack while he's still fresh and mobile and Floyd can't get away from him so easily.
I disagree. I think that Alvarez has the skills to give Floyd problems for 12 rounds, particularly if he comes in with a defensive mentality. Floyd always looks good when he is the one waiting and responding off what the other guy is doing.
He should use similar tactics as he did with Trout; Try the middle ring, bend his knees and move his head Poor-man-Whitaker-style. Apply some pressure in the last 30 seconds to close the round if the round has been a "QUIET ROUND" where not much happened.
I'll agree that he has the skills to give Floyd some trouble but I don't think he is skilled enough to beat Floyd at the pace he fought Trout. If he fights at that pace he will throw roughly the same amount of punches as Floyd each round but I doubt he will be able to land as high of a percentage as Floyd will. I think he has to up his work rate in order to overcome Floyd's defensive edge.
If Canelo can out punch Floyd his skills will allow him to win rounds, if he fights at Floyd's pace he will drop rounds.
game plan?

my newphew gonna whip that motherf#cker azz. that's the game plan.
Go visit LaMotta in Miami and get some "inspiration"!!!
I'd have him work hand speed and finish to the body. I'd have him move away from Floyd after getting off! I would not pressure him all out in the beginning of the fight. I would wait to see if Floyd steps up away from the ropes if Canelo doesn't pressure hard.
The kid could get in deep if he tries to punch with him right away but eventually he's going to have to try that!
I don't see what the fans are seeing talking about a size advantage, Floyd is a half an inch taller and has reach on him. The kid will have some weight but that could work against if he's to heavy and his mobility is lacking.
I think Floyd has the upper hand in this one because the kid is very young and although I think he has alot of promise he maybe outgunned!
Either way by the 4th round he'll need to step it up and go get Floyd unless he's doing well boxing along with him. This kid has some flexability but what he did against Trout doesn't mean diddle against Floyd!
I hope this kid doesn't walk with Floyd to a BS decision loss! I hope he takes advantage of his opportunity and respect Floyd just enough to want to win!
Like LaMotta used to do, "be the Boss" after 4!!! Ray.

He's a stationary, gassy counter-puncher so I don't see him taking Floyd over 12. Imo he has to convert his power early in the bout or it's going to get rough for him in the late rounds. He can do it but he has to hurt his opponent.
Canelo doesn't want to let it go 12 anyway because he won't be getting the decision.
Get on him early and try to hurt and stop him like Mosley did. The longer he waits the harder it's going to be for him. With Alvarez power one punch can change this bout.
Force him backwards with the jab and throw hard to the body when Mayweather's near the ropes. That's not how Alvarez fights, but if he wants to win he better learn how.
