Why isnt Showtime releasing Mayweather-Guerrero ppv buys numbers?
Eh, they did ages ago. They said it did over 1 million. People just called them liars and believed the BS Dan and Iole spouted. Where as before if Dan and Iole released numbers everyone would demand an official statement from Showtime. Pack hypocrites.
people are ignoring the biggest boost to floyd mayweather's ppv numbers in the last few years.
manny pacquiao.
after manny was knocked out that fight lost it's lustre.
both of their numbers will take a huge hit because of it.
mayweather's got alvarez now. lets see what his numbers look like this time.
You may be right. I wondered how much they spent promoting the Guerrero fight. Must be huge.
By now they should be announcing upcoming fights in advance IF they truly made money in the Mayweather fight, like Matthysse vs Garcia, for example, considering Lucas virtually came out unscathed in his fight with Peterson. He could actually fight the next day.
They couldn't afford to promote the Guerrero fight, they gave all their money to Mayweather to gamble on the bounceyball games.
I think the answer will be in what Floyd Mayweather decides to do next.
If the fight really sold well under a million buys, he should definitely be opting to head back to HBO.
floyd mayweather single-handily destroyed showtime. that is impressive in its own right. such power.

It did like 750-850K buys....otherwise Schaefer would have announced the numbers within 2 weeks because he said that's just how it works in the business.
It didn't bomb. If it did the 800+ or so many are saying on the sly, that's still a MONSTER number. It's all relative to expectations and cost.
How about this:

The large Mayweather guarantee and significant promotional budget resulted in a loss of as much as $12 million for Showtime for the fight, according to one source.
If it's even in the neighborhood, that's a ridiculous hit. Imagine 2 of those a year, that's just about their annual boxing budget
They did release them, said it did over a million. But then again i dont have an agenda against certain fighters so the numbers really dont matter to me. I watched the fight and enjoyed it, i remember when that used to be all boxing fans cared about
It bombed so we've got the Canelo fight instead of Alexander.
Good luck to Showtime, it's become clear that HBO lads (Kellerman and Lampley) think they're hot sh*t.
I would have welcomed that fight. It would have honestly been amusing seeing the fanboys spin this into some type of revolutionary fight and talk about how much of a threat Devon is :lol1:
This fight bombed big-time
The higher ups at CBS/SHO don't want the public to know because their stock would nosedive and they would be a laughing stock

They have to count all the buys by hand. Right now they are doing a recount in Florida. Just be patient people.
And they have to make sure all the postal buys are in
