So I go on this forum today and read the comments about Froch vs Kessler II and 90 % of the people here are saying it was a "Fight of the Year" candidate and it was awesome and this and that. And I hadn't watched the fight yet, so I finally watch it and I saw a good, technical fight. Not more and not less. If this was a "Fight of the Year" then you've got to be kidding me.
I notice this so many times that people come up with statements like that after a fight for whatever reason. And I don't want to disrespect Froch or Kessler because those 2 guys are high level boxers and real warriors.
And the fight also was an excellent technical matchup in my opinion. But "Fight of the Year" type of stuff? NOT IN A MILLION YEARS.
Basically it was a "normal" (meaning "good") fight like every other fight from the super six tournament. Maybe some guys watch the fight on a certain feed or the "UUhs and AAhhhs" of the crowd get them so excited that the beer glass in their hands drops to the floor everytime the crowd goes crazy (for nothing).
Gatti-Ward
Castillo-Corrales
Berto-Victor Ortiz
That is FOTY stuff.
You have 2000+ posts but still haven't learned the fighters' names?
The man talks real boxing, hes just not a biased nuthugger. He might not follow these fighters in particular, but got the most technical knowledge and experience training fighters than 98.4% of the users on this board.
You should read his technical breakdown posts sometimes..
I'm surprised everyone saying it was better than Berto-Ortiz.
I would take a fight with an amazing first half and a normal second half over a fight that just has its moments throughout.
They're competitive and match up with each other to make a good fight but........................both of these guys are "ordinary" at best!! They skill levels are not good, they're both awkward and theres nothing that flows (footwork, combinations, defense) because a fight has some excitement in it doesn't make "great"! Its hard for me to realize that those two fellows are in the top twenty let alone top five!!! The guy in the black (Foch) had the WORST jab I've EVER seen!!! The other guy (blue trunks) refused to put his ballz down and make the extra effort to win!! He had the better technique but not the will to win!
Don't mean to down grade these youngmen at all but anyone who thinks these guys are talented must be under 30 years old and they simply haven't seen high caliber fights other than Mayweather & Hopkins and those guys RUN! Ray.

I just saw two unskilled euro bums fighting each other. Nothing special or fight of the year about it at all. Damn, boxing has regressed so much when people consider these bums good fighters.

Still talking about floyd. Your obsessed!
Green and taylor say the chins arent so iron. But if you thought this sloppy fight, good at moments, mainly late in fight, was FOTY then to each his own.
So they been put down once each in their careers and thats it, I would say they have iron chins.
Berto Ortiz was not a great full fight tbh,and not to mention laying on the ropes does not equate to a great fight..Which Berto did for the most of the 2end half of the fight..
IMO Rios Acosta was fight of the yr that yr,Or at least should have been..Hell even Hernan Marquez - Luis Concepcion should have won over Ortiz Berto as well..
Agreed, but idiots just loved the knockdowns in that fight. The other two fights were better.
It was a great fight, far superior in excitement than the Floyd fight. I think that people who are used to defending Floyd will downgrade the fight. Floyd lands a handful of isolated lead rights with mediocre pop and then they proclaim him the greatest. He runs and evades masterfully though.
These fighters trade bombs and take them and don't run. Iron chin, will and great conditioning on display. I used to not think a whole lot of Froch but I see what makes him good. He is superbly conditioned. He works, even if it is not pretty and he has a great chin. That is the type of fight that keeps me interested and on the edge of my seat.
dude this aint some cherry pick fighter like floyd does so u see pops every time floyd lands a jab on his weak arse chineed cherry's
this two fighters got iron chinss
which if one of this guys lands a jab on ur dumb face could get u killed

Have to agree. Good fight, but no more than that. Was surprised to see how highly people were rating it but each to their own. I think the atmosphere might have had a lot to do with it.
right when other fighters jab its boring
but when its floyd its a masterpeice
gtfo and keep socking floyds d!k
This was a tired lazy jab with no pop and none of them fighting or dodging. It was boring. Not even close to the same but thank you for mentioning floyd. You justcant seem to stop thinking about him.
At end of round6 i remember thinking "this is exciting". Last 15 sec of round 7 after a boring jab fest where ward says Froch and Kessler took round off they started banging. Lampley screams "what a fight" and i thought NSB now gonna say this fight of the year and here we are. Last rounds were good in spurts but very very sloppy and in no way FOTY.
Froch-Kessler 2 was much better than Ortiz-Berto.
Like you said, the second half of the fight was dull and one sided with Berto laying against the ropes for almost the entirety and holding.
Aren't you KNOWN here to be a Mayweather and Froch "Superfan"?
I bet everytime Froch throws a punch you fall from the stool from all the excitement.
People remember it as being way better than it actually was. Just because Emmanuel Steward ehrmagawded doesn't mean the entire fight was great. The second half of the fight was really boring and one-sided.
