Considering that Victor Ortiz was fined 100K for saying he tried to break Floyd's nose by headbutting him, I think we probably all agree that Froch should be fined for saying he "wants to kill" Mikkel Kessler this weekend. Of all the many controversial things that Floyd Mayweather has said that have caused criticism and personal attacks, none of them were even remotely close to being as bad as this. It's one thing to throw juvenile insults at your opponents or to suggest a guy is using PED's, it's another entirely to say "I have to kill him, I want to kill him and I will kill him".
I understand tensions run high in the build-up to big fights but that is not an excuse for this kind of behavior. Was he totally unaware that lots of people are watching, lots of people look up to him and plenty of them are young and will be influenced by what they hear and see? I sure hope so, because if he thinks its okay so say things like that when the world is watching then that's even worse. Anyway, all things considered, how much do you guys think that he should be fined for this embarrassment?
I don't know how much his purse is for this fight, but I would guess it's about a million. With that in mind, I think he should be fined at least 250K. An example needs to be set & a line needs to be drawn. It's unacceptable.
Poll Coming.
Froch and Kessler are good friends. You know that, right?
Its all hype. Get over it.
this. kessler isn't offended, why should anyone else be? should we totally outlaw the word "kill" from the english language? should it be bleeped out like **** or **** or cunt or protein stain?
It just sets a bad example for all the young people watching and it annoys me how when Floyd does anything remotely questionable, the media and all his critics go wild, but when someone says or does something far more serious (like this, or Margarito loading his gloves) certain people (like many of you in this thread) give them a pass and they only get a little slap on the wrist.
Either come at me with an intelligent point or don't bother posting in my threads. Explain why he shouldn't be fined if that's what you believe.
Why not? Ortiz was fined 100K for saying he tried to break Floyd's nose. Is that worse than declaring you want to kill someone? Absolutely not.
what benefit do you get out of him being fined? why should he be fined...did his words bring a drop of tear to your eye?
ortiz was probably fined for admitting that he intentionally used an illegal tactic.
maybe if he said something like "i am going to bring a knife to the ring and stab his throat until he dies". overall, this isnt any different to me than when a fighter says they will die in the ring before quitting. should they be fined for contemplating suicide? attempted suicide is a crime you know..
He shouldn't be fined, what do people expect him to say? I'm going to enter the ring and pat him on the head? The statements are somewhat crude, but the audience paying to see a match with the hopes of it being a brutal slugfest where one man gets knocked into next sunday are hardly in a position to complain.
no...we dont all agree and i stopped reading your post when you said that we DO all agree.

zero point zero.
