Alexander is a young fight in or reaching his prime, holds a title at 147 is more accomplished than all the other possibles Like Garcia, mattyssee, and canelo....also he is more skilled and has more tools to defeat Mayweather.....mattysse like all big punchers is grossly overrated and would get outboard and only has a punches chance.....I saw the fights Judah beat him:bottle: fair and square. Wasn't pretty but the job got done. canelo has wouldn't he has one win over a ranked guy at his weight. Garcia has good fundamentals and heart good counter skills would actually punch with Mayweather to land a shot which is how you Ko a figter with good defense. Alexander is a southpaw has a very good trainer has heart improved good speed decent power and punch variety. titles at two weights beat better Como than the rest.id he isn't next that's cool. Of he keeps winning he should get a shot
Snooze fest, which reminds me I watching GGN nemo hoes starting snoop dogg and he made a joke about Floyd that I thought was pretty funny. He said Floyd has found the cure for insomnia..... It's boxing.
Man you suck as a poster
Welp, if he doesn't want to move up, then yeah, Alexander is probably the best opponent. It's still a horrible, predictable fight though.
In a perfect world he should fight them all. Or the winners of all the matchups.
But the problem is people dismiss every top contender and give Floyd fantasy wins. It's been some of the recurring themes of his career. And clearly its not just his fans that do this.
We don't know what style will give him issues because all of his recent opponents have tried the same thing, just like he said on All Access.
Floyd would be a heavy favorite against any other of the names in the hat too.
Garcia, Khan, Matthysse, Peterson, Ortiz, Maidana, Lopez, Bradley, Berto, Brook, Rios, Provodnikov, Alvarado, Thurman, Malignaggi, Marquez.
So I don't really buy that.

Glad you agree, anyone with a pair of eyeballs in excellent condition watching the fight will agree with it. Glad to see you removed those **** goggles you wear 24/7.
I don't know, I think Floyd Mayweather destroy Alexander and everyone else easy, it's still a different style than what is seen. You need to realize the fact that Floyd can't be beaten.
If Floyd sold bottled farts you would buy them....oh wait, he does.
I'd prefer Lara over Devon but just don't think its realistic so I don't bring it up.
I know Devon is more realistic because his name has already been mentioned by Floyd but like I said and many others said.... We need more convincing!
A fight with Devon Alexander is almost as pointless as a fight with Guerrero. There's just no sexiness in the match up. I mean say it out loud ''Mayweather v Alexander'', whilst thinking of the individual involved. We know that Floyd would beat the breaks off of Alexander, he lacks the tools to get the job done, and he lacks the mental strength needed to compete over 12 rounds. He'd give up by the sixth round.
Regarding Alexander and Mattysse. Styles make fights/things interesting. I thought Alexander v Matthysse was a close fight that people say but I'd rather see the later fight Floyd. I think Floyd would make Matthysse look like a fool, but his power would make things interesting on paper.
Wow what a joke, Guerrero and now Alexander are legit fights? Is it that impressive to beat fringe contenders after losing 3 str8 fights?
Thurman has done more then Alexander and has looked better too
at 147 (floyds division) yes they arelegit fights what do u want him to do? unless he moves up these are ranked opponents in his weight class
I watch that Matthyse-Alexander fight over today and to be honest I thought Matthyse won the first time I seen it but this second viewing, I believe Alexander got enough rounds to pull out the win at least a point.
Of course you did!:lol1:
This thread is pretty funny. A few months ago everyone laughed their heads off at the mention of this possible sham, even the floms winced at the thought, preceding to accuse people of hating floyd because he would never make a fight like that(whilst attempting to justify an almost as big turkey, in the RG fight). And now just look at them!
I said this would happen, but apparently I was 'juz hatin'.:nonono:
If Manny comes back and wins, I see a better chance of it happening in the future.
Floyd can take on a 154lbs fighter. If you think Alexander presents a style that is different than what Floyd has been with then how about Lara if he beats Angulo?
I'd prefer Lara over Devon but just don't think its realistic so I don't bring it up.
That would help. But if Floyd wants to stay at 147. Who is in line? Pacquiao and Bradley would be great fights but the business of boxing won't let us see that.
And I don't agree with fattening up a JWW who's never been at the weight, especially on short notice.
Of course I would like Canelo in September. If not, then let Floyd fight Alexander, Garcia fight Matthysse, Canelo fight a ranked contender and he can fight the winners of those other fights next year.
Or take the Canelo fight now and fight Khan/Alexander and Garcia/Matthysse next year.
Any of those options are legit, IMO.

EDIT: Missed this line ....
"And I don't agree with fattening up a JWW who's never been at the weight, especially on short notice."
Well the above is Floyd's staple of late ... get a guy with few or no fights at WW. So I agree .... not good! I always criticized that move especially when there were good quality WWs!
There are a few things that I like about Devon but I always find that he is missing something in each of his fights.
Last fight, OK, he hurt his hand. Against Bailey, he did just enough to win the rounds but not much more to impress anyone.
Before one can put Alexander in there with Floyd he needs to fight a few more good quality fights. He can rematch Bradley for one. If he can't handle Bradley again then there is no use in feeding him to Floyd.

I wanted Pacquiao instead of Ortiz and I wanted Alexander or Bradley instead of Guerrero.

Devon's only step up to the elite (Bradley), was a massive failure, he lost, he quit, and he put up a boring, forgettable fight.
He's put up some very nice performances since, but outside of Lucas (who I think beat him anyways), the guys were tailor made, and B fighters for Alexander.
Plus, everything Devon does, Floyd does better. I think it would be a boring, one sided beatdown for Money, definitely not interesting.

I agree that Alexander deserves to fight Floyd because he is a welterweight champion on a good win streak. I thought Matthysse clearly beat Judah as do most fans and experts and if you don't think this is true do a poll on who won. That fight was over two and one half years ago and Matthysse has improved very much. I don't think he would need more than a few rounds to KO Judah today.I don't think there is much chance of Floyd fighting Canelo or Matthysse because they are much too dangerous. I think Mayweather will play it safe and fight Khan,Alexander or Garcia in September. If Floyd can't get a fight with one of these three he will fight some other welterweight.
Yeah I'll wait until this one dies down and bring it up later.
Your right though. There are no Roberto Durans out there right now. That's the kind of pressure fighter it would take to REALLY put Floyd in trouble. Hell, these guys aren't even on Castillo's level.
People call Devon "boring" but he presents a style that we haven't seen Floyd face before. Judah is athletically gifted but is above average in every sense of the word from a skill level. But he caused Floyd more trouble than just about anybody in those early rounds because he could match his speed and quickness.
You can't count a fighter out just because you feel he's boring. Like I said, Pernell Whitaker was down on all 3 judges scorecards in the 11th against an unproven Cuban mover/boxer/clincher named Diosbelys Hurtado. His awkward style forced Whitaker to stalk and chase which he wasn't used to doing. He had to dig deep and score a brutal late round TKO (yes feather fisted Whitaker) in order to save his last payday against Oscar De La Hoya.
I'd prefer Canelo in September and Khan/Alexander, next year of course. But if the rumors about the weight are true I would have no problem with the Alexander fight in September.
