Broner knocked out Valero's best win quicker. The guy's not worth mentioning, he never did anything worth being discussed.
He looked far more impressive than Valero as well, I think people need to stop already, Valero was more of a poor man's Pacquiao.
Uh, Margarito knocked out a prime Cotto with bricks in his gloves and Floyd Mayweather won a decision against him 4 years later. Is Margarito better than Mayweather? No.
You omitted the most important bit...filled it in for you.

Valero was pretty untested compared to Matthysse, it would be tough to give him much of a chance, especially considering he'd also be moving up in weight.
If by some stroke of incredible medical science we were able to bring Edwin Valero back to life, Matthysse would just beat him back to death again.
Valero is the most overrated fighter in recent memory. He barely fought anybody with a pulse and then became a legend the moment he decided to Bundy his wife and hang himself.
Valero didn't do **** in boxing, he had an impressive KO percent but the guys he fought were nothing special.
This ^
Off the top of my head the only notable wins he had was Mosquera and DeMarco and neither are all that.
I'm not saying Valero wasn't a good talent and wouldn't of done big things but his resume is paper thin and he was largely untested.
The real question is who hit harder - Valero or Matthyse?
In terms of one punch power Matthysse by some distance IMO
He has knocked out far bigger, more proven world class operators out. He has proven one punch power at world level.
