I'm sure he's qualified, but's it a bit like those 8 or 9 'world champions' that were working with Heredia. When I think about similar situations in other sports, guys flocking to a particular conditioning advisor, there's something suspect about it. Fuentes and especially Michele Ferrari come to mind. Elite athletes have a whole world of conditioning coaches to choose from, the prestige of working with top athletes is great for your career and there are lots of guys who would be just as well qualified on paper as someone like Ariza or Heredia who they could work with. When lots of different athletes seem to be heading towards particular coaches, it either says that those coaches are truly exceptional, or that they're dirty. Ariza's association with Pacquiao did get him a lot of respect in boxing circles I'm sure, and maybe that's all there is to it. I have my doubts though. As for Heredia... He pumps up plyometrics a lot but they're not proven to work much as of now. The studies they've done so far are not favorable from what I've read.

Good move but I don't think his stamina is gonna improve much unless he changes his mentality. Instead of focusing on short explosive bursts, he needs to spread his punches out more evenly throughout a round, while throwing the same amount.

Sources close to the information have informed us that unified jr. middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez is looking to make some changes to his team prior to his expected return to the ring this September. Evidently, Alvarez was not pleased with his conditioning in his last bout, a 12-round unanimous decision victory over previously undefeated Austin Trout. "From what I was told, some of his people reached out to a couple guys; Angel and Alex I heard. I don't think either one is available though because their plates are full, but the kid is looking for help," one source commented. Whether or not Alvarez does indeed hire a new strength and conditioning coach remains to be seen. What is Ariza's resume aside from Roach fighters? What are his other notable achievements in high level sport? Makes me nervous when I see these fighters gravitate towards coaches who don't seem to have the resumes to justify it.
