this is one of the few boxing matches which i rate a perfect 5 stars out of 5.
For both fighters this fight meant everything..for Marquez it was a last chance at redemption...while for Pacquaio defeat meant that his chance of fighting p4p king Floyd Mayweather jr were over.
This fight had everything there was it could be listed as a great technical fight while also as a slugfest(especially round 3 and 4)..and no-one saw the end coming..with Pacquiao knocked out cold.
This fight's will be listed to other great fights such as Holyfeild-Bowe 1,Gatti-Ward 3 and Corrales-Castillo 1.
Q)how much would you rate this fight out of 5?
Q)Do you agree Pacquiao-Marquez IV the best boxing fight in a long time
Good fight, not best in a long time. The fight itself was more what it meant, then it actually being a great match. Like someone else said... it was more of a fight than a boxing match. Just rewatched Mosley-Marg today... because let's be real who doesn't like seeing Marg beaten down...that was a great fight. Castillo-Coralles was a great fight...Ortiz-Berto was a hell of a fight too. There's a lot of great fights that Pac-Marquez IV isn't up there with.
It was a fight with a lot of meaning for both fighters, which made it really interesting at the outcome...but the fight itself wasn't "great".
Only if you don't watch much boxing.
Don't get me wrong, the fight was great because Marquez came back from losing to score a 1 punch ko over 1 of the sports biggest draws. But it wasn't even the best fight that year.
i liked mayweather vs cotto, interesting the whole way through
another quality fight is marquez vs katsidits, the work rate from both guys is unreal.
Mayweather-Cotto was a very good fight, just a pity Cotto wilted after his big effort in the 8th. I always find Katsidis too sloppy to really enjoy his fights. He was a warrior but a bit of a punching bag.
JMM-Pac IV was one of the best we've seen between elite opponents in a while alright.
It was a rollercoaster ride, with a dramatic ending.
one of the greatest fights in recent times.
Absolutely. I mean watching that on TV fight you could feel the intensity coming thru the screen. Both fighters were trying to ****ing kill each other that night. It was insane. Very few boxing fights I've watched have the same feeling as that one were you could feel how eager both fighters were of maiming one another.
Every power shot marquez threw was a KO punch(which is not really usual for marquez) while pac was being his old self, trying to punch thru marquez's face. Classic fight.
I agree it was a hell of a rollercoaster fight. I have not seen as many fights as most but from what I have seen this is one of the best fights ever.
Yes, every round there was action, both fighters press foward and try to take their opponent out. None of that "dancing" around crap hit dodge dance reset.

the cotto fight was horrible, worst boxing outclass ever
I didn't even watch it live , and I downloaded it many days afterwards ! and I didn't feel any surprise for the outcome !
it is a meaningless fight with all the meaning of the word ( meaningless ) , and the 3rd fight was the same !
I think Pacquiao is stupid enough to waste the end of his career in meaningless fights with a fighter with whom he had a draw and a SD , and both were fair and square , and I scored them the same , and he KD Marquez in every single fight ! so why the 3rd , 4th , 5th , ..... all these meaningless fights ! he seeks what ?! to K.O marquez ? no one can K.O marquez , and with his style he is gonna argue he wins even with all those KDs !
the more he fights him meaningless fights , the more possibility he will get hurt and the more money Marquez is gonna milk from Pacquiao name !
Keep fighting him 5th , 6th , 7th , .... and even the mexicans and Mayweather fans who were dreaming about K.O will get bored soon .
Pacquiao is stupid , and Marquez is just enjoying this stupidity !
One of the best, both guys wanted a KO and they both fought trying to get a KO. Pacquiao had the momentum, then BOOM - night, night.
One hell of an intense fight.

Well because some boxing experts here think running backwards, fighting defensively, wait for his opponent to punch first is boxing. Other than that is not boxing. Floydiot.
What will happen to the fight if both fighters in the ring is waiting for one another who will punch first? And.how about if both somehow punch at the same time and run to opposite direction defensively running backwards to avoid their punches? Then rinse and repeat over and over. Do you think someone will still watch boxing? Because the boxing you know is bullshet.
That is boxing, Marquez style is all wrong for Pac I'm surprised Pac has done so well against Marquez. That KO was wonderfully shocking.
For shock value yes of course and Pacquiao was looking like he was taking control, i wish the k.o would have come in the 12th just to get to see more .
Classic one of the greatest of all time, its what boxing is about, having heart n goin in that ring to see whos the better skilled boxer, not like some boxers who go in there to outpoint there opponent by taking advantage of the boxing system of 12rds
Great speed n fast combos of Manny Pacquiao, Marquez good counter punching n set up traps on Manny its what every boxing fan wants n real boxing fans see the greatness n even people who dont follow boxing much will remember that night, thats how u kno its great even people who dont follow know about that ko n support these type of boxing matches
