With there being alot of talk about weight with the Floyd Canelo issue, there seems to be a common misconception out there.
You do not have to put on any weight when you go up to a higher weight division if you don't want to. In professional boxing you only have to weigh in UNDER the weight limit.
So in a 154 lb fight you can weigh in at 154 or any weight under 154lbs, you can weigh 90lbs if you want.
People saying Floyd loses speed at 154 don't seem to u deer stand this point, if that was the case he would just weigh in at 147 or whatever he wanted.

You dont know what you're talking about. Every commission in the US has rules about how much a weight difference between the fighters is allowable at the weigh-in. For example, here in Florida, there cannot be a difference of more than 12 pounds between the fighters, with the exception of the cruiserweight and heavyweight divisions.
They have weight classes for a reason but people want to flip them to try and further justify this fight happening. Why do you think a lot of fighters these days force themselves to be in a weight class they probably shouldn't be in? Why do you think Canelo isn't at 160 where he probably belongs? Canelo is bigger then Sergio if no one realized. It is a very simple answer... Size and power advantages. Donaire was getting away with it at 122 for quite some time and now all of a sudden when he lose he makes an excuse about him having trouble making weight... Its funny because if you look at Martinez,Manny and Floyd they are fighting in their natural weight classes without massively jumping up in weight the day of their fights.
Dumbest @#$% I ever read. 147 vs 175 and thats fair? Why not fight Ward, he would love to fight Canelo. This is the most bias thing I have seen in quite some time. Give up 25 pounds and fight. You people must work for Arum. Since when is it cool to weigh 154 on Friday and 170 plus on Sat?
Exactly, these morons complain about Canelo weighing 5 pounds more than you look at the heavyweight and see legends like Haye facing people 50 pounds bigger. Just shows why heavyweight should always be the most respected weight division, the rest are *******.
Right.....
Floyd fans don't know **** about boxing. When Manny was below 147 VS Marg, Floyd fans were crying why is he under. SMH.
Margarita was a slow, shot fighter. Thats completely different brozo.

Floyd looked razor fast against Cotto. But anyone who ever talked about his speed, is dumb. Floyd coming in under 54, is the problem. He would be too small to really deal with Canelo, and at any given moment, Canelo would have that option to just walk through the punches, and crush Floyd's chestplate. Against Cotto, they started wresltling and Floyd started sliding backward on his feet. Cotto bulldozed through, and we have to remember, Cotto is shot. We have weight classes for a reason, and Floyd weighing in at 152, then coming in at 147 by accident, will be a problem against Canelo who will be 170 on fight night. I dont think its a duck move if Floyd were to say no to this fight. But he needs to fight Pakymonster.

5 pounds? More like 20 pounds.

5 pounds? Seriously?
If the extra pounds is a disadvantage why not.
And yes it's perfectly fair. Canelo being bigger is the whole point of the fight. If they were the same size he'd have no chance and it would be a pointless fight.
Was it fair when Haye fought Wlad ? Or should Wlad have got down to 215?

HW division has always been like that so there is not even any use to bring it up. Still, even experts and trainers of the HW's like Manny Steward have said that boxing needs to add another division called Super HW's because the size advantage is too big.
As for your original topic,, I dont hear hardly anyone talking about Floyd's speed or whatever. Its just about the weight. He's not going to get over 151 pounds. Thats the problem
so come in at 147 and get outweighed by 25 pounds? Thats better and fair to you?

No it was the point he tried to CW Cotto when Cotto was at 154...
