I see so many people here with different opinions on this issue. Alot of haters though seem to forget that Pac just got BRUTALLY KNOCKED OUT and that both Marquez and Bradley denied the rematches.
Call it a confidence booster or whatever, but for someone who lost his last couple of fights and BRUTALLY KNOCKED OUT on his last fight, I don't see why someone can hate on a Pac vs. Rios fight.
So I want to know who here thinks this is a good comeback fight for Pac.
So by your logic if they both KO artists then we should pay for those fights no matter what record is or whether they just won or lost?
If fans are willing to pay for the fight on PPV then yes it should be on PPV. No matter what you think of the match up, and any criticism of Pac vs Rios would be valid, the fact is that both guys are entertaining fighters and will put on a good show.
UFC has shown that fight fans don't care so much about win/loss records as much as getting the match ups that will produce fireworks.
Considering Pac's recent history then yes it is a good idea to fight a guy that he clearly has more boxing skill then. Rios can bang, but can't box for ****.
It is an intriguing match up to see if Pac has anything left against a guy that even at 147 will have some power to test Pac.
PPV events are about entertainment and this fight will be very entertaining, so much so that fight fans will be willing to pay for the fight so yes it deserves to be on PPV.
expectation is low for Manny but ask these same fuckers and Floyd should move up and look for competition in higher weight classes Martinez should fight GGG or Ward, and Danny Garcia should fight Matthysse
yes it is...rios fight will show us just how much pac has left in him after that devastating KO loss. even though rios' style is tailor made for pac we don't know if we'll be seeing the same old pac who could take a punch and deliver 5 back.

Replied to thread first, but as for why people hate on it.... it's a PPV showdown, between Manny lost last 2....Rios lost last one. That's why it gets most of it's hate tbh. Like I said Rios "should" be greatly overmatched and easily dispatched.
It is a good comeback fight. I've said it before, it does nothing for him but make sure he's still able to fight. Manny should decimate Rios with ease, anything less and there'll be talk of a need to retire by many.
I was opposed to Rios as a comeback fight because experience tells me after a knockout loss you start easy, and don't jump into a fight with a dangerous opponent. Remember Roy Jones Jr. returning from the knockout loss to Tarver jumping in with Glen Johnson? It was a fight he could of and would of won normally had he not have been coming off a knockout loss. It was a mistake he could not take back.
You do if you want to watch boxing on this night. Which i will but like i always say i buy all PPV whether i agree or not
That is your choice though, and obviously you enjoy boxing enough to pay the cost.
I would always rather be watching boxing also but that is my issue and I would expect people running the sport to be taking advantage of people like me.
Not something I would complain about~ it is just how it is
It is an acceptable come back fight, it is good in a sense I think he is made for Manny at the very least to look good offensively against so he is good to get him back on track.
I certainly don't see much reason to complain about it and if it is on PPV you don't have to pay for it. I am sure it will be on HBO PPV thus will be on a week later if something interesting happens. You do if you want to watch boxing on this night. Because it will be a brutal action fight with somebody getting put to sleep.
Just like ward-gatti, vasquez-marquez, holyfield bowe, and pretty much every mayorga ppv fight (tito, oscar, vargas, mosely, cotto) So by your logic if they both KO artists then we should pay for those fights no matter what record is or whether they just won or lost?

The only problem is its PPV. How is 2 guys coming off losses worth 60+ dollars ?

I think it's a good fight. I don't see how anyone would say it isn't. Not many fighters jump out of the frying pan and into the fire.
Indeed. The one thing I'm really looking forward about this fight is to see if Manny's chin will hold up. Manny won't be able to dodge all of Rios' punches for the entire 12 rounds.
What would be funny though is if Manny's chin does hold up but he ends up getting KO'd by a bodypunch :D
Definitely is a good comeback fight for Pacquiao. That's all it is though, a confidence booster for him; a fight to help rebuild his image and bring the pactards back on the wagon. Rios isn't there to cause him problems, he is there to be KO'd.
If Manny wants to continue to be successful, these are types of opponents he'll need and which he has mostly faced throughout his career. Any type of elite level, technical boxer, will give him grief.
spoken like a true hater.. pacquiao probably has the best resume in the business right now besides bernard hopkins. pacquiao's level of opposition is greater than mayweather's that's for sure.
anyway, most people take easy fights against no names when they come back from a loss and even lower no name fights when they come back from knock out losses. although brandon is tailor made for pacquiao, he is a tough fighter and is gonna give it his all.
Usually a fighter coming off of KO or dominating loss would take a soft feather fisted opponent. Although Rios style fits right Into pacs strengths, he's far from a soft touch or non dangerous opponent. Rios will come out guns blazing like he always does.
