As disappointed as I was in how Donaire fought, he still fought well enough to beat anyone else in the division. The skill level in the ring was insane, and Rigo's was just that much higher.
I was completely on the edge of my seat for all 12 rounds. Great stuff.
Same here. I was amazed when some people were saying the fight was boring, and that Rigondeaux 'just did enough'. How could they not see it? It was gripping stuff from start to finish, and like you say the level of skill was just ridiculous.
The best fighters don't have styles, they do what they have to do to win.
That's why Aaron Pryor is my favorite fighter of all time.
Even Robert Garcia knew what Donaire had to do- just listen to all his fight advice. Donaire didn't listen, he kept throwing one punch at a time and didn't press the action, waiting for Rigo to make a mistake, and he deservably lost.
all he had to do? lol no way he would beat rigo even if he listened
I'm so ****ing disappointed in Donaire.
He fought that whole fight wrong, he should have stopped backing off and kept applying constant pressure on Rigo. He's the bigger and stronger fighter with more power.. Instead he let Rigo constantly reset.
He's not a pressure fighter. It's just not who he is.
This fight was exciting to watch because it was a high level game of chess, one wrong move from either guy and the fight could change on a dime. That's the difference between this fight and Mayweather/Guerrero, this fight never stopped being exciting. Mayweather/Guerrero was a great performance but all the air came out of the balloon after the 3-4th round.
EXACTLY how I feel. There was never a moment where I was lulled into boredom.

theres a compilation video of whenever harold lederman try to explain his scorecards, one boxer is getting KD and it happened again in donaire vs rigo.
weird *****
I noticed that :lol1:
old sparring footage....................1st sparring partner gets outclassed & the 2nd sparring partner @ 10:50 got a even worse boxing lesson. 2nd sparring partner looked like a natural 140 pounder.............

Talk about chasing perfection 2 world class fighters in the same ring one stunned by the other's mastery of the craft gets hes offense muted and dominated we should cherish this boxing class Rigo gave Donaire because honestly we rarely get to see the two best around face each other in this sport, both stepped up so props to them. Even tho i do believe Donaire just like many casual fans didn't know what he was getting himself in to if he did maybe he wouldnt have taken the fight but he did so respect.
