when pacquiao wasn't fooling around on the ropes / working on stuff / taking punches on purpose he used to body his sparring partners.
there's tons of footage of pacquaio sparring. the wildcard has / has had in the past a very open policy for a world class boxing gym.
if these two sparred when manny was in his prime you should expect him to beat the garbage out of alvarado. alvarado's hands would be slow enough with 14/16 oz gloves on to make manny a really tough go in sparring when he was in his prime. his hands were like lightning, he could throw for 3 minutes each round, and he had the best legs in boxing.
it's not like alvarado is some slick boxer. he's a worker. they probably had a standard manny sparring session. he languishses on the ropes for a bit, alvarado tees off on him, and then manny comes back with clean punches in combination and lets him know who the ATG is.
vintage manny at the wildcard. crew of pinoys in the background. it takes me back, that's for sure.
People need to remember sparring is sparring. I think Pac tunes em up in or out of sparring but its when your under the bright lights and the pressure is on that it counts. Manny has shown this is when he performes...........except last time!
these sparring stories are getting out of hand.......
:lol1: but they ALWAYS have some truth...maybe a twisted truth but they're still worth listening to
it wouldn't suprise me a bit if Manny gave Alvarado that work in sparring....he'd give him that work in a real fight as well....I mean lets be real, Alvarado is NOT on Manny's level
This is a bad fight.... nobody here should dispute that.
This is all a marketing ploy though.
This has exciting fight written all over it.
Arum trying to break into chinese boxing market, has Zou on the undercard.
Arum planning on making so much money from this.
Pac gets his win and Arum gets his money.
Casuals get their manny back and we get to argue about the State of Manny
yeah good point...... scum bag Arum
How so? Pac is coming off a terrible KO loss. And IMO Rios beats Guerrero at welter anyway. Guerrero had all kinds of issues with Aydin, who's 2 divisions smaller, less durable, much less active, and possibly even less skilled, outclassed by Karass and Jojo Dan.
Read my very first line again and that was Guerrero's first visit to WW after jumping up 2 divisions. He scored an impressive victory over a decent fighter in Berto before the Mayweather fight. Rios is yet to even fight at 47.
Assuming MP is still himself, he would easily KO Alvarado even in sparring. I was critical of Floyd fighting Guerrero but MP fighting Alvarado is twice as bad, and him fighting Rios is a 100x worse.

As far as anybody knows. Except Marquez, All fighters Pac fought he beat them all in one sided fashion. Either Alvarado or Rios, it won't make any difference. Assuming Pac that brutal ko didn't take something big out of him.
Except Torrecampo.
And Singsurat.
And Morrales in their first fight.
Alvarado turned from a cherry pick to, "no way Pac was working him in sparring."
WTF??? When did Alvarado turn into Pernell Whitaker? I could easily see Pac working him in sparring.
Hell No! Alvarado is a big dude, Bob Arum chose Pillsbury Doughboy cuz he knew Mike would have been a difficult fight for Pac. Chris Arreola (aka brandon rios) is made to order, especially at 147!
