Ya Canelo beat Trout, but barley.... to me i thought it was an extremely close fight and wouldn't have been surprised to see trout with the decision at the end. And this was the only decent win he has ever had, besides trout his resume is complete garbage. Canelo throws powerful and nice combos, but half the time he takes the round off, and vs trout he threw like 30 punches per round. Now with mayweather back with SR and fighting more defensive, I don't see a very action filled fight. And the only threat canelo poses to floyd is size.
I would way rather see floyd fight martinez, pacquiao or the winner of the 140 lb tournament. State your opinions and comments please.
It is nothing more then Mayweather vs Baldomir 2.0 IMO...Canelo is not more skilled overall then Robert Guerrero to be honest, just bigger and I guess has more power but he is not faster nor does he have better skills then Guerrero overall, don't have a jab as good as Guerrero, not a pressure fighter, haven't seen him fight anybody inside and his Stamina is Sh1t, he is not a Southpaw
Canelo is not ready for Mayweather but for some reason you have fans who are just desperate to see Mayweather lose at this point that they are just picking out who ever now, Bigger Guys it don't matter, its a never ending quest to find someone to beat Mayweather
I think Mayweather should just do it, be the first to expose Canelo before someone else comes along and do it! Fans call for this match and call Mayweather "SCARED OF CANELO" but yet when they start a poll asking who would win they all pick Mayweather by Decision HAHAHA

The first and foremost reason is that it is the biggest fight that can be made right now in boxing from an attention to the sport and financial viewpoint (forget Manny, that can't be done, he has all his next 3 fights with TR).
The second reason is that Canelo may be big enough and strong enough to make it interesting, which currently no 40 or 47 pounder can claim except maybe Khan and Petersen who could have some success with things they do.

I agree. I see this being like Mayweather Ortiz (maybe no cheapshot but i wouldn't doubt it if he gets a chance lol)
Or maybe Martinez Chavez would be a good comparison. I wouldn't be shocked if Canelo catches Mayweather, but I don't think he can win
Think of it like, you've been dating an ugly fat chick for 3 years, you break up, and immediately get into another relationship with an average-looking girl. To everyone else she's meh, but to you she's a supermodel.

Wow , you hit the button
They won't be after the fight is over.
Same old story.
The funniest part is this time last year the fight was considered a joke and the cherry pick of all cherry picks.
Same thing happened with Guerrero. It was a joke a year earlier. So you are right, that was a selective cherry pick on a guy that did nothing much. YET Floyd fans were saying it was a good fight ......
Same old story .....
Canelo still needs a few more fights against good quality opponents and to fix his stamina issues .... but you will forget the ones like me who said that ....
Same old story .....
By the way, Floyd wanted a greener version of Canelo last year. So you are actually agreeing that that would have been ANOTHER selected cherry pick for Floyd but fortunately, Canelo said not yet .....
Same old story .....
All this bs talk about Floyd picking a "real challenge" or being in the ring with a "live body" etc. is so ridiculous. It is amazing to me how everyone is a serious challenge until he beats them, then they are a, b, c, etc. I've been around boxing a long time and what I have learned is that a lot of people just hate undefeated brash fighters. They just do. RJJ was hated and the same criticism was leveled against him. Calzaghe was hated too. So many people think oh he is undefeated so he is cherry picking or not fighting challenges. All of this just because the guy is ****y, arrogant, etc. Pac is humble, respectful, and the last 5-6 years of his career has been the epitome of cherry picking, weight draining bs and no one says a word. The double standard is sickening. Floyd beat Castillo, Corrales, Hatton, Ortiz, Judah, Corley, Ndou, Chavez, Sosa, Juuko, Guerrero all in their primes. He beat ODLH and Cotto at their natural weights as well. He embarrassed Shane and JMM, two HOF fighters. I mean this is a guy who has lost maybe 10-15 rounds in probably his entire career. No matter who he beats its the same ****. If he beats Canelo, watch we will hear the same ****. Pac is so worshipped and sure hes humble and entertaining with a pleasing style, I agree. In reality, Pac is not 1/5th the boxer Floyd is from a skill perspective and anyone who knows boxing knows that. Pac fought Morales in his prime and lost. Pac fought JMM in his prime and in reality, lost 3 out of 4, regardless what the judges say. Lost to Bradley in his prime too, even though the decision was shady sure, but Pac did not outclass him at all.
I know people love to hate on him but people need to realize how talented Floyd is. I think 10-20 years from now it is going to sink in. How many gd no name mexican bums did JC Chavez Sr. fight throughout his undefeated career huh? Did anyone say **** then? No. Real boxing fans know and respect the truth and love or hate Floyd he IS the best fighter in the world and THE best fighter of the last 15-20 years. Im fking sick of this bs talk.
If your stance is "Floyd fought the top fighter", why is OK in your eyes that Floyd never fought Margarito, Williams or Cotto when they were the top fighters at 147?

or pacqiuo or tszyu or martinez or anyone really north of 135
Considering that Floyd beat both Oscar and Cotto by 8 rounds or more? I'm just saying...
Uh no unless you're hung up on mayweathers jock strap he did not win by that much
I said the same thing. People said his fight with Guerrero was boring well I wonder how his fight with Canelo is going to be with Floyd knowing this guy is bigger and stronger then he is... It's going to be another "boring" fight.
It's not going to be a fight because mayweather will duck him like hes done with everyone else.
Floyds options are limited.
Canelo is probably the best opponent who is marketable, but also is a slight threat.(compared to his other options)
Trouble with suggesting Floyd has cherry picked his opponents is that you have to state who he should have fought and consider all the issues involved in making those fights happen.
Who is worthy of the great mayweather then?
Believe it or not Mayweathers's TOUGHEST fights, are going to come from people we're not dying to see him fight. Khan and Alexander and Bradley will be some of Floyd's more difficult fights.
I want canelo to develop a little bit more. Get some big fights and build. Next May he won't need Floyd to make a major fight. He's 22 and a big boy only getting bigger and if he beats good competitive comp then he can have a big fight with Martinez for the lineal MW.
I say winner of Lara/Angulo and maybe cotto in dec for a cap feather and destroy Martinez May 3rd. GBP will push him over Floyd if it comes down to it.
cotto deserves a rematch more than canelo.... one good win isn't enough, i think canelo needs at least one more good win such as lara or cotto or even kirkland, molina, ishe smith etc. Im sure martinez would be ready by sept 14 if mayweather came asking and i know a lot of these other fights aren't possible for september but hypothetically i dunno how people are so high on this matchup compared to others people ask like its the best potential match for flloyd ever
They gave up on Manny and moved to the next bandwagon. So be it. Just be prepared to read all the "Canelo was too green excuses" before and after their fight
Who is worthy of the great mayweather then?
I agree that it is the best realistic fight that can be made and that is why it should be made. I just have a feeling most people would find it a really boring fight based on both their styles. I also think Alvarez is still a year or so off being ready for a Mayweather fight. I hope this fight gets made within their next two fights.
I would be high on this fight AFTER and IF Nelo beats Lara. Ok, maybe the fight should happen now just because it's the "biggest" fight to be made right now, but Nelo really doesn't deserve May just yet. His very first fight against a real live opponent was a sham that should have been a draw!! Most who are already high on this fight hate Floyd and should say; Floyd is just too good and needs to raise the stakes a little by giving himself some sort of disadvantage! Sorry but it's more respectable if you say that first:boxing:
