Don King and Bob Arum never boxed as far as I know. DiBella also not, did any boxing promoter ever box himself?
I know there was a Promoter in MMA (the boss of Affliction - Tom Atencio) who once stepped into the cage himself and had a fight.....no disrespect to him, but the fight looked fixed to me. But still he took real punches...
EDIT: I am asking which old school promoters boxed themselves. Of course I know De la Hoya and Hatton boxed and now they are promoters.
Classic Oner moments guy.Heres another for those who don't know him Oner is on the ring at 53 secs and clocks a hit but not as bad as the guy in the white suit
Turk-German Ahmet Oner boxed and now has a decent promotional business.Thankfully unlike the two mentioned in the op Oner is a man off integrity and does business the right way
My favourite Ahmet Oner moment is when he personally rang the bell with a minute and a half to go in a round in the Williams-Airich fight:

That guy is the one who rang the bell during the Danny Williams vs Airich bout 2 minutes into the round when his fighter was about to get KOd. The funny thing is they allowed the fight to continue without questioning why the promoter had just got up and rang the timekeepers bell.

Ahmet Oner, of Arena Box, fought as a professional light-heavyweight. His record was 16-5-2. (You can look it up on Boxrec.) Oner once co-promoted Yuriorkis Gamboa, along with Top Rank. He currently promotes Odlanier Solis.
BULL ****!!!!!!
I grew up in the exact same neighborhood as Curtis. He was NEVER a boxer. I can confirm he has been in a few street fights. Ask him about the time he was beat to a pulp by a dude named Ricky who only stood 5'3 back in 92
I know a trainer in NYC who says he trainer 50 and that he only had around 3 amateur fights, novice class. WAS NEVER the Golden Gloves champion.
Theres this one guy, forget his name. Oscar something or other. Hes a promoter now but I heard he boxed before. Probably amateur and a few club fights.
50 cent was a golden gloves champion also.
i have yet to see that information verified, but he did box evidently. have you seen anything concrete to verify it?
quite a few, actually. klitschkos, and oscar de la hoya have made the most money, i believe.
cotto and mayweather also promote.
joe deguardia still looks like he can go 6 rounds :lol1:

sure guys, I mean, I wasn't talking about the obvious ones. Of course I know in the last 10 years we have Oscar, Hatton, etc. But I mean basically before those guys.
By the way, now that I think of it, british promoter Frank Maloney boxed himself early in his life.
