Run Floyd Run
No way. He has been running from Pacquiao for 3 years. People keep making excuses for Mayweather not fighting Pacquiao. MW could make an easy 60 mil fighting Pac, so why doesn't he. He is a COWARD. He knows Pac would knock him out.
And Cotto/Top Rank wanted no part of Mayweather-Cotto in 2005-2006, even saying Cotto wasn't ready for that fight. Floyd splits from Top Rank, says he'll fight Margarito for 8 million, if Arum guarantee's him good money for Oscar and Cotto, and Arum refuses. The ducking Cotto talk didn't happen until Floyd split from Top Rank, than all of a sudden he was ducking them. Does anyone think it's coincidence all the guys Floyd supposedly ducked like Margarito, Pacquiao, and Cotto in 2007 were all Top Rank fighters???
Also, Floyd and Cotto met at 154 in highly anticipated fight in May 2012 anyway.
Williams lost to Carlos Quintana 2 months after Floyd stopped Hatton. Floyd attempted to fight Shane in 2006 and it wasn't Floyd's fault it didn't happen then. Whatever happened there, Floyd and Shane fought in a highly aticipated fight in May 2010 after Shane stopped Margarito, and EVERYONE wanted that fight when it happened.
Berto lost to Ortiz when Floyd was looking for his comeback fight, Floyd was going to fight Berto, all he had to do was beat Ortiz. He didn't. Floyd fought Ortiz instead.
berto was also given a 2nd chance and he blew it against ghost.
i think they do... i respect floyd, but i cant imagine him engaging in a "super 6" style tournament @ 147 when that division was stacked.... in fact, he retired and waited for the dust to settle....
p-will, shane, berto, margs, cotto, etc.... and those were BEAST versions of those fighters too.
thats why ward gets the comparison, IMO... and his future is bright too. if he continues on this trajectory, he will potentially have an atg career ahead of him.

Marquez weighed the same when he put Pacquiao to bed. Mayweather just doesn't run into right hands face first.
fat/water-weight VS pure muscle
big difference
Why would anyone compare Ward and Floyd? Why??? Ward's fans don't have a leg to stand on with this argument.

So the 2 lbs were why Floyd handed Marquez his ass and shut him out??? Okay, didn't realize he imposed his size on him, to me it seemed like he just out boxed him the entire fight, damn.....what was I watching???
to be fair, jmm had to jump 2 divisions for that payday.... so that 2 lbs was just icing on the cake... or final nail in the coffin.... depends on how you view it.
No offence but when you talk legacy money is irrelevant so please don't put ppv star and legacy in the same paragraph. I acknowledge it is prize fighting but floyd fans are so materialistic it's mind boggling. Personally if ward becomes atg and the greatest smw, lhw or whatever. I would most likely give him credit more than floyd.
I wasn't saying you have to be a PPV star to be an ATG.....I was responding to the guy who said Ward will become a PPV fighter one day.
Ward has a LONG LONG LONG way to go to catch Mayweather in total resume, a long way to go. And he's already 29.
If I posted it, I meant it. Calling Floyd one of the greatest to ever lace up gloves, doesn't stop with just skills. You have to fight the fighters who the fans say can beat you. PERIOD. That means taking risks. Floyd does not like to challenge himself. If he did, he wouldn't have fought Marquez, Ortiz, The Ghost, and a few others. He started out on the right path to greatness but lost it once he became his own boss. Cotto did things against Floyd that no one had ever done before. A prime Oscar would have fought in a similar way but would have outpointed Floyd. Cotto took Floyd's razor like right hand away and eventually Floyd adjusted and started throwing the right hook. He won the fight 7-5 in my eyes and was dominated for a full round( round 8). It was Cotto's best performance. Give credit where it's do. Stop acting like Floyd fights the best because he doesn't. He's a BULLY who's smart about who he fights and when he fights them.
A prime ODH was called out by floyd, ODH refused. Can you tell me why if beating floyd was so easy? Same with shane. I don't mind your opinion I'm just asking you to defend it.
You have to fight the fighters who the fans say can beat you. PERIOD.
WHen he did fight the fights against those posters like you change what you say afterwards. Then ultimately you stick with only the guys he didn't fight and give no credit when he beats a guy you said he previously wouldn't fight.
every poster can do that with every fighter they don't like. that doesn't make the fighter less it makes the poster a hypocritical hater.
Ward will never become a PPV star, I don't see it.
He'll be recognized as the best Super Middleweight ever though, probably. I'm just saying he has a LONG LONG LONG way to go to reach Mayweather, Pacquiao, or Hopkins status on the ATG poll. He has like 4 good wins at this point and he's 29. He better get on the good foot. He should have went up in weight to fight Dawson, the greats go up.

When you've never laced them up, you think like this above.
Wtf....
WTF is up with your font, dude? It's BLUE and that is what's up with it. Who cares about my font? You? It's about my knowledge of the sport. I am here to share boxing knowledge and exchange in healthy, positive conversations. That is all.
Whatever.

Here we go again. The guy beats another C Level fighter who calls him out and you post this thread? Smh. Come on man. How long have you been watching boxing and not just Floyd? He's not even close! Better than Marciano? Yeah, ok. Floyd can't even fight two tough fights in a row. The guy isn't built like you all think he is. WHY would he fight The Ghost? That was an easy pay day like he knew when he signed to fight him. He's a great fighter BUT he doesn't take risks or challenge himself as a fighter. He's the one who said he's better than Robinson, Ali, Leonard, and Whitaker. Not me, so prove it then by fighting guys who can challenge you; That's what they did.
WTF is up with your font dude?
lol did Floyd go back in time and make weight?
So the 2 lbs were why Floyd handed Marquez his ass and shut him out??? Okay, didn't realize he imposed his size on him, to me it seemed like he just out boxed him the entire fight, damn.....what was I watching???
I think he'll be better. He would fight and beat everybody around his weight.
Ward is 29 years old now, and only has 4-5 good wins at this point. Kessler and Froch were real good wins, Abraham and Bika were decent wins. Dawson would have been a huge win at 175 lbs, and even a good win at reasonable catchweight. Instead it happened at 168 lbs where Dawson hadn't been in 6 years and was clearly drained.
By the time Floyd was 29 he had like 10 good wins on his resume. Genaro (#1 130), Manfredy (#2 130), Corrales (#1 130/#5 P4P), C. Hernandez (Top 10 130), Chavez (#4 130), Castillo (#1 135), Corley (#6 140), Gatti (#1 140), Judah (#5 147), Baldomir (RING 147).
Since then Mayweather has gotten another 6-7 good wins. De La Hoya (#3 154), Hatton (#8 P4P), Marquez (#2 P4P, good win now), Mosley (#1-2 147/#3 P4P), Ortiz (#2 147), Cotto (#1 154), and Guerrero (#3 147).
Ward has a LONG LONG LONG way to go.
