"@danrafaelespn @kevinI A LOT of misinformation contained in this thread. Amazing how far people will go despite lacking facts."
"@KevinI @danrafaelespn So, Kevin, how much money are we going to lose? And what's your factual basis for saying that?"
A very quick look at the figures shows that 900,000 would bring in around $60 mill. With $30 mill going to the TV and Cable Companies and $10,mill at the gate (assuming that it was a REAL figure, (not inflated by the promoters just paying the $6 seat tax) making a $40 mill gross take (not counting theatres which historically isn't much) from which approx all taxes would amount to 42%. This would leave $24 mill, from which Mayweather's $32 mill, Guerrero's $3 mill, plus the undercard, plus the Promoter's cut of about 25%, leaving a deficit of about $25 mill.
I don't know where the various cuts are from the gross or the net and I haven't counted the theatre revenue nor the souvenirs and sundries, both of which I believe to be comparatively small. Whichever way it is, unless there is "imaginative accounting", it looks to be a huge loss.
Another point, in the Showtime-Mayweather contract, Showtime would be foolish not to have included a 'contingency" clause, where the purse would take into consideration a poor result. At the same time, Mayweather would be equally foolish is he didn't insist on being paid regardlesss of the "outcome of the income"...And the whole "$30 mill" payday might be subject to-almost CERTAINLY would be-all sorts of "whereas-es".... $30 mill in REAL money isn't earned so easily by ANYONE.... but it always makes wonderful PR.
In my experience, only ONE professional athlete offered to pay back his fee when the gate was poor. That was tennis star Bill Tilden, about 75 years ago.
golden boy does not get 25%, they get fixed flat fee, which i have no idea on what it is but prob around 3m
It's amazing what people will run with even with lack of any evidence
like certain fighters being on steroids?

Iole and Fat Dan have no reason to lie, gbp and sho on the other hand have alot of reasons
Normally after a ppv they already have a good idea of where its gonna end up and its gonna flop harder than john carter

900,000 PPV buys *$60= $54,000,000
Let say 250,000 bought HD which is $10 more
250,000 * $10 = $2,500,000
$54,000,000+$2,500,000= $56,500,000
Sponsors (They all have to pay a fee)
Corona Extra
O'Reilly Auto Parts
AT&T
Star Trek Into Darkness
Valvoline
Gate estimate is about $9,000,000(those are the number from Ortiz which it should be similar)
Also the business like Hooters and other sport bars that order the PPV they have to pay a license fee. Which means more money than the $60-$70 that a regular household would pay.

I dont think that 50% would go to the TV. Maybe a smaller percentage.
You base this claim on the word of a professional blogger, who based his info on anonymous sources (aka Bob Arum) and you expect to be taken seriously?
I dunno, assuming this is right. I know both Iole and Rafael are reliable, probably the 2 highest profile guys around. Chances are they took a hit, but how big is the question. If these estimates are right, that's a ridiculous hit, it cripples Showtime Boxing, and GBP as well.
Regardless, if anyone took the hit there it was Arum. Here's Showtime boxing taking a massive hit, possibly like 1/2 their annual budget!

You got a very solid point. But taxes are not calculated from the gross. Taxes are determined after all related and allowable expenses are deducted. They might get a deferred tax asset for future periods with that significant loss. But they are not separate entities, so it will just help Show taxes.
Floyd wont like the results. From his $32M he gets deducted over $12M for IRS. He is not getting any more revenues from the PPV, because there is no Profit to split and he will have to pay from his pocket to his fighters and the % invested in the fight promotion.
No numbers were ever released on Pac/Mosley, so they were simply reporting what Arum told them. If you think Pac/Mosley broke 1 million PPVs, I have a bridge I want to sell you.

That was the Mosley fight... you know, the one with no confirmation on the actual numbers; just arum's word.
PPV NUMBERS HAVE NOT BEEN RELEASED BY THE NETWORK ON ANY PAC FIGHT SINCE the Margrito fight. All the numbers have come from Lying Bob.
Exactly.
If this was SteveKim giving those numbers out I would take it with a grain of salt, but Fat Dan and Kevin work for legit big companies and have released similar estimates before fights that were close to accurate.
Just like when they said Pacquiao vs Mosley did over 1 million buys, or when the Oscar vs. Flyd fight broke 2 million.
LOL at Fat Dans response to Espinoza and showtime

I highly doubt anyone who's a mayweather fav found the fight boring. It's exactly like all his other fights where he puts on a boxing display. The fact you also used gayweather in your post makes you look even less believable. Everyone I watched it with enjoyed the performance regardless if they were Mayweather fans or not because first and foremost they boxing fans. You seem to be more of a mayweather hater than a boxing fan.
And you seem to be more of a butt hurt groupie then anyone I would care to listen to.
I didn't watch that crappy 70 dollar sparring match but even a mayweather fan I know said it was boring and gayweather ran all night as usual. I know he is obsessed with that 0 but it must eat him up knowing everyone thinks he's a cherry picker.

They coulda jacked up the PPV numbers had Floyd Sr and Ruben thrown down in a special parking lot fight co-feature.

green k sent !!
if mayweather wants to change the public perception about him all he has to do is fight credible opponents ! the fans want to see him fight canelo ! but instead mayweather will choose devon alexander or danny garcia! the boxing public has spoken with their walets this time thats why showtimes ppv bombed so hard ! and something tells me their next event do worse than this one did , unless canelo or someone else thats legit is his opponent !!
