Curios to know why most people training in boxing dont really try to pick up ricardo lopezes boxing style?
Dude has PERFECT balance, he is never off-balance,great footwork, great punching power/scary left hook and solid hand positioning.
I always try to pick things up from ricardo but thats just me, other guys in the gym want to copy and be the next hamed, mayweather, tyson,Roy Jones jr but the way I see it is, guys like roy jones are way over athletic for the average trainee to copy.
I dont know man, seriously, I think Ricardo Lopez has the most sound style of boxing when it comes to copying other boxers...
how many times did Lopez taste canvas compared to jmm?
How many weight classes did Marquez fight in compared to Lopez?
How many ATG's did Marquez fought compared to Lopez?
really? hes hardly a top 5 mexican fighter even
I agree with you based on competition, but to fight like Lopez required amazing balance, discipline and punch selection.
Textbook is a deceptive term. Very few fighters can actually fight in a textbook style effectively. Its rather rigid and unnatural for most. Obviously not Finito and JMM.

If we're talking about pure skill alone and not career, ricardo lopez is arguably number 1 for greatest Mexican boxers. He's a better version of jmm. Doesn't sacrifice defense to counter.
finito is excellent i just dont understand how people can forget guys like zarate, olivares, sanchez, canto, chavez, barera, morales like they dont have boxing skill?
I think they like Finito because he was undefeated and rarely got roughed up in a fight, he made it look like his fights were not even competitive and he would dominate a lot by technical skilled knockouts.
Go to 1:25, watch how he beautifully counters a jab with a left uppercut.
Finito is so underrated, you never hear his name mentioned at all, but this guy was the greatest most technical little man ever, and had devastating power from precision. These knockouts are all from precise technical timed punches.
The only knock though is his competition is pretty subpar. So I guess its why you never really see him rated to highly.
I just watched this highlight video:
Just look at his stance, the way he throws the straight right and the left uppercut. Very similar to JMM.
Yup, and they look like each other too lol
JMM is more of a counter puncher on the back foot though, Lopez was a bit more aggressive but they basically use the same style, stance, its a matador style no covering up, no tying up, no blocking just a lot of countering when the guy makes mistakes. JMM gets hit a lot more though because he isn't used to going forward all his knockdowns have come from when he tries to mix it up or walk a guy down.
He was a complete fighter, but its not easy to do everything he could do and do it well. Lopez always looked good and a lot of that had to do with his skill set, but part of it had to do with the level of completion he fought. He never really had anyone that challenged him until the end of his career. He reigned in a where his division wasnt very deep.
jmm does it better against better fighters. its easy to look like lopez did when youre fighting in the weakest divisions ever and youre outsizing everyone
this, its like he was fighting amateurs
If i'm honest, I don't like his defense and the way he throws punches. It did him good for 50+ pro fights but I don't like it. I like Marquez's version of the style much better, despite Marquez having "losses".

You mean Nacho Beristan style of boxing?
Nacho trained Finito, and guess who fights just like Lopez a bigger version? Juan Manuel Marquez, another guy who fights like Lopez and Marquez is that kid who beat Brian Viloria.
This is the only style that can defeat Manny Pacquiao and gives him hell because it is the matador style of boxing, no blocking with the covered face, you step back and counter or side step like bull fighting, Nacho taught this style and its why its very effective against aggressive boxers but you also must be patient and brave because its a risky style since you rarely play defense and use offensive counters as your defense similar to bull fighting. No holding, no covering up, just footwork and counter combos.
