Floyd Mayweather Jr is the current WBA Super Champion at 154 pounds after beating Cotto. Austin Trout was a WBA World Champion at 154, but Canelo was awarded the WBA Super Champion belt without stripping FMJ of his....

Boxing amirite?!
So we got two "super" champions holding the same title... the ABC thugs are seriously getting out of hand. We need a FEDERAL boxing commission
The only rankings that matter? that website hasn't got Wladimir as the champion! and out of all the divisions wlad is the lineal champ and one title away from undisputed championship yet they have rigo as a champ? i dont get that.
Because Wlad and Vitali haven't fought, that to me is a perfectly legitimate reason as to why Wlad isn't totally undisputed as the champ at Heavyweight, even if Vitali is starting to slip. Arguing one way or another about it is getting into subjective territory, whereas objectively, the no.1 and no.2 of the division since 2008 haven't fought eachother
Who cares, belts mean nothing.

And since in a previous thread, Snake clearly divulged his limited knowledge about boxing .ill dive into Detail for others who are 'retarded'
WBA currently lists Floyd Mayweather Jr as the WBA Super-Welterweight "Super" World Champion. Prior to the Trout/Canelo fight, WBA listed Austin Trout as the WBA Super-Welterweight World Champion.
After Canelo beat Austin Trout, he was Awarded the WBA Super-Welterweight "Super" world Champion belt..... a title that Floyd Mayweather Jr has held since he defeated Cotto...
Therefore, there are TWO champions with the same title/belt.
Trout beat Cotto worse and Canelo beat Trout. Canelo is more deserving of the Title. Floyd and his paper titles.
Boxrec isn't necessarily correct though. They might have assumed that because that's the usual procedure, but like I said in my posts there seems to be a few little factors that confuse it a little
We have to wait till the WBA make an announcement on the situation. The most likely route I see them taking is to keep Canelo as a regular champ, Floyd as Super, that way they get paid more. But it also means Canelo isn't strictly unified, so idk.
Maybe. There's a precedent though, both Gamboa and John were super at 126
well, the fact we can't all agree on whos champion in a divison is a problem!! (-_-)
Nothing new there, we didn't know who the champion was most of the time with just 4 belts from different orgs. Now there's super duper champions and **** it's ridiculous.
You can check on boxrec, says Canelo Trout contested for WBA Super, plus WBC

That's usually the case, but until recently, they added a 5 defence rule where you can be super champ after defending it 5 times or so.
The actual rule they had was that if a fighter held TWO other titles, they would upgrade to Super Champ (to emulate the previous 3 belt champ setup). But the WBA is plagued with corruption and so we have what we have.
Usually, the WBA have a pre-made Super belt to hand out to the winners of unified matches, but it didn't appear to be so this time around. That's why I believe Canelo is just the regular WBA champ and thus not unified in a strict sense.
Really wish they'd all have a setup like the IBF. One champion, no silver/regular/interim crap.

WBA gives any fighter that hold their belt along with WBC or WBO or IBF the super champion title they will probably change the name or stop unifying/ recognizing other belts like WBC does

I didn't see the WBA give him the weird looking Super Belt after the fight, so I assume he just as the regular title. I might be wrong, but I never saw it.

Thats the regular WBA belt Trout had.
Floyd is the WBA champion. Ratings always favour the Super Champ over the Regular one, Wladimir over Povetkin, etc etc.
As a Trout fan, I always said he should go after a proper title instead of the one he had.
In this sense, Canelo isn't a unified champion until he has Mayweathers belt.

Floyd should have been stripped since its going to be over a year before defending the problem is having a Champion, interim champion and a Super Champion in the same division somebody should sue WBA
He has 18 months to defend it

but im talking specifically about the WBA, and how they currently have TWO champions. Here's a pretty good article detailing it.

Are you sure he's the Super Champion?
The title he won wasn't a highly regarded title. Floyd is the WBA champ. Canelo, to me, is the WBC champ with a less regarded WBA strap.
according to the WBA official site, he (Floyd) is the Super Champion, still has Trout on there as just the regular champ. But according to ESPN, Canelo won the SUPER Champion belt/title.
Canelo Alvarez defeated Austin Trout in a light middleweight title unification bout at the Alamodome in San Antonio on April 20, 2013. Alvarez successfully defended his WBC light middleweight belt and won Trout's WBA Super World light middleweight belt.

WBA got Floyd at super just so he can still hold a title there
Canelo is technically a super champ because he has 2 titles
yeah Super Champ in general..im talking specifically about the WBA
