Alright, let's establish this now... is he a draw or not?
Let's get the obvious out of the way. His three biggest PPV's were against the top sellers in the sport, averaging over a million each time.
1 million
1.3 million
1.15 million
I think those are the numbers.
Also, when people were making a case for Marquez to be given a 50/50 split, a point that those in favor of Marquez brought up was most of those buys came from him or he was the reason and it wouldn't have sold that much without him.
So if Marquez can only bring, as some people have stated, 100k buys in, is he a draw or not in this sport?
Marquez is a Draw as I know of JMM-Pac, still holds the record ppv for LW and below, and we should make it clear he is not a draw in the level of floyd or pacquiao but closer to cotto...
I may be wrong on my assumption but we could see Marquez drawing power on his fight vs bradley, if he can pull up at least 800k and up buys, after his KO victory over pacquiao, he is bigger draw than I thought and if pacquiao wants to fight him 50-50 is fair...
Don't ever in your life compare the great Marquez to Antonio Tarver. Weak style of fighting? The man is a legend, an ATG, a fukin warrior and should be respected. You get red K for this statement.
Hahaha look at this butthurt guy... Tarver is a future HOF dude... I hate his style of boxing but you have to give him what he's due. He took down RJJ, a boxer who is eons ahead of marquez and even pacman.
If your mexican you will understand this....
Marquez pelea como maricon. En my familia todos le vamos a pcquiao porque pelea como mexicano, puro para delante y no con miedo como marquez. Tu y Marquez me la pe.......:boxing:
i think he is a big draw, for premium tv... but cannot headline his own PPV.
he saw one of his biggest paydays against floyd via PPV... but fought on HBO until he landed the pac fight.
jmm is a legend in his own right, but he wont see the same hype canelo will have in the next few years. sadly, the PPV hypemachine will pass jmm by AGAIN.
PPV draw? NO..... premium tv draw? YES.
jmm/bradley would do great on HBO. it would DIE on PPV.
So, JMM should probably have taken 40% and been done with it. Instead he's going to fight Bradley for 2 mill and get danced around all night while losing a UD. It's the Chris John saga all over again.
who cares it still wont change the fact he will be forever known as the man who got robbed and took matters into his own hands and put pacman to sleep. him losing to bradley wont change that
everyone is trying to use past numbers arguing that he aint a draw. after beating pac man the way he did he has a whole new mystique about him. he has alot more fans because of it he is for sure a draw. obviously not at the floyd pac level but hes a notch below. my only point is using numbers from before the pac knockout is pointless. he will even have every pac man fan tuning in hoping he loses that bradley jmm match will do 700k atleast imo

After that spectacular KO he will sell but not at the rate Pac and Floyd sells.
You also have Bradley which ppl like to hate cause the Pac decision.
Both guys got a lot of exposure for the Pac fights as late and should do well fighting each other. IMO I just don't think they will sell 1 million PPV unless the undercard is spectacular
So does Marquez not have the rabid fan base we all thought or was told?
I easily rate him the 3rd highest draw after May and Pac, definitely over Cotto at this point.
We can't count Canelo yet, your fans are willing to watch you for free, but when money is due, they might not be as rabid as you think.
Hes the mexican Antonio Tarver.... even if he knocked out the graetest of his era... he will never be too popular due to his lack of charisma and weak style of fighting. This coming from a mexican

as of right now , he's not ..as of the future nobody knows....you would think the pacman ko would make him more popular but nobody seems too crazy for him to get back in the ring unless it's againts pacman...
