Has any other trainer besides Goody Petronelli trained a guy from his first day in the gym to his last, from a kid to the HALL OF FAME? Goody trained Marvin from his very first day in the gym through the amateurs (National AAU Champ in 1973) right up until his last fight and last day and right into the HOF...no other trainer for Marvin, ever...
Floyd Sr and Roger trained little Floyd since he was a boy up until he won his first championship. And beyond.
Also...looking over Henry Maske's resume it is not that impressive and probably not worthy of the Hall of Fame. Who is his best win, Iran Barkley?
Well your old opponent Henry Maske was trained by Manfred Wolke in his entire career. As far as I know, Maske is not in the IBHOF, but had he been an american, he's have been there for sure.
Yea, Henry was on the ballot this year but didnt get in...I assume he will enter next year

King tried to poison the minds of James Toney AND Roy Jones, telling them they both needed to "get rid of the jews" - The Levin brothers (Roy) and jackie (JT) - with NO success...
Didn't Toney threaten to kill Jackie after the lost to Roy? Claiming that she fucked him over?
both marquez brothers
emanuel steward and tommy hearns
marvin hagler was with the pretronelli brothers for his entire career. i'd have to read up to know/remember who taught him to box as a youngster.
edit :
read the thread, NE, you jackass.

I don't tknow, but i know that Hagler had his first pro fight with Top Rank and right through out his whole career including his last one. He was particularly fond of Bob Arum. Don King tried to steal him by getting friendly with his wife and when she tried to talk him into switching, he told her that if she didn't keep out of his business affairs he'd stop supporting her mother........
That's some real G sh1t right there.

Yes I have the perfect example. There was a boxer many years ago named Jimmy McLarnin, who became world welterweight champion, he won and lost to Barney Ross. His trainer and manager was Pop Foster. Foster saw him when he was playing football at about age 14 went to his family and said he could make a world champion out of him. He promised the family he'd take good care of him and took him away with him.. He did. McLarnin made lots of money, which he kept and he retired when Pop Foster told him to. Foster did too. He was the only fighter he ever had.
Great story! Tried to green K but apparently I'm a karma whore and I've given out too much lately
I think Roy was trained by Papa too for a long time.
Also, all of the examples above are Father Son training relationships. Nothing wrong with that but are there any others where the trainer is no relation?
I'll try to think but I'm a little befuddled by wine right now.
Ahh okay, thanks for enlightening me. :)

Wild guess here, as I really don't know, but Jones Jr and Merkerson?
