Just looking at the light middleweight rankings and bar Lara no-one really stands out as a major test for Canelo. But one name that has me intrigued is this young fella Andrade. And here is why
Firstly his skill set
1. He's a 6'1 tall southpaw
2. He's got good movement around the ring
3. He has very good power having ko'd 13 of his 18 opponants thus far
4. His defence is clean
5. He's throws combinations with good speed
6. He uses his height and jab well
7. He can hang in the pocket
Now to some other interesting facts about him
1. He's a former olympian and has a decent amatuer background
2. He's now being trained by Virgil Hunter
Having watched some of his fights i'd say he looks similar to Trout but he has some physical and technical advantages that would serve him much better against the likes of Canelo. For a start Andrade is both taller and bigger than Trout, so the weight advantage Canelo had yesterday wouldn't be an issue. Andrade also puts his combo's together much more crisper, which has been something Trout has struggled with for a while imo because he tends to miss a lot. And lastly one thing he has that i believe would be a major factor is that thing called POWER, Canelo didn't respect Trout's last night but it would be interesting to see how he would cope against a man with serious pop in his hands.
Andrade already said he doesn't rate Canelo much HERE
And yesterday said this on twitter after the fight..
Greg The Rebel Kid@Greg_GETTING_IT
Alvarez vs @boobooboxing , Andrade will beat his ass.!!
And
Greg The Rebel Kid@Greg_GETTING_IT
@boobooboxing will beat canelo Alvarez easily !!
It's probably not a fight that will happen anytime soon, but i get the feeling this will be a big fight in the next twelve months or so if andrade keeps knocking fools out!!.
Lastly HERE is a Video of one of his last nights!! :boxing: .
Canelo/GBP are too caught up in trying to get Floyd in the ring. Andrade is gonna be in the background building his name and resume, waiting for the opportunity and I don't think it'll come anytime soon.
His first step towards stardom is his next fight against Baysangurov. Andrade is the type of fighter who will benefit greatly from having a title.
Yea they won't let Andrade in the same time-zone of Canelo if they have any choice at all. All Andrade can do is make his name as big as possible making him impossible to ignore, that starts with Baysangurov preferably in impressive fashion.
It's good to see some folks agree with me, imo he has all the tools to give Canelo a serious problem. Two or three fights down the line i see Andrade calling out Canelo.

Trying to remember if it was him or Rabchenko that had a good body attack.... but that KO to K9 is still pretty bad.
Going into Kiev is going to be hard for him, I got that Paulie fight in the back of my head where he was somehow down.
IMO, he's going to have to KO Baysangurov, I just hope he keeps that in mind
Indeed, he better pack his bad intentions if he intends on coming back with the belt.
Yea, I don't think much of whatever his name is because I just can't get past a guy getting destroyed by K-9 Bundrage but going into another guy's yard and taking his belt is always impressive because that guy isn't giving it up without a fight (especially for a youngster).
I am interested to see how he approaches the fight, if he does his more normal thing or if he goes in more aggressive knowing he may need to do something a little more than just winning easy to actually win.

It'll probably be in Kiev.
Should be interesting.
Very very impressive if he goes there and wins

That is what is lined up, either in Russia or the Ukraine.

No one cares about this retard. Seriously, when he speaks I contemplate suicide.
Alright, but since when has verbal acumen meant anything to a guys ability inside the ring.
Besides I like a guy with no other options to succeed he needs boxing thus should treat it as importantly as possible~
i've seen andrade fight live quite a few times. he's got more physical tools than canelo. he's fast, very big, and he's got better boxing skills. that said, i think alvarez would stop him if they fought next. he's a much better professional boxer. andrade is far from a finished product. there's a reason that he's being moved slowly.
Yeah i'm talking about this fight taking place in around 12-18 months or so when Andrade has at least 24 fights under his belt. I think with him working with Hunter and being around Ward it's bound to take his game to the next level. In terms of technical and physical attributes i think Andrade would be a major problem for Canelo once he gains some more experience.
Demetrius Andrade if he is the goods (I happen to think he is) is a natural problem for anyone in and around his class. He is a huge 154 pounder with huge range (even at 160 or 168 he wouldn't look out of place in a few years).
Now he is a lefty that loves to use his jab and use his huge range, plus when he sit down on his shots he seems to bring some real fire.
Ain't nobody in boxing history that wants to see a tall, big, lanky, southpaw, with an educated jab, some pop and the desire/ability to utilize those attributes across from him. So while I do agree this statement would not limited to Canelo.
