Does it seem to you guys like:
1) He pushes some of his punches?
2) He telegraphs somewhat often?
3) Punches are not as straight as they could be?
4) He doesn't use his height to his advantage?
5) He doesn't use intelligent holding to his advantage?
I think with some corrections he could've won the fight clearly. Perhaps he needs a new trainer who can get him snappier on his punches, like a Freddie Roach or someone similar.
there were a couple of us that thought that trout was as un proven as canelo but there were alot on here that were making him out to be this great fighter
Pretty much, it's disgusting how after one fight posters on Boxingscene can elevate a boxer to the "The most ducked/feared fighter" in history club, I still remember how they claimed Canelo left the building while watching the Trout-Cotto fight because he didn't want to fight Trout.

And i'd also argue that his inability to put his punches together properly has effected his power because he rarely connects right on the button. I mean it was embarrassing how Canelo was laying on the ropes last night all gassed out and he was swinging away without making much of a dent. Canelo would have been in huge trouble if he did that against a decent and accurate puncher.
This is what I said on another thread,
Trout's offense was more built around finding an escape route as oppose to mounting on an effective attack, even when he came forward his weight was on the back foot, jus' ready to pull back. This is why I never found Trout's style appealing to me, good quality boxer but his style urks me to be honest, it really really does. I want him to commit to punches, show more faith in his offense.
Trout landed 20% of his shots on Canelo.
Is Canelo a defensive beast or is Trout just inaccurate?
Lets see.. vs Delvin Rodriquez Trout landed 22% of his shots.
So maybe Trout does have accuracy issues.
It's something that has been obvious from day one. His combo's always look a little wreckless to me, sometimes it comes off and looks very good but when a man moves his head like Canelo did yesterday he just looks clumsy. He needs to find a way to put his punches together better if he wants to get that belt back in the future because arm punches don't win you fights.
He definitely throws a lot of arm punches. Doesn't want to risk sitting down so much due to his questionable chin
Exactly what I noticed. Good athlete but very sloppy and doesn't commit to his punches.
Floyd sr would make him complete, he would polish out his punching technique. I still think he is a good fighter just minor tweaks. Both guys came to win it was one of those fights where either you scored it for the more accurate guy who landed hard shots but fights in spurts or the busier guy that didn't land many meaningful shots.
I mentioned in another thread that one problem he had was that when he had Canelo on the ropes or was on the inside he would still throw straight shots. He should have used more hooks to the body and head when he was close.
