1. Canelo is the real deal. He displayed real boxing craft and skills.
2. Trout has a power problem.
3. Fighting in Texas is not a good idea for most.
4. Open scoring might not be so bad if the judging wasn't so horrid.
5. Canelo is a dangerous opponent for Mayweather.
and most importantly...
6. Rigondeaux is still the man

1. He proved to me last night that he can mix it at a world class level, but I don't think he won the fight. His output was low and he looked tired in the second half of the fight.
2. Agreed. He just doesn't commit to his punches enough. Good boxer though.
3. Fighting in Texas is not a good idea unless your surname is Chavez or Alvarez. Stanley Christodoulou is a disgrace.
4. I agree with that also. I think the only reason Trout said he'd lost fair and square was because he found out at the end of the 8th that he was that far back despite the fight being an even affair. By the time the scorecards came there was no shock because he knew he needed a knockout to win after the 8th.
5. Mayweather wins the fight on stamina alone. Canelo's speed and defense impressed me but I think Mayweather beats him 9-3 or 8-4.
6. You know it!
Mayweather don't want none...
Lets not get silly now.
What we learned was this....
1. Canelo gasses after 4 rounds and can't fight hard for a full round to save his life
2. Jabs don't count
3. Open scoring is bulls**t when your judging is bulls**t, and it takes away from the suspense as a fan. I want to end the fight not knowing exactly how the judges might have had it, regardless of how the fight played out. I knew after they announced the cards after 4 rounds that Trout needed to dominate every single second of every single round, not get touched at all, or knock him out, to win.
4. Neither guy impressed, and is ready to fight Mayweather.
Very true. How can you outland someone by 30 punches and only get 2 rounds?
Canelo's size is the main thing I am referring to. I question if Floyd can hurt Canelo enough to keep him off of him.
He doesn't need to keep him off him, he just needs to not get hit that much. I think last night we learned that Canelo isn't good at pressuring as he can't fight a full 3 minutes. If he could fight a full 3 minutes he'd be ready for Floyd and would have a good chance of winning.
I agree with you , with the exception of point 1.
I don't think Canelo proved to be the real deal, he proved to be competitive against a top fighter in his division.
Mind you, Trout is a very good win on paper, but the way it was achieved, with the help of two judges basically killing any hope for Trout to win the fight without a K.O. by the 8th, made it stank.
And yes, I wish Rigondeaux was big enough to fight at 154 and show this redhead kid what boxing is about :D
PS: I forgot, yes Canelo could be dangerous for Floyd, but just because Canelo is much bigger and much younger.

1. Agreed. GBP has to be happy with his progression.
2. Very solid fighter and a good win for Canelo's resume but very basic and will struggle every time he reaches the elite level.
3. It's a good idea if your a favorite of Jose Suiliman
4. Hate open scoring and hope it gets permanently scrapped.
5. Only thing that makes this fight interesting is the size differential.
6. All day every day.

1. Very impressed with improvement of canelos defense, but stamina is ****
2.Trout is a great boxer, especially for someone who was relatively unknown months ago
3. Judges are retards everywhere
6. Who cares. A great fighter no doubt, but going against great opponents is just as much a part of the equation. There are a couple of fights that is like to watch with Rigo, one being a rematch with donaire, but other than that I have no desire to watch him.
Only way canelo is a threat to mayweather is that mayweather has gotten too old and canwlo will outweigh him by 20 lbs on fight night. As far as fighting skill, there is nothing canelo does that would pose a threat. Nothing. So if u wanna be happy that canelo can potentially beat a much smaller man because he's simply bigger then kudos.

I agree with number one to an extent. I don't think beating one solid opponent makes him the real deal, but of course it's a good start towards building positive momentum. I'm not sure Trout has a power problem, cuz I think some of his body shots were effective. He wasn't throwing an authoritative jab when he needed to, he was flicking it a little too much. Totally agree with #3-6.
