People can slate him etc, but they need to remember the best ever Wladimir was like at age24 to 28. He was very similar and got caught.
Tyson is flawed, and hes work in progress, but hes beaten chisora, kevin Johnson, and now Cunningham.
Steve Cunningham a very good fighter. 6ft 3 back in Ali day would be considered a big heavyweight.
I thought from round 3 onwards Tyson Fury schooled Cunningham. My critercism of fury is that he tried to do a carl froch, and made the fight to hard for him to entertain the crowd on his US debut.
Anyway cut the guy some slack, hes not perfect but hes bloomin entertaining.
I dont think he has a good chin, or decent power, but as long as he keeps winning he'll be relevant, he always comes across as taking the Chisora way to making money, talking as much ish as he can before he gets caught cold by Wlad
I agree. Fury showed balls to get up and win after being hurt. Of course he's limited and wouldn't have a chance against Hayes or the Klits, but outside of that he's the best HW going.
son, i got the grit of the nipple gettin' in on dat @ss.
Fury impressed me, and didnt in the same sentence.
Meaning he can improve. But he beat a 2 time cruiserweight champ who never been stopped, and Fury stopped him, so has done better than anyone ever has against him.
The top CW's would KO Mayweather i wouldn't find that impressive either. But if Mayweather dropped them it would be.
It's great to be big, but you've got to be able to impose the size. Of course skill, athletic ability and heart were among the determining factors. How about Fury's footspeed to close USS down and get his weight on him, how about his quick hands letting off combinations to Steve's body to help slow him down, how about the powers of recovery and heart he showed to get off the deck and systematically break a fast guy down?
Fury's footspeed? Really? He was only walking into punches and blocking shots with his heads and lumbering around. His foot speed wasn't great and neither was his footwork. He landed a few combos with quick hands which I give him credit for. He only had to show heart because he got smashed by a dude who had no business dropping him. Also it wasn't as if he was terribly hurt and had to show a huge heart, I still respect his gameness though.
My point is he only broke him down by mostly clubbing him with uneducated shots that just eventually took their toll on Cunningham, he didn't show any real skill or thought in doing so and that was the concern for me.
You're just deducting credit because you're a naturally undersized guy. Nothing wrong with being small, God love you, but don't deduct credit where it's due from bigger men.
This is genuinely one of the stupidest things anyone has ever said to me, almost everything entailed in it is retarded.
1. It implies Cunningham isn't bigger than me in the first place at 210lbs. Why wouldn't I be critisizing them both if it was due to them being bigger. You've said I only deduct credit from bigger men, I haven't insulted Cunningham and I've given him credit for his heart. This implies I'm bigger than him. Yet I'm "naturally undersized"?
2. It makes a hilarious assumption about my weight
3. If I was "naturally undersized" then there would be lots of people bigger than me, and I would be insulting everyone above FW (if that's naturally undersized by your definition)
4. "God love you" is stuck in there like you're some sort of preacher who can't help but fire God into every sentence.
Not to mention it completely undermines your entire argument. Both of your posts have been digs at me (albeit either uncreative or stupid :lol1:) so it's hard to take you seriously.

Just watched it. Very entertaining fight.
It's been a while since I enjoyed watching HW's.
I'm not sure Fury can learn to effectively fight behind his jab, it doesn't seem to be in him. He needs to be the aggressor, he got knocked down after he threw a lazy jab without doubling it up. I think he'd have lost a decision if he decided to box.
For a guy that tall, tough, he's pretty good on the inside.
He seems to have a natural ability at 'fighting dirty', too, look at the way he used his forearm to create space before the K.O. punch.
You just need to look at Peter Fury's twitter timeline, he was raging with Tyson's performance. He gave him 2/10, said he didn't put into practice what they had been working on for 2 months. That was obvious, he was going in for a fight but this is boxing. Once he calmed down a bit, got his hands up and got the jab going he knocked Cunningham out. Seems like Peter is the only person he will listen to.
The relevance of height and weight in the heavies is being way overemphasized.
Stop crying about 'fair'. Heavyweight is upward of 200lb. There's no 215 limit. If they share a division, it's fair. If a guy's big or heavy, it's up to his opponent to use his perceived disadvantages as advantages.
I wasn't trying to imply that Cunningham was wronged or whatever, I was just stating that Fury was clearly favoured to win only because of his size.
Of course it's still "fair", there's no rules broken and no-one was screwed going in. However the weight advantage was the only reason Fury won. The fight wasn't determined on skills or heart it was determined by mass and if you didn't see that then you need to stop watching boxing.
@TheWeeblerII
......a point well made about Peter Fury's absence from the big night in NYC.
Tyson reverted back to the red-mist, macho style of fighting that makes him hugely entertaining but also hugely vulnerable as well.
He was just too pumped-up and seemed to forget that Cunningham was a live opponent and would be particularly dangerous in the opening rounds.
Peter Fury, who really seems to have got Tyson in shape and has the strength of character to force his nephew to listen to him and box to orders, would have kept the lad far,far calmer in the last few hours before the fight and stopped the dangerous showboating, hands-low stuff.
Peter did not get a US Visa - presumably due to a few scapes in the past - and it was left to Clifton Mitchell to try and keep Tyson grounded.
A good win for Tyson; but he still needs to listen and learn and Peter Fury's very strong hand on the tiller is extremely important as well.
He was a bit more hoarse than usual, due to having just come out of a fight, but it was still beautiful.
Skip to 2:20 for a note-perfect rendition of 'Between The Lines':
^^ Bono Vox.
I honestly believe he's slightly retarded, he must have fell off the caravan roof as a kid.

 Like I said in the earlier thread, he is only 24. I'll give him some time.
As far as a bloke, I like him.
Fury is pure entertainment. He was lucky Cunningham didn't land that big right at the end of the first round when he was playing around, that would have made him look even more stupid.
I hope he keeps winning but in reality as soon as he meets a HW with power he is in serious trouble.
Last night was a case of Fury becoming irritated by Cunningham's movement and angles, being outjabbed by a midget etc and deciding to just march him down.
I think he decided to march him down before he even got into the ring. He was over-psyched, a young guy making his US debut. He really needed his trainer there to tell him to be wise. Fortunately, the KD managed to do that.
:haha: :haha:
Did I touch a nerve there?
Difference is, you're a fan of Fury and you truly believe in him. I regard both Price & Fury as good but limited boxers, I do not care for where their careers go. Is it really a good idea to use a picture like that after Fury just got dropped by a cruiserweight, who was actually leading at the time of the stoppage too.
You keep saying about Peter Fury and Fury's age, as if because he's young that it's a given he'll develop into something much greater. What about if Fury's ceiling has already been discovered? Think about how poor he looked pre-Uncle P, the controversial win over a slob like John McDermott and now he's beating gatekeepers - that's good progression.
thing is he revenged the john mcdermot issue
