Canelo proved tonight he is what we thought he is. A bigger stronger younger fresher Miguel Cotto.
Cotto gave Floyd arguably the hardest fight of his career, Canelo would push it over the edge and give Floyd his first loss in a close decision.
Canelo's main problem was with Trout's reach, vs Floyd it wouldn't be a problem, and while he would get tagged, he will be tagging Floyd as well.
Canelo has even worse stamina than Cotto (something that is almost impossible to do but Canelo did it)
Agree. I don't have high expectations about his upcoming fight. He'll start out the first round jabbing to Guerrero's body and pressing the attack early on on the outside. I expect him to walking Guerrero down in spurts, but he'll be spending more time fighting off the ropes throughout the whole fight. I hope he fights an orthodox fighter in September though. I want to see how he'd approach that fight to see if he can really use his legs. He won't need to use his legs against Guerrero, but he'll have to turn back the clock and use his legs if/when he plans on fighting Canelo.
Personally i don't think he will be on the ropes much at all. I reckon the plan is to move in the first 6 rds and slowly let the right hands to the body and body attack in general wear Gueereo down, then Floyd will walk Guerrero down and force him onto the back foot for the last 6 rds, where he will in all likelihood be ineffectual. It's amazing to me how many pro fighters have real problems fighting once they have to do so off the back foot.
A small difference wont matter, Trout had a huge advantage, which gave Canelo problems.
Canelo has greater reach than Cotto, which was enough to Jab with Floyd.
Canelo is also faster than Cotto was vs Floyd, which once again was fast enough to tag a diminishing Floyd.
Overall, Canelo is stylistically similar enough to Cotto to trouble Floyd, and he is young enough strong enough, and big enough to turn that into a loss for Floyd.
2-3 years ago Floyd would have been able to overcome the difference, but Floyd is aging quite fast.
All of the above is potentially true, but Canelo doesn't really jab that much.
Let's see how he fights Guerrero. The Floyd who fought Baldomir or Oscar at 54 would box circles around Canelo. That Floyd was still lightning quick on his feet.

Floyd's reach is still longer than Canelo's

Canelo is not ready for Floyd. He needs to gain more experience and improve a lot on his stamina. It was crazy on how exhausted he looked after throwing so few punches. If Trout had more in him, that fight could have been disastrous for Canelo.
I think he is. Floyd is getting old. Canelo isn't ready for the Floyd who fought JMM, SSM, ODLH, Hatton, but the one who fought Cotto he is ready for. It really depends on what Floyd shows us against Guerrero. If he shows more sings of age, get's hit too much and lays on the ropes too much you can be damn sure Canelo would be ready.

I really hope that I'm wrong, but I'll bet you that we will see Floyd fight off the ropes 90% of the time in each rounds against Guerrero. Canelo can cut the ring off effectively and throws his punches sharp and accurate enough with the intent of knocking out his opponents. The days of Floyd fighting off his back foot effectively are long gone. He's a stationary, back against the ropes type of fighter of as late and it will be that way until he retires. I think he can do better than Trout did tonight, but i don't think he can beat Canelo, not with the way he's been fighting as of late.
Let's see how he fights Guerrero. The Floyd who fought Baldomir or Oscar at 54 would box circles around Canelo. That Floyd was still lightning quick on his feet.
Canelo by late stoppage. Canelo weighed at 172lbs on fight night. Floyd would land enough eye-catching punches, but Canelo would overpower him and stop him in the late rounds against the ropes.
damn man. Thats 20 pounds on floyd's highest weights.
Exactly. Canelo would stop Floyd at this point. Especially since Floyd is more stationary. He's a small guy so his craftiness will only carry him so far. If they were the same size, I could see Floyd beating him like someone like Hopkins would. But the size difference, differential in power, and age will be big factors for Canelo to win. They'll be saying he's the best since Ali if he beats old Floyd. And BS will go crazy saying Floyd was overhyped or a bum.
The Floyd who fought Oscar at 54 would decision Canelo with absolute ease. The 36 year old less mobile Floyd who lays on the ropes too much, i'm not so sure.
The bold is so true....a guy who's been on yop for a decade will become trash overnight.
If Canelo beats Floyd it would be on size and youth....it's a shame Mayweather detractors on here are completely immature. They have been waiting for Floyd to lose any of his last 5 or so fights just so they can say things like:
"This proves Floyd's overrated and a ducker"
"Floyd is the result of matchmaking"
etc etc. When in reality when he loses it's going to be because of his age and the fact that he is slipping.
The only way Canelo would win is because of his huge size advantage. If they were both the same size then lets be real here... Floyd would destroy his ass.
Canelo desicions Mayweather, he might even drop him but it will be are a really though close fight for both of them on the other hand I still think that PAC knocks Floyd out, styles makes fights and PAC has the style to beat Floyd.
People are mad as hell here that Canelo showed the world he's the real deal. The Canelo era has just begun, deal with it.
No, he's not. Lara would outbox him. GGG and Sergio would knock him out. If Floyd's feet weren't stuck in cement as of late, I'd pick him to give Canelo a boxing lesson too. Canelo is a really good fighter, but he's nothing special.
i have floyd by decision...alvarez isn't busy enough his defense was good 2night but trouts hand speed and mayweathers no comparison...i like canelo but he'd have to make it tough for mayweather bell to bell..if u take a break in the middle of a round wit mayweather and play str8 defense he will pick u apart with his hand speed and find somewhere to land using faints
