This is the highest rating for a Donaire fight if you exclude the Arce fight since it benefited from the Pac replay. Road To Donaire-Rigondeaux must have helped. It's a good rating compared to other Donaire fights, but it's terrible for the $2,000,000 spent. (and no undercard)
I fear what the Martinez numbers will be next week. The fight is in Argentina so there's been practically zero American promotion, Murray is not known in America, and it's going up against Garcia-Judah.
Good post.

Cash cows? Come on that's below the average viewership for an HBO fight. They said they average 1.2 mil for free HBO fights. So they're below average at best.
because all those people purchased it for rigo lol......donaire vs arce got 1.3 million viewers btw...
Donaire Vs Arce was a week after Marquez vs Pacquiao 4, so they were giving the free replay on HBO.. that definitely helped..
his last fight did around 1.3 million viewers...1.1 million is a positive sign tho since donaire vs nishioka did around 850k i think..so rigo can help pull some numbers too.
Arce had Mexicos backing it wasn't a Donaire show like this time, thats the only reason it went that high other than that Donaire does not break 1 mil views regularly not to mention Not even Rigo's own promoter backs him and that this fight under cards where dog sh*t so it is more then a good sign because he got some very good exposure on the night he was the underdog he beat one of the top p4p fighters .
I know most of those belong to Donaire But Donaire never does numbers like that! Did we under estimate the knowledge of casual fans and their ability to apreciate a good match up? It Appears so and 12 fights being on a 1+ mil viewer fight lol not bad! Or has boxing gained more fans in recent years?

Purchased? It was free on HBO. Didn't Donaire do 800k vs WV2 or Mathebula?
Rigo the cash cow.

Smh that's not true. Donaires numbers aren't overwhelming but he usually pulls about 1 mil regularly

Lol, I'm a Rico fan but I assure u, the 1mil viewers had nothing to do with him. And chances are he wouldn't be able to pull that number off by himself. Just being honest.
Donaire has never been a big star a common misconception. This is good numbers for him no doubt
Yeah, if i'm not mistaken, his best was 1.3 and that was with Arce, then 1.2 with Montiel. He did 835k viewers with Nishioka. I don't remember Donaire-Mathebula/Vazquez Jr numbers being released, maybe some one like Phantom5 could get it. But if the #'s are not available that should tell you they were poor.
12 fights and 1M viewers.

I think it would've gotten more if not for the sub par undercards
