I fully understand that sometimes fighters re-hydrate 1-2 weight classes above the bouts division on the day of the fight. But Alvarado has yet to fight at 147.
Should he not do a Guerrero or a Ortiz and face a top guy at 147 before fighting Pacquiao? I would
Just looking at the thread title, i knew this was a Pac hate. The Pac-Alvarado is not even official yet and now Pac is being discredited for it. He hasn't even beaten Alvarado yet and still haters making excuses already.

Pacquiao went all the way up to 147 to fight Oscar, Shane Mosley bypassed 140 and went 147 from 135. Guerro after a long layoff skips 140 goes to 147 and fights one of the hardest punchers and was much bigger than him in Aydin.
140-147 against a shot Pacquiao who just got knocked out? Only a fool would want to fight anyone else. This is the best fight for Mike Alvarado he will make more money and he will add a legend to his resume if he knocks him out, even though Pacman is a shell of his former self its a good confidence booster for Mike.
it wasn't a mutual duck. I dunno why people keep saying these kinds of things. Fiddy straight up said Floyd ducked pac.
Because 50 cent is the source of reputable information. Floyd agreed to 4-5 demands, and said I want OST.... Pac could have said "Yeah sure let's do this" he didn't. Nothing in the world changes it... it was a mutual duck.
So you don't value p4p at all? If I said Canelo is number 1 p4p you wouldn't say how stupid? People value it more than they think.
I really don't it is a fun topic, but the fact of the matter is Manny is on there for reputation not his current level. You have to look at any of those lists and ask the question why is that guy there?
Without context such a list is less than meaningless~
Oh and if someone truly believe Canelo is the best fighter so be it, their choice I don't have to agree or like it.
I've said it before, the only reason I can get behind this fight is because pac lost two of his last three. It's a decent tune-up/test of the waters for where pac is at. Alvarado is made to be massacred by pac, the question is....is it the same pac. That's the selling point, though I feel Pac won't have lost enough to lose. Pac struggles with top notch boxers, alvarado is not one of those...if he loses Pac is probably done tbh.

1st of all Ortiz & Guerrero=Golden Boy Promotions. Mike Alvarado=Top Rank. ='s no fight.
2nd if anyone advises Alvarado to take any other fight except the Pacquiao fight they should be fired. Pacquiao opponents make typically around $5 million. Take the money and take the fight.
This guy weighs that and the other guy is rated by espn's janitor ................who gives a rap!! Take the money, train your ass off and go to win!! Weight means nothing in this matchup, Pacman doesn't fight inside and he doesn't brawl he jumps in and out with speed!!
People are so hung up on weights! Get rid of these "junior weight classsses" and be done with it. If your at 143 your a welter, thats it! All title fights weigh in the DAY OF the fight. That'll take care of the stupid starvation BS!!!
No juniors, weighin the day of and thats how it should be done!!!
If someone rehydrates 25 pounds the day of the fight their getting their butts kicked by their own bodies!!! Ray.
So this is about Pacman cherrypicking Alvarado, eh?
Pacman attempted to cherrypick Floyd da best several times and Floyd da best kept ducking. Man stop this nonsense. Tell your hero to man up and fight so you don't have to start these silly threads.
Alvarado is good enough for a comeback fight to see if Manny still has it, Manny is not that big of a guy either so why get twisted about that.
If Manny was still on top or where he was I could see bringing this up but times have changed~
Most boxing fans or the loyal manny fan base are dismissing Alvardo as an legitmite/threat of an oppenent right of the get go which I think is misguided. However, I think Alvardo will give manny a competeive and determined fight, and this fight might be alot more interesting then alot of people think. People forget Alvardo entered the sport of boxing at a late age and his craft/skills are still improving/developing. He is a puncher that has power and is a better boxer then he is being credited with. He has athletisim, movement, and solid jab, not to mention he has pretty good timing in exchanges. I think coming up in weight actually might be to his advantage, he has the frame to put on more strength and power and wont have to cut weight really, and not mention he has a good chin. In the end Manny's speed and movement might be the difference is he boxes a smart and technical fight and utilizes his jab/angles effectively. But I really believe Alvarado could defeat him, as he can counter punch in addition.
LMAO!!!!
Most people would consider this pretty dry. Excuses excuses.
http://cdn0.sbnation.com/uploads/chorus_image/image/4614075/157928790.0_standard_709.0.jpgYou can tell by looking at a picture if the guy dryed out? Boy, you're good. Since he has been fighting at welterweight Pacquiao never gains more than a few pounds between the weigh in and the fight night weigh in on HBO. Since I believe HBO weighs them right before the fight they are not stripped down. When you take away the weight of shoes, trunks, foul protector and gloves Pacquiao gains almost no weigh at all so how can he be rehydrating? How the hell am I making excuses for Pacquiao when his only real recent loss was to Marquez who is also a lightweight and I didn't say a damn thing about that fight? Let me clear that up for you. I think Pacquiao was in perfect shape for Marquez. There is no real size difference between Marquez and Pacquiao and if either man is naturally bigger it's Pacquiao. Marquez KOed him and I have no excuses what so ever for Pacquiao's lose to Marquez. I am a big fan of both fighters.
He is probably bigger than Pacquiao who is just a big lightweight that doesn't dry out and then rehydrate anymore. He will probably outweigh Pacquiao on fight night. I can't see how one fight at welterweight would help him in any way. Even 5 fights at welterweight won't change the outcome of this fight which I believe will be a KO win for Pacquiao. He should just train hard and come in at whatever weight he feels best at.

I'm sure Bob arum wouldn't want him to. They are looking for a for sure victory, not a tough fight.

Rigo took the nonito fight even though TR offered more money not to take it so not everything or everyone is ruled by money.
Anyway like i have stated before once the TR spin gets going Alvarado will be an ATG.

Alvarado needs to rest and let his face heal from that bar fight. He had a couple of months back he just fought Rios and win a very tough fight. No way he takes a tune up fight right now and blows his chances at a Pac fight in October.
Is this fight actually goin down? But to answer the question, wen mike fought king carlos Molina, they fought at 147 and I think that he fought at that weight a few times before and after the Molina fight
of course alvarado would accept the pac fight because of the money.. you have to be an idiot not to see that...but alvarado is not going to be disadvantaged by moving up to 147 either considering he is a big jr ww to begin with...also consider the fact that pac got KTFO in his last fight and so odds are he might come back as a shadow of his former self (i.e. more gun shy, chinny, etc.)..when you consider that then not only are you getting ur best payday, but there is a possibility that you could beat a legend. don't let me think for you...
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I see now.
