If Bob is finding it "Hard to promote" Rigo, then he should let him out of his contract.
If you can't do your job "Promote" this guy, then let somebody else do it for him.
Rigo is real talent, and the man needs to be seen. If Bob can't/doesn't want to do it, then he should let him go.
I'd hate to see Rigo shelved, the guy is already 32 and I'd like to see more
As if Rigondeaux wouldn't get picked up if he is released...Your ****ing stupid if you think GBP wouldn't snatch him up and match him up with Mares and Santa Cruz, regardless if people think he would destroy both of them, anything can happen in that ring so you cannot avoid the guy out of fear
LOL if I am a fan of any fighter in and around his Division then yeah you better hope he gets released because your favorite fighter at 118-126 lbs don't have a fukin chance against Rigondeaux and you know that so you want him to just go away because he is ruining things for you lol
Good Luck With That! All Arum gotta do is find some aggressive fighters that will push the action and let Rigondeaux counter them and knock them out, he wasn't boring against Willie Casey, Rico Ramos or Teon Kennedy...Donaire was hesitant after tasting that left hand a few times, I seen him back out in the very 1st Round after Rigondeaux landed a straight Left Donaire shut down out of fear of getting countered
Arum is just keeping it 100. Part of professional boxing is entertainment. If he wants to be technically sound and get W's, go be an amateur.
But if your going to ask people to sell out Radio City Music hall then you better bring something to the table entertainment wise, otherwise you'll get booed while also getting a unanimous decision like last night.
I wouldn't go that far.
GBP and Haymon aren't doing much with Erislandy Lara.
Yeah everyone seems to overlook the fact that Lara is represented by al haymon and place all the blame on gbp for not getting him fights they're both to blame. As far as rigo goes he's in a tough spot but if he does jump ship to gbp, what other fights are available? Mares? Santa Cruz? Moreno?
If GBP offers up cash for Rigos services Arum should take it and run. A guy like Mares against Rigo makes an entertaining fight. But I would have to fancy Rigo in that fight. Mares is too small and I dont think he could dry hump Rigos leg all the way to a decision.
I agree with what Bob is doing.
Light a fire under Rigo's ass to be more offensive and have that killer instinct.
I thought he could've finished Donaire last night if he hadn't admired his work after landing a solid counterpunch.
Both HBO and Showtime will pay for Rigondeaux fights because he is one of the most skilled boxers in the world. If Arum puts him in the ring against quality opponents (and I don't mean the kind of crappy opponents that Donaire has been fighting lately) the networks will buy the fights and real boxing fans (not the MMA pseudo fans) will watch his fights because we can appreciate a good skilled boxer. This win elevates Rigondeaux to superstar status and real boxing fans will watch him.
Attendance figures don't matter and if you don't believe that, look at Donaire's attendance figures for his last five fights.
GBP and Mayweather negotiated with Rigondeaux before he signed his new contract with Top Rank. They obviously didn't offer him what he needed.
i think he knew he wouldnt be able to fight donaire if he signed with them
Styles like Rigo's are hard to sell to the casual fans.
I think Rigo is in the best situation he could possibly be. He has gotten a lot of HBO fights, which is more significant than being on a Showtime fight.
As long as he gets those HBO fights, he'll be making money and getting adequate exposure.I dont disagree, I'm just sick of Bobs snake azz. I've never seen a promoter downgrade fighters like him, fighters he's paid to promote.
He's selling this "Stand and trade" shyt as boxing, while saying "boxing" is boring?
He'll feed his favorite fighters these washed up, flatfooted rejects, and hype them as the next coming of SRR. But the guys like Rigo he disses?
I'm just sick of the decline in real boxing these days
