Iole who comically had Rigo winning 114-113, pretty much called Rigo a loser despite his greatest win. Perhaps he feels hurt that Top Rank took a hit with their emerging star losing. Even Ronnie Nathainelsz showed more class with his post-fight report. If you can't appreciate what Rigo did than you can't accept a Pernell Whitaker.
The fight was dull at times, but it didn't amount to Rigo being reduced to a loser as Iole claims.

Here is Iole's score card for a good chuckle... he gave Donaire rounds 2,4,5,7... Yes... he had Donaire winning the fight after 7 rounds... I mean seriously... how delusional can you be?

Donaire was their favourite and the reason the fight was on HBO. It makes sense the media would be extremely biased toward the Filipino. Dumdedumdedum
Then how come the media on the ringside has Pac winning against JM Marquez on their 3rd fight? Pac is HBO's favorite then the media should show favoritism to Pac. I am not saying JMM won, it was a close fight.
There were a couple of rounds where Rigo ran too much for my liking. Other than that it was a boxing lesson.
Donaire deserves much more blame for not being able to adapt. He could have smothered Rigo's punches and made it into more of a fight, but he has no inside game at all. There were points in the fight where Rigo really wasn't throwing much back yet Donaire still chased him around and rarely tried to engage.
Lampley commented on the reportes/media on the ringside concerning the scorecards during the fight. He said something that the media said that the fight is closer than what the actual HBO/Lederman scorecards.

And THAT attitude kills the sport. You summed it up nicely. Those dumb ****s just aren't smart enough to get it right? Off to WWf or UFC With them!!! Boxing doesn't need fans right?
It's ridiculously arrogant and self-serving to think the reason people didn't enjoy the fight is because they aren't as smart as you are.
But that's boxingscene for you.
How in the hell did Iole and Rafael give Donarie 5 rounds? Seriously? Then again, Fat Dan is the one who though Alexander legitimately beat Matthysse. 116-111 for Rigo all three times I've watched. Everyone keeps saying Rigo just kept moving and not punching, Donaire didn't punch very much either and he barely landed. When Rigo hit, it was clear to the back row of the arena. Rigo clearly won this fight, embarrassed a P4P fighter, and the amount of disrespect he is getting off a win hardly anybody picked him to win is WRONG.
I don't agree with his score, in fact I think it's outlandish, as I had Rigo winning 10 rounds, but I certainly agree with the sentiments of the article. Rigondeuax just beat one of the best fighters in the world and he did so with ease. He should be a superstar, about to make millions of dollars and the world in front of him.
He is not. He'll never make as much as money again as he did on Saturday and the TV companies will be in no hurry to put him back on air, certainly not as a headliner. That's without mentioning the 6,000 people who were there who are unlikely to pay to see him. Actually there were probably 1.2m watching and very, very few of them will be willing to part with cash to watch him. And who the hell would want to fight him, now?
Shit, even Rigo's promoter concedes all of this. The guy who makes money of the success of his fighter is openly saying all of this. Rigondeaux hurt himself badly on Saturday and without a fanbase, he could be fucked, but we will see.

Not the same......
BTW he's already trying to dismiss the China TV ratings without citing an actual source. Iole is trying to tell us that he has unlimited access to China's TV ratings even though every media journalist on the planet has been falling over each other trying to get their hands on them?
Obviously Arum wouldn't give him his expected tip to say something nice. Think of the amount of news we take for granted from Iole, I don't know why anybody trusts him. He's clearly been shown up as a UFC stooge at this stage.
The fight needed Donaire to be on top of his game, in top condition and ready to be agressive throughout the fight!! He didn't do it and its not because of Rigo!! Donaire was flat and uninspired and then when he realized he needed to be 100% against a well schooled boxer it was to late!!!
You need to understand that the fight could only be successfull if Donaire brought it!! Rigo is not going to take chances and will run away literially at times to avoid confrontation and thats why he won't ever be a fan favorite!
He doesn't need to be super agressive but he needs to take the center of the ring more often and use his hand speed to control his opponent and use his foot speed less! Great boxer who won't mix it up don't get the big pay outs. Mayweather is much more active with his hands and he gets critized for lack of offense!!! I think Rigo could do more but he is set in his ways thats why trainers have come & gone!!! They know he could only go so far with his style as far as pay outs!!! Why waste your time with a high skilled boxer who refuses to accept the challenge to mix it up more often than he does!! Ray.
Cool, cool....look at Donaire's face today and look at Rigo's face. Rigo wasn't the one making up excuses post-fight, it was Donaire and he couldn't even say it with a straight face. Rigo threw less, landed more, and came pretty close to stopping Donaire at one point.
These phags don't know shizz about the sweet science, they just know making money and TV ratings. Let Iole get in there with Rigo, lace up a pair of gloves and say that stuff to the man's face.
Yeah I read that garbage of an article last night.
Iole doesn't know donkey shit about boxing and it infuriates me he's the lead guy at yahoo that covers boxing. This is the same guy who a few years ago was practically declaring boxing as a dead sport and claiming MMA had taken over. The guy makes me sick, and I'm glad I'm not alone in this regard, just look at the comments on his own articles where people are ripping him.
This fight was like a fight between a mongoose vs a cobra. Donaire being the cobra and trying to land one kill shot cause he was afraid of putting punches in bunches. If anybody deserves the blame for the fight not having enough fireworks it's Donaire because he really didn't do squat. He felt Rigo's power and decided to play it safe. The 12th round was embarassing for Donaire, he got a blue eye, but from the way he acted it seemed like his eye was torn out. The fight was slightly boring, I can't call it exciting, but it was mostly on Nonito. Having said that this fight just can't compare by some of the hug gest put on by BHOP, Ward and Floyd. Rigo doesn't fight negative by clinching and holding or running for survival aka Andre Dirrell.
Hopefully Dan Rafael and Kevin Iole can read.
Actually they don't know what they were watching that's why they were booing.
It's like having a bunch of hard rock fans at a classical music concert.
I agree with most of your posts, but differ with this analogy. I can listen to Sabbath, Rush, Maiden and also am a huge fan of Bach, Wagner, Beethoven, and Mozart. In fact, i will be seeing Wagner's Ring Cycle soon and paid for that instead of seeing Rigo-Donaire. Also had to pay the IRS a major tax bill this year.
A good analogy is people who prefer a slugfest over a pitcher's duel.
