That he probably won't have success when it comes selling fights. Just because of his style. I enjoyed a lot the beautiful display he put on. But casual fans don't appreciate this. They want brawlers and fireworks and knockdowns and blood.
You won't get any of that with Rigo. Every hardcore boxing fan knows he is a master boxer who won't risk much and won't engage much. He doesn't waste punches , he doesn't waste any energy and he won't risk anything for the fans.
All of this will hurt his marketability. When you can't attract fans , you can't get the big bucks ,and when you can't get the big bucks people won't go after you.
I saw the fight yesterday with my neighbors which are Cuban , and some of them didn't even know it was Rigobdeaux fighting , they thought it was Gamboa. It wasn't a party but it was pretty loud. Ricans and Cubans are loud , and by the time it was over there were people asleep. My girl loves boxing and she coudlnt even watch.
Rigid style won't be appreciated by casual fans and I believe he wont get the type of treatment he deserves and he won't be a big draw because of his style.
Kind of sucks.......
I actually picked Donaire to beat Rigo because he was the proven fighter, but rigo completely out boxed donaire, broke his orbital bone, and Nonito was running in the 12th round. ( someone needs to post that gif).
Arum was quick to criticise Rigo after he beat donaire for not throwing enough punches but he said nothing about donaire being on his bike in the 12th even though donaire was losing the fight.
It's a business. Filipino flash brings more money. The country which visits boxingscene the third most is Philippines.
Arum said he thought Rigo only won by 1 point. That fight was a clear win for Rigo by a wide margin.
it doesn't suck... its his fault. If he wants to gain attention and make money he needs to entertain which he doesnt. The guy barley throws any punches and takes no risks
I agree that it's Rigo's choice if he wants to entertain or not. But if he hardly throws punches and takes no risks, how come he's undefeated? How come he has eight KOs in thirteen fights? How come only two men have avoided being knocked down by him? If he's running and barely throwing punches, someone ought to be outpointing him, no?
In the biggest fight of "El Chacal's" career, he stood in the pocket and exchanged with a murderous puncher, a consensus top-five P4P champion. He won easily. Easily.

**** what Rigo's haters have to say really, at the end of the day he will stay fighting, keep on winning and that's that. Rigo doesn't have to change his style or his personality so other people can like him, just keep on doing what your doing rigo and win or lose, you have done tremendous things for the sport of boxing.
Nobody hates Rigo. What's this crazy idea that people hate him.
It's all business. That's the most ****ed up part. That this is how it is.
BUMP
I told ya'll so.....
lmao you're a genius. It's not like the writing has been all over the wall HBO wants no part of him regardless. :peeright: Not at all.

I don't care if he sells or not. He has set his legacy and put on a great performance while representing Cuban boxing along with a Cuban trainer.

Not putting down Rigo but if you say that his legacy is set by beating Donaire, then its a short history on legacy.
I hate the pretentiousness of boxing fans. Rigo is obviously a great fighter, but it was just a boring fight to watch for most. That doesn't make anyone less of a boxing fan because they weren't entertained by it.
Sickening isnt it? Its also funny because its like these arseholes think its cool to be a freakin anorak!! The sickening bit is how disingenuous it is because it seems to be that most of these nobbers, and my god there has been tons since last night, are just talking complete bollocks....the kind of crap that threw up the mythical(non-existent) creature that is the 'pure boxer' and P4P as an actual title rather than its genuine meaning as a hypothetical concept!:nonono:
And for this exact reason is why I hate casual fans. If you can't appreciate boxing skill, ring generalship, control of distance etc. then maybe you'd be better of watching Brock Lesner and some other douche stand in front of each other and beat the living **** out of each other for 10 minutes
I thought the fight was great, boxing 101, watched it 3 times already.
Anyways, in regards to casual fans, well it's not always how "exciting" they are inside the ring, it's how the fight is promoted. He's got a great life story and if he learns to speak some English he could increase his marketability. I think he'd be a big draw in Florida.
I don't care how much the casual fan or the uneducated brawl lovers don't like Rigo winning, that performance was some of the best I've ever seen and I loved all 12 rounds of it. And I'm going to watch it like 5 more times this week, maybe more.
You must be great fun at parties.
i don't care how much you like boxing, if you're in the back row of a rigo fight it's not a great spectator sport. you can't appreciate what he does from the back row, especially considering his size. you can appreciate a HW throwing huge punches from any seat in the house.
What the **** were yall watching.......for real....
How was that fight boring?
Have you not watched boxing recently?
There were bombs, knockdowns, slips, boxing......this fight literally had everything...
Rigo is a pro.....a real PRO! Why would he go in trading bombs for no reason? This is boxing not fighting...The man has the discipline to hold back when instinct says go bang.
But than again......I'm a Klitschko fan so WTF do I know right??...
The only rounds I genuinly feel were "boring" were like 7-9. Those rounds neither fighter threw much. However, all the other rounds, although not action packed had every landed be a NUCLEAR BOMB. Which made it fun to watch.
