This wasn't a good weekend for Asian boxing. Donaire lost, Yordan stopped, and CJ retained his title via a disappointing 3rd round TD. Glad I decided not to watch the CJ fight live.
1. Donaire says he had trouble making weight, this should be a good option if he decides to move up.
2. Donaire has had a rough schedule since 2011, he deserves a break. CJ is a very good fighter but a victory for Nonito is more likely.
3. Like I said, CJ is a very good fighter. He's currently 48-0. He may not be an elite fighter but taking his 0 and breaking his streak should look good for Donaire's resume.
4. Donaire just recently lost, it could mean that CJ, who usually wouldn't take this kind of fight might think otherwise. I'm a fan of the Dragon but I'm just being real, no disrespect.
These guys are 2 of my favorite active fighters. CJ has a solid chin, fast hands and is always exciting. Donaire with his speed and power is never in a dull fight. I hope this fight gets made and hopefully in Jakarta so I could afford to watch this all SEA superfight lol :boxing:
That would be a great card for Macau.
I think that might happen later this year against somebody for Mikey's vacant belt (if he moves up for Rocky) or Chris John.
John would bring a big crowd.... might not be a big draw here, but huge in Asia.
Also Shiming and the ALA stable could help make another event
I like this. It's time for Chris John to make some kind of move an take on an elite fighter. Put it in Macau and make a financial offer to him that he can't refuse.
It's actually a great idea for Donaire. Not sure the chances of John actually taking the fight though.
John will take it, but it'll probably be in Indonesia.
Actually.... Arum might try to make a Macau event with Shiming on it... Donaire will be sidelined for a while though because of his Son... so he'll probably be available to fight again in mid/late fall
I like this fight and I think it be a good way to make up for donates most recent loss. I just don't want to see John with that tittle anymore. So arum make it happen. Maybe for the next event in macau
It's actually a great idea for Donaire. Not sure the chances of John actually taking the fight though.
if the money is good i think he'll accept it...and the fight can take place in singapore or macau..
it's a good first fight at 126 and an opportunity to end chris john's mediocre title reign ...after donaire beats chris john then he can try and go after the mares vs de leon winner.
