Rigo showed it all yesterday. He showed respectable power, speed, a jab, great defense, parrying with punches, a chin...and ring generalship. Rigo clearly won the fight. I reserved the right to judge him on his inexperience, but he looked like the experienced fighter last night.
I don't think Donaire was ready for a fight like this. I think he had too much stuff on his mind outside of the fight along with no right hand which was the difference in the fight. Side note: Andre Ward and Donaire have similar styles, and imo both don't have natural right hands which is why I was not totally, totally sold on them like I am with Broner, but I figured their heart would take them far. You need more than heart and a hook in this game. Donaire has met his Rigo, Ward hasn't yet. I thought Donaire would catch Rigo. Boy was I wrong.
Rigo said that you can't win a fight with one punch, and he was right. Props to Rigo. I was a definite critic of his, but he proved himself to me in this fight. Donaire should've kept the pressure on from round 1, but I think he felt Rigo's power early, and found out that he couldn't just walk in on Rigo.
Donaire showed one hell of a chin, but the night belongs to Rigo. Rigo just about shut Donaire out in my book outside of the knocked down.
I honestly thought this was a 50/50 fight going in but i am now officially a Rigotard. Rigo not only beat what many before this fight considered a top 5 fighter but also had him shook the entire fight. You could see halfway through the first few rounds Nonito looked like a deer in head lights.
I don't think anyone expected what they saw last night. Not even Rigo's fans!
Sure didn't! I was expecting a 12-0 shut out. :lol1:
All jokes aside, most of us were set right down the middle and expected a much closer fight than what we saw. Man I've been reading some articles out in the web and they're so focused on justifying Nonito's loss as opposed to giving a great champion like Rigondeaux proper respect. It's very appalling.
What Rigo did was truly spectacular. I've never seen a performance of that type anywhere ever. The sharpness of his counterpunching was absurd. Donaire had to have been in disbelief. I know I was.
Anyone who says Rigo ran or Rigo bored us doesn't know boxing. Rigo went in and was calm, cool and collective.
I'm a fan. I'm convinced, but I always need more. I'd love to see a rematch, or a fight with Mares.
Rematch, why? Rigondeaux will just break his jaw next time, Donaire probably was 10 pounds heavier than GR and still got his A$$ handed to him, he ain't going to be fastest than Guillermo and he knows he can get KOTFO, the first left that GR landed on ND was the one that dictated the rest of the fight, he got hurt in the first round and that made him tentative, to top it off he got hurt in the last round like never before...
Even if you Rigo fans thought Rigo would win, you didn't think it would happen like that, and none of you new Rigo was that good last night. You knew something about Rigo, and you rooted for him, but you were scared for him until round 1 was over lol...
No we not, we being following Rigondeaux since he won a Gold Medal with barely 19 years old, he is beating guys twice as powerful and fastest than Donaire one that comes to mind is Gamboa, the kid is just that good...
lol I was also wrong. I thought Donaire would beat the dog **** out of him, but almost every round Rigo made him look terrible. I thought Donaire would have a better gameplan than "plod forward and spam left hooks" or maybe Rigo just took away his plan
But credit to Rigo for outclassing the best little man. :)Good post. Too bad Rigo is 32. His window is closing fast.

Great prediction Hugh :)
lol @ expected.
If Donaire would have won or KO'd Rigo, you would be the first to hide under a rock.
It's easy to make bold predictions, without any substance, which is what most posters on this site do.
For all you guys who "expected" or "knew" this would happen, I sure as hell would like to see some post, pre-fight, explaining how Rigo would beat or dominate Donaire.
Donaire will decapitate Rigo........Rigo wins I hide under a rock, or if Donaire wins, look at me I'm a genius and I knew it would happen.
Rigo will dominate Donaire......Donaire wins I disappear for a while vs Rigo winning only for me to turn around and tell poster I knew this would happen.
See how easy that was? Also notice how neither statement showed any knowledge of the sport explaining why I felt that would happen.

expect a few pics sent your way!!
Yup, I was predicting Rigo to outbox him.. But not in this manner. :lol1: Made him look like a teenage sparring partner against a seasoned veteran. Never thought Donaire was all that people were hyping him up to be, only chance I gave him to win this fight was him landing that devastating left hook.. Much respect to Rigo.Good post.

Rigo getting some strong hate. I expected him to get KOed, I thought the difference in pro experience would lead to an easy night for donaire. Rigo proved me wrong and he deserves his due. Shutting out Donaire in your 13th pro fight is a huge deal. Rigo is getting the same hate floyd did, when your skill is that great they cannot insult it they just say he was boring blah blah blah.Good post. I was shocked at how donaire couldn't hit Rigo. Rigo always had good offense. Nobody doubted that. It was Rigo's defense that shocked me. Donaire could hit him if he had 4 arms.

Green K. I wish we had more posters like that rather than them being blatantly bitter lol
''Oh he ran like a b1tch''
If Nonito had of somehow pulled it off, I'd of gave him massive props because I feel I've knew for some time just how good Rigo is. I really could not see how Rigo was not a stylistic nightmare for this guy.Anyone who says Rigo ran or Rigo bored us doesn't know boxing. Rigo went in and was calm, cool and collective.

I just quoted you several from me. Eat your crow and accept that we know more than you do about boxing.Lmmfao...! I knew somebody had to come out of their face with this kind of mess. You'll scream this right up until he loses.
And for the record: You could have an encyclopedia of boxing knowledge sitting right in front of you, and you'll never know half the ish I know about this sport tard.
Rigo damn sure impressed me. I don't see anyone beating him around those weight classes.
The guy is too good. His style is damn near impossible to solve. If there was one fighter that could've beat Rigo, it was Donaire, and we all saw how that worked out.
Good Lord the guy is a master in the ring.
