Pacquiao may have had speed and power, but Rigondaux has speed and power, good defence and the technical ability to pick Pacquiao off with counter punches. Pacquiaos own trainer said Rigondaux is the only fighter he was never able to land on when trying to show him weaknesses after landing combos on the mitts.
Roach was 50 yrs old! Of course he cant find Rigo. Pac at 122 was in his fastest before he turned 24. Pac average 50-100 punches a round. Donaire lost coz he fought a counter puncher by counter punching!
Pac will not fight like that! Pac will hunt & Look for Ko all night relentlessly. That Pac's Ko of Sasakul was a good example! Pac was 19 yrs old & very raw & this was at 112. Sasakul was in his prime & defended the title many times. But still Pac relentlessness catch up to him! Rigo's chin was soft, lefty vs lefty, totally different. Pac Koed all his opponent at 122, except the Low hitting draw vs sanchez! 3 KDs in 12 fights? Rigo will surely be Koed! Pac both Ko Donaire & Rigo at 122.
Rigo has supreme skill, but I'll have to see him in against someone who has a lot better legs and activity than Donaire before I can say he'd have the stuff to beat Pacquiao.

Roger Mayweather couldn't even keep up with him on the mitts.
And Pacquaio went on to stop him in 10th round and kept his belt
Donaire knocked rigondeaux down too
The KD was kind of lucky, Rigondeaux obviously thought the ref was going to step in to break the clinch before Donaire broke free and landed the left.

Pacquiao at 122 is a different monster than Donaire
The more you try to box, the higher he turns it up. He always forced you to fight his fight, and his fight is a war. If you can't go to war, you can't beat Pacquiao.
Which is the most ignored aspect of how Morales and Marquez did so well against Pacquiao when he was at his best. They didn't just outbox him while Pac watched clueless. They fought and pushed Pac back when they had to. You were forced to fight against that Pacquiao, and if you couldn't, you lost.
Rigondeaux might be capable of outfighting Pac when he has to. He may win. But he would not do so easily.
Pacquiao fights nothing like Donaire, so what are you using to draw your conclusions from?
MOst people cite manny's inability to cut off the ring when he is in with an opponent that moves constantly and counterpunches. He looked bad in beating shane and in each of the JMM fights he complained about "foot stomping" etc.
This fighter fights like Rigo. He is a boxer who moves a lot. He was a Thailand boxing hero, WBC champ and Lineal champ.
See what I'm trying to say? This guy was giving Pac a boxing lesson and was boxing his ears off. Watch the full video and guess what happened? My point is..Pac proved he can beat a boxer/runner while Rigo's one good win against fellow boxer/mover did not.
Now show me a video of Rigo beating a fighter like Pac with the same attributes not those tomato cans.
Obviously its hard to tell from this because i havent got the early rounds to judge but from what can see this fella has nowhere near the speed and power of Rigo.
He would even ran faster than he did with Donaire. It would be twice boring.
:unitedsta
This...LMAO! I guess he'll break Usain Bolt's record by a full second.

Aside from the KO, I guess Pac's chin broke the Thai Champs fist. Damn Manny kept coming forward looking to land while eating tons of punches lol!
Floydiot watch the video above and tell me how Rigo will handle Pacs power and speed. He doesn't need a skill to send Rigo back to Cuba.
Same way he handled donaires power and speed.
Pac at 122 is an entirely different fighter than Donaire. Nothing about last night gives a clue towards a potential Pac-Rigo fight.
I'd pick Pac to stop Rigo. He was a crazy animal back then, Rigondeaux would have to land some huge shots that stopped Pac in his tracks. Don't see it happening.
Pacquiao was outboxed by Morales around that time. He still lacked refinement and was very one dimensional
I don't consider Moreno a counter puncher. And what counterpuncher did Froch fight that he had success against?
Even in losing, he threw as much as always against Ward and had him sucking wind in the last two rounds. Bute was the favored knockout artist counter puncher, and Froch smoked him.
Moreno is definitely a counter puncher. He just doesn't have power.
i believe pac threw fewer punches vs JMM than any oher ww opponent. i thin k you found some good fights but i think they are the exception and not the rule.
agree with you, you gotta have atg will
castillo-mayweather, calzaghe-hopkins, mares-moreno, diaz/pacquiao-marquez
not at the counter-punchers pace, plenty of punches
dont rate/consider vlad as a counter-puncher
