So even if Matthysse wins he gets no IBF Title and Peterson gets to hold on to his belt once again although that means Lucas would still be Garcia's mandatory but i'm sure he'll drop the belt before unifying with him. Golden Boy is so god damn transparent with their corruption.
P.S. Before some dumbass brings its up Lucas weighed 153lbs against Dallas not the 163 that Showtime listed him as. This has already been addressed.
Who says this was Peterson's idea? This clearly benefits Matthysse. Either way he's getting a title or a shot at Garcia. He benefits pretty well from this so let's not act like this is some corruption by GBP.
If he beats Peterson, he is still Garcia's mandatory. It would add more pressure for Garcia to fight him and ensure a title spot. If Garcia decides to pursue another belt, he'll still end up with a belt that he would win if he'd beat Peterson.
If he loses, which is very well possible, he still gets a shot at Garcia because he would be the mandatory. If Garcia wants to fight Peterson, he'll have to vacate and Matthysse gets a belt.
Here's wats gonna happen. After the peterson fight, Danny Garcia is gonna vacate the WBC belt cause he has to. Matthysse as the interim champion will then fight the number 2 contender for the vacant wbc belt. That way GP will have 3 champions at 140.
It's bull**** and super shady.
Don't shoot the messenger
So we're supposed to believe some dude who's recording his windshield? Yea... no. Ill wait for the WBC or GBP to come out with the official statement.
What's funny is people still actually believe that. They try to push their "he on PEDs" agenda when they bring it up too.
Lol they always bring that sh*t up. Even after the commission took the pills and tested them themselves.
IBF is the one who let Peterson keep their belt when he admitted he had testosterone pellets BEFORE he fought Amir Khan. I don't trust their credibility anymore, especially when it concerns Lamont.
Goes both ways. People on here are no more credible than that guy in the video or the IBF. It's all speculation. We don't know which side wanted this or why. And we won't know unless a reporter presses GBP, the WBC and the IBF for answers.
Oh, he went there.
Oh dear.
Am I wrong? The idea of a unification fight is to have one of the boxers win all the belts.
What's in it for the promoters if the boxer has to give one of the belts up so that a competitor can pick it up?

Won't say that belts don't have their purpose, but as others have stated, the most important thing is that the fight actually takes place. One pound isn't gonna make much of a difference.
Matthysse screwed himself. He had to agree to the 141 catchweight, no one forced him to do it. He must have agreed because there's something else in store for him. Or else he could have turned it down and fought at 140 for the IBF title.
Who was it addressed by? Because Lucas himself said it, it must be true? No one gives a damn when Floyd denies being the exaggerated 160lbs on fight night, and claims to be 150lbs instead.
Either he took it or he wasn't going to get a fight. What choice would you make? :lol1: Same shit when people get on Manny. No one forced them either, but they weren't going to get the fight without conceding on the CW.
"oh belts dont matter but i wanna call gbp out on their ****." big whoop. they all do shady ****. its frikkin boxing. arum is the worse of the lot. but schafer is not much better. they are there to make money. the point here is we are getting great fights. so who really ****ing cares????
I don't get it man. If the tournament goes through as planned there will be one recognized champ at 140 demoting all of the other "champions" to paper status.
If the fights weren't happening, then by all means ***** and complain but there really is no need to at this point.
might be more of a Promotion Stategy so that the Loser of the fight GBP will still be able to market them as Champions...I really don't matter to me as long as they fight IT DON'T MATTER!

Swap Lucas and Lamont for Donaire and Rigo, GBP for Arum, SHO for HBO, and make the fight at 123 pounds.....and let's see if Dempsey Rollin, Shoulder Roll, Kev et all would be so philosophical about it. These guys would be calling Arum the devil.
I don't hold stocks in belts either but you can't just shrug your shoulders when something so blatantly shady is being done in front of your eyes.
I mean, a catchweight at 141. Lol.
oh please. get outta here with that ****. promotional companies arent the issue here. u want so hard to try to make a point that isnt there. stop being a little *****. either belts matter or they dont u want so hard to go against me but u are sitting there saying the exact thing i am. stop being petty and pathetic. lift your skirt and stop dick riding promotional companies.
Just the integrity of the sport (I know, what integrity?)
I look forward to hearing Schaefer blame this on HBO and Arum.
GBP is doing something good for the fans by having unification fights. But because of the WBC there is the potential that one of the belts will be left vacant and that one of Arum's fighters will be in a position to swoop in and pick it up.
Since Arum generally refuses to make matchups with GBP's champions why would GBP give him the chance to pick up one of the belts so easily?
This is a completely messed up state of affairs in boxing but I can actually see how HBO and Top Rank might be involved in this decision.

That's a completely different and depressing subject. I'm not going to defend this move, believe me. It just doesn't infuriate me like it does others, because I don't care about belts like others care.
Like I said yesterday though, if Matthysse were to say himself that he hates this and feels screwed out of a title shot, I'd change my mind.
He probably did weigh 170 but since he is a GBP fighter they were protecting him and lowered his real weight by 7lbs.
Protecting a fighter who can only sell 1000 tickets, yea that explains it.
Watch the fight and ask yourself if Lucas looked 160... It's that simple.
If Showtime posted that he was 170 you'd probably believe that too lol.
