You don't think you can get well rounded shoulders through weight training? Also, depending on how long he was supposedly on HGH it takes a while for some of those effects. How about manny's big ass head or his increase in size with no fat? You can make a case for anyone being on something.
Marquez head is even bigger the 3 amigos Marquez, Mayweather and Pac have big ass domes.
That's said nothing would have stopped that KO, culmination of timing on both fighters resulted in that KO. Pac's carelessness and Marquez throwing that home run bomb took my breath away.
the PEDs stopped Pac, not the skill. JMM been hitting Pac like that for 3 fights without the PEDs and couldn't stop him
He never hit manny like that any other time, get you pacsac glasses off for a minute.
Marquez was probably just doing explosiveness training (judging by the training videos in the 24/7 episodes), basic cardio, and a "body builder esque" diet routine (mainly watching his intake and having certain meals at certain times each day). Overall, it was a more focused and strength oriented training regimen (unlike his autistic training camp for Mayweather :p) that was solely done to help him fill out at 147 and carry his speed/increase his explosiveness and power.
Also, it's pretty clear to me that he was on HGH with Heredia (as well as to anyone that has worked with body builders and has done research on cycling) due to his rounded shoulders/other muscles, increased jaw size, increased traps, etc. as well as the fact that his jaw decreased in size when he was shown ringside on HBO the other week. But it was still due to his skill that he stopped Pacquiao, the HGH just helped his power.

Where were all the memo haters when rios used him and kept it quiet till fight week? Or is it that Pac got KTFO and thats why "he cheated"? Yeah i think thats it
JMM has been with memo for about 2 years i could understand if it was his first time then a red flag would go up but that is not the case in my book. it was a new type of training for him and hard work for crying out loud the man got up every day at 4 am. he was not focking around his goal was to win by ko he went toe to toe and beat Pac at his own game
the main ones crying foul are PAC STANS they just cant stand that mexico got the last laugh with Pac face first on the mat ASS UP LOL
Yes, absolutely IMO. The thing about his fans is that they don't realize that the likely hood of anyone losing or getting stopped is VERY high in this sport at some point. I like to watch Floyd in the ring, but the guy's a pri*k and he probably would deserve an ass whipping if the truth be known. Will it happen before he retires? I have no idea, but it all boils down to this... it's a sport that well all tend to take to personally instead of just enjoying it.
I'm not arguing that, and you actually made very good points. I'm just speaking about the ones who label the KO shot a product of PED usage. JMM could very well be dirty, but the KO shot was legit.
Yes, it was legit... and I still argue that JMM fought with more of a drive to make sure the fight did not go to a decision one way or the other.
some people do, the truth is that PED use is absolutely EVERYWHERE in every sport. I am not suggesting one way or the other that he was on anything... I am simply giving possible ways that he got to looking the way he did.

People are still crying and suspecting that Marquez used steroids? Man this is ridiculous, really shows the guys who have been watching boxing for a long time and the guys who started watching a few years ago. KO shots like that have been happening for ages. Marquez has always been a big puncher with exceptional skills and Pacquiao has always been wild with no regards for defense at times.
As for his appearance, well Marquez did substitute old school boxing training for newer methods in training. I don't think Memo is stupid enough to be involved in another PED scandal. Plus he's not a miracle worker, I didn't see Rios with wall knocking power in his last fight.

Why did Pac refuse to do random drug testing when Marquez said they can both get tested?
2 possible reasons... either Marquez really was clean or knew he wouldn't get caught. Also, it might have been a bluff... knowing that manny wasn't going to take the tests because he never has.
Is plyometrics conducive to mass gain given the different ideal rep ranges for hypertrophy and explosiveness? Would be good if someone knowledgeable like New England could comment but it seems like it would be difficult to achieve both in such a short space of time.
I'm a big Marquez fan and I spent a long time trying to convince myself that it was all very possible that he underwent this change using clean methods. What's hard to get your head around is not that it may, theoretically, be possible that Heredia could have achieved these results without PEDs.
What's hard to comprehend is given how much of a beast Marquez turned into, how bad must every other S&C coach in the sport be?
Most guys get softer, some guys stay pretty lean, but hardly ever do guys transform their body shape to this extent, looking far more muscular and far more ripped than they've ever looked before.
You just never see guys in this kind of shape as they move up in weight, especially not if they're in the twilight of their careers.
It all depends on soooo many variables. Genetics, age, test levels (some people's just stay higher longer than others their age), etc, etc.
It is very possible to up test levels by foods and the correct supplementation. For instance, there have been studies that when L-arginine is given in high doses, especially through intravenous injections that it did increase HGH levels in the body. Test levels through explosive exercises (especially heavy leg work) will increase test levels. So if one never did any or very little squatting, they would increase their test levels. Will those increases be significant? That depends on the person.
Another variable is that a man who has never done much weight training... or any for that matter will produce very good gains for 4-6 months before leveling off and then having to work harder.
Gaining mass while losing fat is the harder thing though. To gain mass pretty much everyone would have to be in a calorie surplus, to lose fat a calorie deficit. Again, a beginner can and does acheive these things, even at an older age.
Plyometric exercises can build some mass, but they are more geared toward building power. I'm sure Memo combined low reps, high reps, and plyometrics to help Marquez' training.
Let's not pretend that Marquez couldn't punch before, but his nature is a pure boxer, which is more about getting hit less and he still has a very good KO ratio, so when the guy plants his feet, manny is running in and the punch is thrown all at that perfect time... a KO is probably going to happen 9 times out of 10 at least.

you should fetch that link where pacquiao refuses marquez's testing proposal
in the 4th, from how i remember it roach asked for testing but the fight was already a week or 2 away and there was no time so bob said forget it
pacquiao never gave a sht to begin with
Why did Pac refuse to do random drug testing when Marquez said they can both get tested?
Manny and his fans only believe its fair if Marquez takes it by himself. Manny has already said his clean and doesn't even know what a steroid is. Stop hating on the Pacman you Flomo.
Monday - Dianabol
Tuesday - Testosterone
Wednesday - Nandrolone
Thursday - EPO and visit his doctor to obtain a TRT exemption and get his shots.
Friday - Winstrol
Saturday - Trenbolone
Sunday - Marquez is a god-fearing man, so rest, pray and drink his own urine.
No one knows and the ones who do know aren't going to tell you lol. Plyometrics is what most people use to build explosive power (such as for punching).

doing a lot of weight lifting i think...heredia said that at the peak of training marquez was squatting 300+ lbs...
most likely marquez was using steroids to help with recovery because doing that sort of intense weight-lifting at 39 is difficult on the body since you're producing less testosterone...and also it's just unusual for boxers to be squatting that heavy of weights in general...
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/boxing--juan-manuel-marquez-newfound-muscle-raises-questions-about-ped-use-manny-pacquiao-200532499.html
marquez sacrificed speed for power...a lot of power..
Ricky Hatton would leg press 1000+ pounds. Of course squatting and leg pressing are 2 different things too, but he was very very strong.
No one knows and the ones who do know aren't going to tell you lol. Plyometrics is what most people use to build explosive power (such as for punching). Some of the stuff you see on HBO might be real, but that is a VERY small part of it. Obviously he was more muscular, so his macro's were going to be geared with more protein and less fat with carbs timed the proper way and likely only slow releasing carbs such as oatmeal, sweet potatoes, beans, etc. Excess carbs turn to fat. 1-1.5 grams of protein per lb of bodyweight has been the standard for years when it comes to muscle growth. This is of course assuming JMM's program was legit without any sort of chemical help.
You also have to keep in mind that Marquez had made the decision NOT to let the fight go to a decision which is why he worked on that KO shot during much of his training camp. He wasn't just boxing and moving this time, he was setting his feet and really going for broke.. that in itself is what helped him as much as his training did.
